I noticed there exists a sticker like thing that can be inserted behind batteries of phones that supposedly boost the phone's signal. Since the n4 can't use those I'm wondering if there's a case that can boost the strength of the signal?

Those stickers are placebos anyways. There is no case that I know of that can boost. But avoid any metal or aluminum body cases, those cause a decrease in signal strength.
Your best bet is to try different radios depending on where you are. Some have more success with the .22 radio than the .33 and some say the most recent .54 works best. It really is a crapshoot with that and where you reside. Good luck.

Those stickers are a scam. You can find the exact same stickers sold to increase gas mileage if you stick 'em to your car.
I can't see how a case would enhance the signal, only attenuate it.
I remember buying my Sony w810i, and the dealer swore up and down that these stickers would double the phones signal. I told him I wasn't interested unless he had a watermelon scratch and sniff version.
Can't believe these things are still being sold, and even more shocking is there are idiots out there buying them.

They worked until 3g after that I stopped buying them you probably think they never worked but when I had the star something the one with a three color screen it did in fact gain reception but that was the only phone it worked on
Sorry guess I should say I agree these do not work they had a purpose before digital signals ... Only worked on old school analog phones

Its like stickers for cars.. People think they driver faster or look cooler with them... Lol
Rooted and running Paranoid Android + franco.kernel
you mean stickers you get free when you buy new things, you would need to improve the internal aerial, no case to improve just dont use metal.
For a $1 shipped on eBay. I decided to order one Lol!

I have one of those cheap antena booster stickers that you put on the inside of the battery cover. They really do help - not a lot, but it does.

sprint airave
let me tell you guys what i did, some of you that work for sprint will hate me, lol so i was only getting about 1 to 2 bars of service in my place, i mean its bearable but once i got ten mins down the road i get 6 bars full serivce, sometimes i would get dropped calls etc. so one day i got fed up and i called sprint and started *****ing about how i my phone keeps dropping calls all day long and they made me hard reset bring it into store blah blah, so i played their little sprint games etc, so service is still bearable, so i called again a few days later *****ed again how i keep dropping calls in my home already knowing what i could get out of it. they offered me a sprint airave which is a device that plugs into your router or any router that makes your signal go to full bars, this device works flawlessly. i bring it into work with me, plug it into my router at work, at home, i bring this box every where, all you have to do is call a few times and ***** about your signal and sprint will offer you a sprint airave at your home for free at no monthly cost.

Nice screen, kind of huge phone. I hear the battery is beyond bad. Personally I don't like Sense UI but that is easily remedied. I would see who has the best coverage in you area and go from there. T-mobile isn't even an option where I live hardly any coverage at all. Sprint has great coverage here and the 3G is fast too. Verizon also has good coverage and 3G here. AT&T has only Edge where I live. Many factors to consider.

If signal reception is your ONLY concern then by all means go for it. IMHO Evo4G sucks epic. Its android yes, but its by no means an N1 replacement. Quadrant scores are lower and batt life is like having double a's in a hugh ass maglight, it just doesnt make sence. You could rom it with CM6 but it will never ever get close to how smooth and clean a N1 looks and runs. I have my hands on alot of Evo's almost daily and would never even think of downgrading. Tmob might have spotty service but thats a small price to pay for owning an epic phone.

So, I would have gotten the N4, I have been waiting months now and now am kind of going to give up.
I can get a S2x for $280 Canadian all in, new and paid for..
I would love to wait for the n4 to be instock, I would get it after my big trip to asia that I will require a good mobile internet device. I also find i like to have a couple of spare batteries when I go boating for gps or hiking and other things like this where it is nice to have a backup full battery for emergency use.
I am also very hard on phones as I use them for work, i have to whip it out constantly rain or shine, and they get dropped often, so I will be upgrading from a very tough device, 9700 blackberry that has falled on cement at least 50 times or more, also been ran over by a car, dropped in water twice, and used in wet weather constantly.
I just want a fast and cheap device, either phone will cover that, but I wonder what one will be the toughest ?
Yeah I don't know why Google is encouraging the closed system phone (You can't open the battery or anything), that's what I hate about the iPhone.
The Nexus 4 is still a good phone, but if you go hiking or on trips frequently, I wouldn't suggest it as your battery may die when you need it the most.
How ever, it's not hard to carry an old phone with you (A Brickphone), to use when your Nexus 4 dies.
You can find those old crappy phones for like $15 on Craigslist
If you often drop your phone then I'd avoid the Nexus 4 if I were you!
Battery life isn't great either. And the camera sucks imho. And storage is tight. I'm starting to have some regrets about mine now if I'm perfectly honest.

Did some tests yesterday comparing against friends HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3 and my old Xperia arc S. My Nexus 4 camera was by far the worst of the bunch, especially indoor shots. Outside in bright conditions it's not bad. I've taken a lot of pictures with mine now and am generally unhappy with the quality. Focus seems to be a real problem (hopefully this can be rectified with a s/w fix) but detail is lacking and images look washed out in comparison with other devices.
The 2011 Xperia arc S camera blows the Nexus 4 one away. I guess I was spoilt with that device.
I waited from nov 13 to 29 for mine and love it.

Hey guys I had a few questions hoping you can help me with.
Right Now i have a Galaxy Nexus with VZ and im sitting on an upgrade, looking to purchase the VZW Note 3 as the successor to my G-Nex.
1) Does anyone know of any deals happening on them currently? So far the best price ive found on upgrade was $249.99 (Amazon) - If there are going to be some Black Friday deals going on where I can get it cheaper (maybe 199.95?) Then Ill wait the extra few weeks, but if people think its pretty set in stone right now, then ill just go ahead and order it
2) Is the VZW Note 3 a Global Phone? Im planning a trip to Europe this summer and curious if my phone will work there.. I probably need to get an international SIM card or something from VZW for it to work right?
3) How is the Signal Quality? My G-Nexus Signal SUCKS, my GFs HTC Phone blows mine out of the water when it comes to signal strength and overall general reception, just curious if the Note 3 has better Radios then previous Samsung Phones.,. I thought the general consensus is the Samsung Phones have the worst reception, Moto Phones have the best, and HTC falls in the middle between the two
4) I consider myself a power user ---> moderate / heavy usage. I know all the reviews say Battery life is great but whats the real world expectation with these? Will i get a full day of use out of it or will I be charging it at 8 aclock at night? I know the battery on my G-Nex was so bad that I always kept half the stuff turned off, brightness to a minimum and even put a plain black background on my phone to conserve energy and still dont get a full day out of it
5) What do you NOT like about the phone? That you may not of known coming into it
Thanks Guys! Oh and BTW have they officially said the N3 will be getting 4.4 or any timeframes for that release??

Well first off wrong section....
But now going into what you asked:
1. I have heard rummors that Best Buy and Radio Shack will be having specials for black friday...not sure of the price but it might be a good idea to research it.
2. Yes the Note3 is a global phone...and can used since it works with a sim card...btw i believe that all Verizon LTE phones are unlocked.
3. The Signal quality i think atleast on my device very good...then again i live in a big city...Miami.
4. The Note3 has a 3200 milli amp battery, which is considerable bigger then the GNex. That said im a heavy user always on the phone doing something i get about 15hrs, so yes the battery should last for you.
5. Most of the annoying things on the phone have been fixed by our Great Developers.
As for the Note3 getting the 4.4 KitKat update that would be a yes but as of now there is no set date....on a side note it would be really funny to see that Verizons Flag Ship Samsung device not getting 4.4. And if that is the case dont worry we usually get those too..
Welcome to the Best Place for Android Dev...!!!!!
I had a Galaxy Nexus and the biggest complaint was battery life. I had 3 batteries I carried daily.
This phone has worlds better battery life but the mod community is growing it is nowhere near the GNex.
Yeah im running 4.4 on my G-Nex right now, I love the features but its buggy and even on older roms like 4.3.1 and all that the battery life is horrendous - If i take it off the charget at 8 AM i have it plugged in at 6 that night or its dead and thats not even using it like crazy
Also the only deals I see (including Radio Shack) are for new line activations, nothing for regular line upgrades
I made the mistake of getting an 16gig iPhone 5S on launch day but just traded a guy on Craigslist for a like new Note 3 with spigen neo case. Verizon even allowed me to add total insurance coverage which shocked me being that its a Craigslist phone.
But the best deal in my opinion was the 30% verizon coupon that was active for a few days after release. Some people got the phone for $100 when they selected in store pickup. I'm sitting there ready to throw the 5S against the wall because I was so upset.

I upgraded from a galaxy Nexus so hopefully I can help you out.
1 radio shack is supposed to have some good black Friday deals plus they will give you money for devices.
2. The note 3 is a global phone. I have an att note 2 and my sim will work with data included just by adjusting the proper apn settings.
3. The note 3 must have the same antennas as the Nexus because it's just as bad as my Nexus. I'm a bus driver so I travel a lot. I have a Motorola bionic which sees 4g often but the note 3 will be in 3g it's very frustrating. And in big cities Verizon is horrible because they have more users being the largest wireless provider and all.
4. This phones battery is amazing. The standby time is even better it won't budge.
5. I just hate the fact that the antennas suck. They really do.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Best thing to do is go ahead and purchase one and play around with it for 14 days. Battery life will vary, every person uses their phone differently. Also signal will vary depending upon your location. Some people say signal/speed is better, some say worse. Black Friday is around the corner and you can probably get the price matched if the price does go down. Now, go ahead and grab one and enjoy all this Note 3 goodness!

Whaaaaat? I upgraded from a Galaxy Nexus too, and it was never able to hold an LTE signal throughout my house. It would intermittently connect to LTE if I was next to a window on one side of my house, but that was it. Other places in my house it would drop to 3G signal that it could barely hold on to.
My new Note 3 holds an LTE signal throughout my house and still has great call quality while I hold the phone inside my clothes dryer (yes that's the worst signal spot in my house and I like to test phones by calling my landline while the phone is in the dryer.)
I think you must have a bad one because the radio in the Note 3 is miles ahead of anything else I've ever used.

As I stated I travel a lot. Do I think it's a better phone than the Nexus absolutely. But it doesn't hold a candle to the bionic's signal and that's a 2 to 3 year old phone. I constantly see the bionic holding a strong signal and the note 3 is on 3g. My Nexus was the same way.

Just don't think I'll be going Samsung again. Antennas should be the most important thing id think.

I don't know why people are complaining about antennas. Coming from the Gnex, the antennas on this baby are above and beyond. Bsmith you likely have a defective radio in your N3, or simply a subpar radio. Logically it would have to be that because everyone that owns a N3 isn't complaining about reception (myself included).
To the OP - getting this phone is a no brainer, coming from ANY phone. I've never in my life experienced battery life/screen on time like this (I've gotten 8+ hours screen on time on a single charge). It also flies in every way, and you just can't go wrong with 3GB of RAM and the multitude of multitasking options at your fingertips. Multitasking is very important to me, and there's no other phone that can do it like this. For years I've felt the devices and software I've had just didn't get it quite right. Finally they have. Multi-window and pen window are ingenious, and they work without a single hiccup or stutter. This thing is a monster.
And if I went into every useful setting and tweak on the STOCK rom (out of the box), I could go on for hours. Add to all that the s-pen with all its features (I'm an artist so I'm in love with it), and the N3 is the champion among champions.
I will literally never get another brand/model. When the N4 comes out, I'll be the first in line. I've never been this impressed with a mobile device.
Hello I'm new to this thread as I've been a HTC user forever.
I just got my note 3 last night and it seems that I have low signal every where in Los Angeles. I only have 1 or 2 bars. I didn't have this issue with my HTC Evo which always had 5 bars..
I don't think it's Verizon network but the phone. Does any one else experience this issue? Is there a fix to get better signal?

I haven't had signal issues with my note, but from all the reading on these forums. If you are having signal issues and your on the latest radios it's probably a hardware issue. Seems like there are some phones made in China and some from Korea with quality differences between them. Wait for others to chime in, but you might want to contact Verizon and get another phone sent.

How can you check if yours was made in China or Korea?
I have the same problem, as do many. And it got way worse after the most recent update. See if you can get a replacement.

After spending an hour on the phone with tech support they suggested I go in and exchange my sim card so I did. Well that didn't change the low signal. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Just to add my $0.02.. I had the exact same problem and I purchased original my phone close to release day. It didn't matter what I did, but I would drop signal or always have terrible signal even though I was close to a tower. I also had a wiggling home key as well. Eventually my proximity sensor died on the phone, which at that point I had enough with it. I went in and returned it under warranty after having it for a month and a half. The new phone I got now actually has an earlier build then my original (under battery it's dated), but I have no issues with it at all. It was factory re-certified, but it runs like a champ and has none of the signal problems my original did. So I think there is definitely some truth to the idea that some have better builds than others based on where they were manufactured. I would return yours without a hesitation under the manufactures warranty. Hope that helps!
Thanks for helping at this point I've returned it 3 times in 10 days. I've got two different build dates and all of them still have low signal issue and calls dropping.
