Quick question. On my new S4 I got today,
1. I click the text message icon
2. I click the create new text icon in the top right hand corner
3. Then I click the other icon in the top right corner (looks like a person's head) to bring up my contacts, and when I start flipping through all of them, it starts to display every single e-mail address I've ever written to.... mixed in with all my regular contacts! Very annoying.
How do I remove all these e-mail addresses from showing up? I've already opened open: Contacts > Settings button > Contacts to display. I changed that to "phone numbers only" but this doesn't update the text app. Only your phonebook.
Any ideas?

Idk of a solution..but why not just type the first few letters of the persons name instead of tapping the "head" and scrolling through all your contacts..

I am trying to send text messages using my XDA IIs and things are not working. When I select "to" in the outlook window, "my contacts" list shows up, I then select a contact, but the list remains on the screen preventing any text entry. Any ideas?
Press the little "contacts" icon to the right of My Text at the bottom of the screen, this puts the contacts list away (or pops it up).

I've got a problem sending sms with my Jam:
I write the text... I tap on "send to" and I browse on my contacts... I select one of my contact's number an then I tap on send button.
It works fine and the text is sent!
Well... when I go to sms sent items I can see the text I sent but there is the N I use instead the contact's name!!!! grrrr.....
If I reply one received sms it works fine and I can see on my sent items the name of the sender....
Any idea?
i've also noticed some glitches with sms on the magician, but i dont use the send to function, i just type the first couple letters of the contacts name in the "to" area and the names with those first couple letters will come up, click on the one desired and click send.
I think the reason i'm having problems is cuz i have spb pocket plus which completely exits the messaging app, so i just minimize it instead of completely exiting it.
If you start typing the contacts name in the To: field it gives you the option to autocomplete using their mobile number and will then show their name against the message in sent items. But if you browse contacts it will just use the number against the message in sent items.
fone fanatic, once you send a message wait for the little bubble to pop up saying message sent before you close the application, otherwise it ends up sending the message twice.
Does this happen to anybody else? Often when I attempt to open a message, be it an email message or an SMS message by going to the TF3D tab and tapping on the message itself (either in the envelope for email or just the words for SMS messages) the message depresses like a button press but then nothing happens.
I just now discovered that if I click on the upper right hand corner of the screen, where it shows HTC's task managers and tasks running, I'll see a mail icon and the name "Internet Explorer" in the list. If I tap on that I get the following, ridiculous dialog box that appears to be blocking me from seeing the message:

I say ridiculous because if you think about it what options does the user have at this point? The only two things he can do is 1) succumb to the demand and click OK or 2) switch to some other application and ignore this message!
Questions:
1) Does this happen to anybody else? (Note if you have any icons in HTC's upper right corner menu that have a letter icon and say anything like Internet Explorer, Text Messages or Email then kill them first by tapping the "X" to the right of them and try again).
2) How can I get this dialog box to not prompt at all? It serves no purpose, does not come up normally (i.e. is hidden) are really ruins the "flow" or user experience here!
I've also had times where I tapped "Inbox" or "All messages" because at the time I didn't know that there was a hidden dialog. In such cases the Inbox/All messages comes up but in the place where the messages should be listed is instead the background of the current tab bleeding through! IOW if you have a list of say 2 messages that you'd normally see in the Inbox, instead you'd see the background of the current tab as if that part of the window just didn't render. Needless to say that this is extremely annoying too! This seems like basic stuff. Why is it happening to me? Is it also happening to you?
As the title says. i have the HTC tytn. First my messages were grouped by contact. now when i receive a text message, they are just showed 1 by 1.
whereas in the past the text messages of the same contact were grouped
hope you understand. now I ressetted my device and I don't know how i can set it back.
On the upper right corner of the messages screen, tap the pull down menu and select the option you like. eg. Message Type, Recieved, Subject.

So I had received text message that I wanted to forward. I pressed and held the text, selected "Forward" from the menu, and I get the "to" box and the body, but where are my contacts? I can't select a contact to fwd the message to, can you?
Tapping the "to" box just brings up swype, and taping the little contact icon does nothing.
Help!
update--- okay, so apparently the samsung messaging app on this phone sucks, but fwd'ing happened to be my first run in with it. When I click on messaging from the home screen, then "compose new" @ the top, I can't select from a list of contacts. Instead, I have to start typing out the name of who I want to send it to in the "to" field and find them in the drop down autofill list. Also, the name that appears at the top next to the "contact" icon only shows the first name entered.
So, it would appear this is more along the lines of an annoyance with their program than a bug. Can anyone confirm these issues? Is it maybe just that my contacts aren't synced correctly or something?
