Hey guys. I have the Nexus S 4G port of HTC Sense. If anyone wants to help port it, post here and I'll PM you it. I shouldn't post the link here though because the dev hasn't released it yet, but QBKing77 gave me a preview copy. I'm trying to port too, but would appreciate any help.
Wats missing on it?
brought to you by my iced out ns4G
I'd be happy to help. Thing is, I have limieed knowledge in this matter. Mind pointing me to a good porting guide to begin with? Afterwards, I should be a great deal of help to the cause (hopefully)

PM me it and ill see what i can do, hopefully i can help.
thanks.
Here to Help
Gave up on Sense for the Epic about a month ago...
Saw your post today and instantly send you a PM. Im willing to help in any way possible. Testing, I can help with some Kernel issues if any exist, and most importantly, emotional support for the trial and error process that comes with reconstructing the wheel by converting an entire file system... lol
There is still hope yet for our beloved EPIC 4G!
Also, I have an S2 I dont use so I can help with S2 issues as well.
Waiting patiently for your response!

Try using this guide (I know we don't have all those files so use what we do have)

Replace kernel and updaterscript too.

I'd be happy to look at it. I'm not the most accomplished developer, but I know a bunch of the hackyish stuff that's been done to get parts of miui and cm7 working. And it could definitely be a learning experience.
Sent the pm with the link to everyone.

Thanks everyone for responding. I hope we can get this booting.
No matter which kernel and file format I use it boot loops at the samsung screen. I've also replaced pretty much every file except the framework and app files. It doesn't boot far enough to get a logcat either.

EI22 and miui. I didn't have time to specifically try cm7 before I had to leave.

I figure if we get the nexus one booting, it will be mostly working. Maybe I'll add files from the Nexus sense 4g to our epic 4g alpha.

I honestly know nothing about git and compiling kernels. :/
It probably wouldn't hurt to learn though.

I know it's frowned upon to ask, but how likely are we going to see a build for the Tab 2 in the future?
Not trying to be rude or demanding or anything, I know it takes developers time to release new builds, but I simply am so excited for the vsync and triple buffering utilization. Google is paving the way for mobile OS technology while Apple sits in the corner throwing up the same old OS with one or two "new" features. That being said... I can't wait for 4.1
A build will show up shortly I'd think. Granted, more stuff will be working in it if more people would test out and help fix my ICS AOSP build.
I'd help you test it out, but I have the 10" model

Hey I'm picking up a 10 tomorrow, was wondering, is the only difference just resolution between 7 and 10 roms. Ie could you decompile framework, edit some xml files, compile and be good to go?

I will be rooting my tab and going on aosp roms soon when my tablet slows down a little. Love it on my phone, on my tablet that would be awesome.
I have files for everything but the P5100 setup. I'll test compile for the P3113 then for JB, and if it at least boots, I'll build for the other models that I have stuff for so everyone can join in on the party

With CM9 almost fully functional, it shouldn't be overly difficult to make it work with Jelly Bean. My first build didn't boot, but I think it's a kernel/driver issue. Hopefully I can get more time this weekend and next week to get it booting.

Hey has any devs considered getting baked black beans ported over for the epic. On my nexus s 4g I had it and Its my favorite over cm and aokp although they rock too. Just thought it would be an awesome fit and not to hard to port over. Maybe I can study up and figure out how by myself since I am already using the ns4g modem

You can do it yourself, just use the ns4g one as a base and "debug" until it's functional. The hardware is almost the same so it shouldn't be really hard at all
chunks are in use in the most current ck10 at this time.

if its based off of cm10 use cm10 as a base and take framework, app, libandroid_runtime.so, libandroid_servers.som libmedia_jni.so and media from the baked beans and (overwrite)merge them into a cm10 zip. dont release it though unless you do modifications such as fixes or such. and be sure to credit the respected devs.

Yeah I tried porting using a guide on youtube but it was based off of cm9 so that may be why I keep getting a boot loop. When I get home and am by a computer I will give it a shot. I was also considering crossbones and remjb

it bootlooped because you didnt have the libs i stated a few posts above., now remember, it isnt for the faint hearted! it can be tedious.
go for it. there's an 1103 out now too but these latest builds have been giving me some hard times with google maps. I don't remember ever having the problem in the builds before the 28th. I do have it working with some clearing data, uninstalling, rebooting, permissions, blah blah toggle toggle witchcraft stuff and after wards it seems to work just fine with out any issue after. I honestly have no idea how or why it came up but I do see some other people mentioning gps stuff so hopefully it wasn't anything I did as I haven't changed my process in any way that can have that as a side effect. then again I haven't been doing clean installs like I used to always do, maybe it's that?
I didn't do a full port of that rom as I still don't see anything that special in it apart from aokp, slimbean, cm10, and all the other aosp like roms. besides the inverted apps the main appeal to baked looked like it's settings section and maybe the altered status bar which messes up some themes if I'm not mistaken. It'd be cool to see a xperia port over from the ns4g, or remjb/touchbean, or miui jb over another near cm stock experience.
I use cm10 as my base, then do my slimming, then do my merging, then my tweak adding (your fonts wont be stock if you use my base). If you're trying to pinpoint bugs in your learning process it'll be better to use the cm10 stock base over mine. I have logging disabled too so if you do want to try with my base enable it so you can pull some logcats.
Isn't Black Bean based off of AOKP 4.1.1?

Use the guide above from andy_nu then logcat. or if its from the nexus s 4g, its easier. If its from the nexus s 4g, copy meta-inf from cm10 as well as everything outside system. Then, copy vendor, lib/hw, firmware, cameradata, and etc/wifi from cm10. Then, copy etc/vold.fstab and vold.conf and bin/vold from cm10. Then edit the build.prop in the cm10 ns4g modem zip to have the same version info as the black bean rom and copy it over. Then, copy lib, bin, etc, and vendor (and everything besides app in /system of the ns4g modem zip. Also, add the boot.img of the ns4g cm10 modem zip.
Make sure you flash the ns4g modem if you don't already have it. its a bit easier to port roms using ns4g modems rather than epic modems because epic modems require framework hacks, and apktool can be frustrating.

Hey folks, I'm keen to start work porting the gnexus image for Ubuntu to the N7000 when it's released later this week. Is anyone else keen to join this effort?
While very familiar with the linux commandline, servers, desktop linux, and flashing my phone, I haven't compiled much code before and am unsure where to start. I would appreciate any advice you might have.
Looking forward to getting this os running on our original notes.

Deleted sorry wrong post.
I would love to see some support here. Push!
I'm presuming you're going to need to build an unbuntu compatible kernel for the note, mobile devices don't tend to work in the same way as desktops, so the pretty much universal kernel model used on the desktops don't work too well here. (size being the major consideration).
Not really looked into what they are doing, I'm presuming they will release source under gpl, so at least you will be able to diff a standard gnex build and the ubuntu. You can then use that as a basis to rebuild for the note.
"Porting" an image if that's all they release is going to end up quite messy.
EDIT according to techradar they will release source http://www.techradar.com/news/softw...galaxy-nexus-nexus-4-coming-next-week-1131567

You think every android phone runs on the same kernel? Think again.
It's always a possible that they will use an Android kernel for the gnexus or n4 builds, but it's unlikely, as Android has some features that don't play too nicely with a mainstream Linux build.
Not seen this yet, nor code for it, so can't say exactly what they are doing yet.

See what happens when it comes out then, but would seem from the information Canonical is presenting that they are using standard android kernels. Will be interesting to see.

Yes, but what he say is that Ubuntu runs from Android Kernel. The CyanogenMod 10.1 kernel. And as we have CM 10.1 on note, the kernel is not a problem

Ubuntu TOuch GT-I9505
hi, I would love to be a tester, if anyone has managed to port the rom to the galaxy S4 I9505. I have played with it *(alpha) on the S3, and it's amazing in terms of design. Just hope someone will port it soon ^^.
Would be great
Yeah i'd love to test it too,, i've been running my S4 I9505 on early CyanogenMod since the day I got it but i'd totally love to have Ubuntu on it,, (I use ubuntu on my desktop and laptop, too)
but I guess around the time there's a official CM10.1 Stable build out, there will be someone who made a port of ubuntu touch
Yet another +1...
Could be a great alternative to TW / CM... Dev' needed
Did anyone tried to fetch the code and "merge" / port some job from AOSP to it, early "alpha" unofficial builds?
