Hi all, just started using Tasker with Buzz Launcher and I'm having an issue.
I wanted to download the Profile XML examples from the Tasker wiki so I can see some examples, but Tasker does NOT seem to recognize those files.
I've manually saved them from Chrome, went in ES Explorer and made sure the files were in the right folder "Tasker > Profiles" and sure enough they are and I see them, but when I go in Tasker and go to Import one of them it doesn't see. I just see an empty window as I'm looking in the Profiles folder as if nothing is there.
What the hell is up with this? Or what am I doing wrong?
Nevermind... solved my own problem lol

Somehow I have removed all the shortcuts from my programs folder, i.e. they no longer show up when i press start, all i get is
Today
Programs
Settings
If I go into programs all i see is the games folder
I can still run the programs from their defualt folders.
Anyone know a quick way to reinstall all these shortcutS or am I going to have to do them all manually ?
Not sure i even know what files types (shortcuts) or where they should be.
I am assuming they should be in /windows/programs as it is nothing there ?
Help

re
OK sorry for wasting yer time, admins remove or delete as you feel fit.
For the record though, not that anyone is likely to ever do this but....
This is how I believe I caused the problem
It started when I was trying to load an irc app on my phone.
I needed to put the app in /windows/startmenu and run from there
I copied across from my desktop
Using resco explorer I went into /windows/startmenu but it wasn't there.
So foolishly i started playing around and somehow in properties decided to untick/tick the hidden box for attributes
The result was that all files in /start menu/program folder were hidden
So by changing it back (somehow!!) through the properties, attributes, it's now all back.
So if your still reading this (fools) sorry, user error on a big scale.
Cheers, Numb
I just notice this happening about 5 days ago. Before, I could slide to Photos & Videos > Albums > Albums and under 'My Device" I see an "All Folder", "Camera Shots Folder", "My Pictures Folder", "My Wallpappers Folder". Well now, I'm seeing what looks like Facebook pictures in folders. The folders consist of just 1 or 2 pics, some folder have as many as 8 pics but there all from Facebook. Ther is as many as 60+ folders of very small blurry thumbnail pics. I don't know why they started appearing here.
When I go to Start > My Device > Temp > fbimagecache
I see all the folders of the pics here but when I delete them all, they come back. Can somebody help me get rid of these permanently? Why is this happening now? Ive been using FB on my USHD2 for 16days, this has never occurred until 5 days ago.
I also had this problem. It happens because the new version of the Facebook app caches images, thus they appear in the Album. Every time you update the Facebook app, the images will reappear. To exclude the pictures from the Album, use a registry editor and go to HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Exclusions and create a new registry key with the string value \temp\fbimagecache. The name of the key doesn't matter. The next time you open Album, the pictures will be excluded.

just for info, mine is HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored
I assume thats the same key.
How do I access the registry? Or is there another way of doing it without going that route (like Menu > Options > Disable FB Cache To Album lol). Does registry edit void the warranty?
Also another question, why does the phone save random screenshots in my 'TEMP' folder? This adds to space, how do I stop it from doing that?

I'd like to put some PDFs on one of the homescreens on my Xoom. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot but it doesn't seem to have the capability built in. Could someone explain to me how to do this? I downloaded ES File Explorer and found the pdf in the download directory. I assume I can just cut and paste it to a directory and it will show up on a homescreen?

I do the same thing. We recently bought a house and everyone always as me for pictures and the floor plan. I created a pdf that I sent around, but it's useful to have it on the xoom to show people.
I have two suggestions, both of which I use:
1. Download Astro. You can then create a direct shortcut to any file including a pdf. Go to "+" --> More --> Astro. Browse to the file you want. The location depends on how you got the pdf onto the device. Since that file doesn't change, that works.
2. Use dropbox. This is good option for pdf's that change a lot. I often read weekly publications that I get in pdf. I created a direct shortcut to a dropbox folder. When I'm using my computer, I get and store pdf's there and use it as a "read later" option. Creating the dropbox folder is also in the "more" tab.
Both work for me pretty well. hope this helps.
to answer the OP android doesn't support files on the home screen like a desktop on windows or Mac
All of us at sometime want or need to keep some of our files secret on our phone.
Quite by accident I found a feature in an app called File Expert (download free from Android Market or attached to this post) which allows you to hide files from media detection.
All you need to do once you have installed File Expert is browse to the folder(s) containing the media files you want to hide, press the folder for 2-3 seconds and select the option 'Hide files from media detection', reboot your phone and thats it done! Unhiding is just as simple; just select unhide from the File Expert menu in exactly the same way.
I can confirm that it works on both picure and video files. I haven't tried it on other media so am unable to comment. The only downside is that you can only do it at folder level so I would suggest that if you have a folder with a mixture of both files you want to hide AND be visible, simply create a sub-folder, move the files you want to hide to that and hide it
Hope you find this useful
I use colournote to hide notes if I need to. Audio manager from the market can be used to hide files as well..

Simply create a new file named .nomedia using any file explorer in the folder you want to hide(aka exclude from media scanning)
Use hide it pro to hide files
It appears that people are missing the point of my thread. Let me explain:
People like us who are experienced Android users may well know how to hide files but this doesn't mean others new to the OS do so it was with this in mind that I started the thread.
I just happened to find an alternative use for a program which is recommended on this site for file management and thought I would share my knowledge (which is what I thought was the point of a tips and tricks thread). I use Audio Manager aka Hide it Pro but my thread wasn't intended to be about that or file hiding programs in general it's about File Explorer and how we can use it to hide files and folders if we want to.
I'm not telling people this is what they should use; if people choose to, great, if not then I'm not going to get upset about it. As I said I'm just offering an alternative method of hiding private folders/files using a program that many people are already using and may not know that the option exists - I certainly didn't.
Hope this clears up any confusion and clarifies my reasons for creating this thread

Thats true!
Actually any file or folder with A dot (.) in front of it will be assumed hidden so don't bother about the the naming.
Well, don't forget that anybody can see your file or folders if he selects "show hidden files" in the file explorer.

Does anyone know where the Nook Simple Touch store it's media files? Meaning, I downloaded my books from B&N but I can't seem to find them. I have Nook Manager installed but a search from / took a long time and when it finished, it found many but didn't display any.
Thanks.

Hmm, I am not seeing anything. Using the built-in ReLaunch search, set my path to /data and no string, it yields nothing. Just using ReLaunch's file browser of /data shows no other directories or files. I looked through ReLaunch's settings and have show all files and hidden files. Not hide known directories...etc. Even try adding regex of ".*" nothing....
There also seems to be a bug in ReLaunch? When I browse down.... I can't seem to browse back up via "Up one level". The only way seems to either be reboot the nook or "reset settings to default values" for ReLaunch and then it works again.... but at some point it loses the Up one level ability again.

Yeah....I am no fan of ReLaunch, and you've just pointed out one of the reasons. There may be a way to convince it to show root directories and their content, but if so, it's not obvious.
I'm pretty sure the information I gave you is correct because I had to figure it out to create the "Set Cover" app and that's what I went back to in order to find the answer.
