I recently installed cm10 on my Electrify M (US Cellular's version of the Razr M) and have 3g but no 4g. I live in a 4g area and used to have 4g access prior to root and cm10. I currently have mobile networks set to LTE/CDMA which I believe is correct. I also got into the *#*#4636#*#* and noticed that my network on that is set to GSM/CDMA (which I assume is the problem). When I switch to LTE/CDMA auto (PRL) it doesnt seem to do anything and upon reboot it switches back to its default setting. My assumption is part of what I loaded on my phone was intended for the RAZR M which is Verizon and it set my default networks to Verizon. Is there a way to switch it so I can get 4g on Us Cellular?
after extensive googling, I feel that the only option I have is to un-root / replace stock firmware to fix my APN. Will this work? I realize now that I didn't properly back up my APN and it ****ed me can I retrieve it in this manner?
My plan is to reboot it to stock and save my APN and re-root it. Is this possible folks?
Well thanks for all the help....
Here's an update. I am running CM10.1 4.22 jelly bean on my Motorola Electrify M.
4g working
MMS working
camera and camcorder working
bluetooth - checking tomorrow
Everything is running smooth. If you have questions about anything feel free to ask.

What did you use to back up and restore your apns? I used "APN Backup And Restore," and after I restore my apns, my network works for a while, then it attempts to change to Verizon network, after which I get intermittent reception. Also, I have been having issues with my GPS only working on occasion. How has your GPS been working?
Any help would be great.
Thank you.

I have an unlocked Defy from T-Mobile USA that I'm using with my AT&T service, but I'm only getting EDGE wherever I go, no UMTS at all, and I've even heard of people getting it to run on HSPA bands. I know already that HSPA is available everywhere from my home to my workplace, thanks to my Atrix 4G. I've rooted the Defy and it's running Cyanogenmod 7 latest. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I can find nothing on this forum or on Google to remedy the issue.
You should try to change the freq via baseband switcher. And restart.
Maybe you got the "2g only" checked in networks settings..uncheck that.
Settings >Wireless & networks > Mobile networks
You can also put automatic(2G and 3G) mode in GSM/UMTS network preferences.
Thanks for the reply Viper. I just noticed the baseband is set to some central Europe nonsense. Should I change it to one of the T-Mobile USA band settings? There's nothing there for AT&T.
Edit: I changed the baseband to US T-Mobile 3.Something, whichever was latest. 2G only was not checked. I'm still getting 2G only. Could it be my APN settings? Could I copy the APNs from my Atrix?
I'm having a problem with my AT&T connection as well, but I've been using my phone unlocked on the network since March with no problem. I'm new to modding, but OCD about streamlining my electronics. My friend suggested rooting my device and flashing a new ROM. I decided on stock Nordic Froyo, and it makes me so happy not to see all the T-mobile crap in my apps tray.
BUT the collateral damage is not so hot. I have no 3g or even 2g connection anymore. I tried the fix in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944258 and was able to get a signal with 4 bars instead of the previous state of emergency calls only, but no letters like E or 3g and no ability to use the internet/transfer data. I also installed the broadband switcher in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052745 and tried all of the T-mobile US bands. No luck. I did rest the APN to default. No change. I've been using wifi, but will have to go back to work soon. Not having access to the smart part of my smartphone will feel sort of like having an arm cut off.
I'm not sure what to do next. I could try flashing another ROM, but from what I've read in the forums, that's no guarantee.
If anyone has any suggestions to help a noob, I'd be forever grateful.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the link, halah. Do I apply this as an update.zip from recovery? Or install?
Never mind, it won't work for me, for whatever reason.
So I got this phone from my friend asking to help him because quite recently his phone would start dropping calls and losing signal. He was running completely stock on Android 2.2 He asked if I could take a look and try to get it working. So after doing some researching in the sub I found the rooting app and decided to put CM7.1 on his phone. Everything works great now considering he couldn't get a call to go through but it only has edge and that's only after waiting a couple minutes after boot. There isn't an option in CM7 to choose WCDMA but it does have the check box for 2g only. Anyway calls go through fine now as well as texts but god Edge is so slow. WiFi works fine as well. Anyway What on earth do I do to get 3g working?
I have also done the Defy Baseband switcher, everything but T-Mobile 3.4.2 -107-9 works. The only thing I can think of doing next is having him switch out his sim card through T-mobile. If someone else has an idea I would love to hear it cause I am just spinning my wheels.
Also I did install CM7.2 and it had the option for WCDMA which forced the 3g icon but it never would do anything about data for it. It would just sit at a webpage and timeout. Anyway back at CM7.1 and waiting to see what happens.
Thanks ahead of time for the help guys.
Anyone with any other ideas or something simple I am missing?
I have a very similar problem. I have installed WhiteRabbitEddtion 1.5 for Defy+ MB526 (based on CM7.2 I think). When it tries for operate on 3G, it works for a while, then just loses the network. It looks like the receiver goes deaf or something. If I select 2G only, it seems to work fine. But then restricted to EDGE data rates -- bummer.
My network operator is Telstra (Australia) - 850/2100 MHz.
I am currently running AOKP MR1 Milestone 1, and everything so far seems to work, but the cellular data. I have an AT&T SIM, and it was working on the stock ROM. Can anyone tell me which APN they are using? I have it set to ATT LTE which I know it does not have LTE, but I have also tried setting it to the ATT WAP.Cingular, and ATT Broadband, I looked under the About Tablet > Status and it shows Network State as either disconnected, or Connecting... it's never connected anymore. Can anyone tell me what theirs is set to, and if you are using the AOKP MR1 Milestone 1 ROM? Tried it with, and without the stock Kernel if that matters.
Thanks in advance.

Did you make sure you downloaded for Tilapia instead of Grouper. One will work; one will not. Also, you may want to use more Nightly Builds, as the problems may be more likely to be fixed then.
Yes. I got it running under the ATT Broadband setting. I just had t wait a little while. Thanks for the input.
Hi
I have rooted RAZR M with the bootloader unlocked currently running Carbon ROM. I just moved to New Zealand and I thought I would be able to use this phone on Vodafone's GSM network. So, I got a prepaid plan and popped the SIM card in. I switched the network to GSM only (I've also tried GSM/WCDMA and maybe another option).
Vodafone NZ shows up in the status bar toggle with zero bars. I haven't tried calling anyone besides Vodafone's 777 number so I'm not sure if that actually works. I can't seem to get data or send texts (except receiving texts from vodafone). So how do I get data to work? I've seen online that people select GSM/UMTS for network mode. That isn't an option though. Should I install another ROM so I can select UMTS? Do I need to use Radiocomm? Thanks in advance!
OK...
First, do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542
It may not be required, but it's not a bad idea and won't hurt anything. Most likely, that's the cause of the lack of signal. That won't get you all the way there though.
Next, you need to enable GSM options (commonly called a "gsm fix" ) so you can set the APNs required for MMS and data. There's discussion on that on the Carbon thread, look back a few pages.
If neither of those works, it's possible you happen to live in a location outside the VZW RAZR M's band. If that's the case, you are unfortunately SOL

too lazy to deal with radiocomm for now but GSM fix helped a little

Thanks!
I didn't do the radiocomm thing but I flashed the gsm fix. now I have 5 bars and I can send texts but still no data. I was under the impression that radiocomm was only necessary to use US GSM carriers.
update:
did a fresh install of CM 10.1 RC2 and the GSM fix and now I have data!

Sweet! Good to know it worked!
FWIW, it's probably a better idea to build your own GSM fix from the RC2 build.prop... The flashable one is using a very old build.prop that may cause issues - in fact that's probably why carbon didn't work. I know there's a post in the CM10.1 thread about it...
You don't need to, but if you start getting odd bugs, that might be the cause...
Speaking of which, I probably should make a tutorial on that...
And yes, radiocomm is usually required for US only, but some countries use the same GSM bands (I think... Not exactly a gsm expert so I may be completely wrong here...) and they need it to get data. Since you have it though, looks like you're good to go!

All -
I recently purchased a used RAZR M for my wife. She enjoyed borrowing my work phone, so I figured she'd like this. Except I can't get the damn thing to switch to an LTE band. I've swapped sim cards and thrown mine in, same thing. No 4G. I've compared it to my work phone and the settings *look* to be correct. In the same room, my work phone gets LTE, so I know it's not a signal strength issue where I am.
I don't know the history of the phone itself. Would this be the result of it being switched to GSM use? Is this a radio problem? Is this a firmware problem? Is this a PEBKAC issue?
Keep in mind, this is on stock. I'm not too keen on being stuck on stock, I don't have a lot of choices with it being locked and on KitKat right now.
I'd appreciate any help/insight that y'all can offer.
Still looking for some insight. For what it's worth, the phone is being used on VZW now, it just can't / won't get LTE.
Check with your provider that you are using the correct APN for LTE. I know my provider has a specific APN for LTE and another that will only connect using 3G. It took multiple calls to their broadband tech support before someone pointed me to the correct APN config.
