There isn't an update to download it will either be pushed to your device by Google or more than likely included in the next OTA which is rumored to be dropping anytime. The only way to be safe is to not install any apps that do not come from the playstore, i.e. turn off install apps from unknown sources in your system settings.

I thought Nexus 4 will be first to get any update as its Google...
Same case with Google Maps 7 is not available in Play store.

Google has had the code to repair the exploit since about March so not sure why they are taking so long to get it out. Probably because it's not really all that big an issue as long as you only download apps from a trusted source. They sent the code to fix the exploit to their OEM's about a month ago and they updated their own version of Android are in the process of sending the update out to the various carriers. It will probably still take the OEM's a few more months to update all their phones and some older phones I'm sure will never be updated.

Guess what guys, the Cyangenmod team implemented the security patch to their rom already.

Update received

I just received a 4 mb update after having the tab for almost two weeks, im not sure what it was probably just a maintenance update. Does anyone happen to know exactly what it was?

Go to settings and see what firmware version you have?
probably preparing for the next big push:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/03/galaxy-tab-10-1-update-coming-soon-ushers-touchwiz-into-the-hon/
And when you get it let us know your impressions, lots of people like myself are still sitting on the fence.
i didn't receive anything yet waitingfor touchwiz for trying it only
just did the update manually myself. Its a 4.14mb file. It reboots and installs (something). When the tab finally finishes the install and reboots it tells you its updated to build # (??? The message cleared too fast for me to catch it) it starts with a "P" though.
Goto Apps -> Settings -> About Tablet - You'll see the system details towards the bottom
The big question is will it take the ability to root away?

That's the build mine came with apparently as I haves not updated mine but it shows that build already.
Hmm dunno. I never checked build b4 the update. Still have no clue what it updated either. If anyone else is willing to test just do the update in settings/about/system updates
Btw im not rooted either
Were you rooted before? And if so did the update remove root?
I was rooted before and I'm still rooted after the update. The only problem I'm having is that my Market Enabler no longer loads at boot so I can get paid apps.

hi there, did u sign up thru About tablet -> System updates or you registered from Samsung website first then sign in thru System updates?
I tried both but still unable to get my device signed in for any updates. While signing up i got account already exist but when i try signing in i got wrong password. Then i tried to sign up thru Samsung website (US), i was able to sign up for an account and after that, i retry signin thru device but still got the same problem!
can anyone give me so hint / help with the sign in / up?
Tks in advance!
C
I just went through settings, about tablet, system update. I was registered with Samsung first but I'm not sure if that matters or not.

For those with a 10.1v - you're missing the Samsung Account option in Apps -> Accounts -> Add Account - so any samsung updates have to come from another source.

Is it safe to manually install new version of Play services?

Hello,
Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask, sorry if it isn't.
I've noticed that after the lollipop upgrade I don't have the "smart lock" option in my settings->security. After digging through the www for a while it seems that I don't have the latest Google play services update (which brings the "trusted places" feature).
Is this correct? This is the reason I'm not seeing the "smart lock' feature?
Play store says I have the latest version (I currently have 436, which is NOT the latest version). Why? I got the play services update this morning and yet it's not the latest version. Should I wait a little longer for the update?
Is it safe to update the latest Google play services manually? apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-6-5-87-1599771-446-apk
Thanks in advance.

apk mirror is a site of android police to upload their apk's. i trust them and i installed stuff from there a lot of times. the apk signatures are correct and the apk update correctly to newer versions after the insallation. so it is a matter of trusting the source. i trust them so a lot of other readers.
android police is a serious site. so do your research about the site and decide for yourself if you are willing to trust them or not.
P.S. the reason that you don't have the latest version is that the roll out is usually done within the span of a few days to weeks depending of where you are. so the update will come eventually.

I always prefer to do the update the "regular way", via play store, so according to your advice I think I'll wait a little longer for the update.
Thanks. :good:

Well, in my case it's just a cool new feature I want to try out. I'll give it a few more days and if it won't come on it's own then I'll update it manually.
It's basically just getting the apk and running it (wherever it's located), correct?

you download the apk on your phone and install it like any other app. it is called side loading. there is an option under settings/security to allow you install apps outside the play store if you haven't done it already you must unclick it.

glad to help
For the Nexus 4 (with Lollipop), I believe this is the version you want from apk mirror:
Google Play services 6.5.87 (1599771-436)
Edit: the notes section on apk mirror explains the version naming/numbering for the Play Services apks. The last three digits indicate which version of Play Services is right for your device.
I was notified immediately after upgrading to L that my Google Services are outdated and I was redirected to Play Store before even could get to home screen. Maybe it only happens after standard OTA...?

It's perfectly safe, as it is the exact same version you will recieve from play store.
I'm not sure what the problem is anymore.
I looked at a friend's Nexus 4 that was also updated with Lollipop and he has the same Google play services build as me and he still gets the 'smart lock' option.
Could it be something with the settings on my phone? Maybe I need to do something in order to enable it? I've already tried enabling a security lock screen but that didn't help.

Yeah. Triple checked it. I was looking for 5.1.1. , but it is clear that it is 5.0.1. I can't find an update list anywhere else on the web. Actually surprised I was the first to post here.
It seems that I am new so I can't post a link. Change the httx to http and go to the link below for my screenshot.

No it is still 5.0.1 I think this was just a security patch most likely for the Stagefright bug.
I just checked for an update and there IS one available.. though I haven't pushed the button on it yet.

I installed it. It is 5.01 still.

It is the stage fright fix. I was hoping it would come with 5.1.1. Oh well..... Samsung / Verizon taking their time as usual.
It's a security fix for stagefright. It did change the build number and kernel.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4 using Tapatalk
have there been any improvements? anything noticeable even though it's just the stagefright fix?
and when do you think that the 5.1.1 update is going to come out? The sprint variant users have said it made them love their phone again...
I believe I read on the official update PDF, that there are TWO parts to the update.
In order to use Video Calling and HD Voice for Advanced Calling on the Note 4, an
additional 46-60 minutes is required for activation that includes OTA software update:
- Part 1: Download – 4 minutes, Upgrade – 8 minutes (12 minutes total)
- Part 2: Download – 18 minutes, Upgrade – 16 minutes (34 minutes total)
You will need up to 1.7GB of reserved memory to upgrade.
You will be prompted to clear space via storage settings if there is insufficient memory available.
Due to changes in the Lollipop OS, a Low Memory pop up will show until you have freed up enough memory space.

Where did you see this was a 2 part update? This is directly from Verizon and the update itself:
Android Device Software Update
[Device-Specific Instructions]
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce an operating system update that will improve the performance of your device.
The following improvement has been made:
Android security patches.
We will continue working with Google and handset makers to ensure that any security patches are available as soon as they're fully tested and approved. Please check the Verizon Support website for the latest software information and version available for your device.

Could you install and run this app, to test and see if Stagefright is REALLY patched?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zimperium.stagefrightdetector
On BOF1, I pass, I believe, 2 of them and the rest fail. If you pass all the tests, then this update indeed patched the Stagefright bug.

That looks to be related to the initial Lollipop update for the Note 4 (which WAS a two part update), and not this latest update (which I think only addresses the Stagefright issue).

That could very well be the case. I was half awake when I looked, so I didnt check timestamps.
How long, on average, does it take an official OTA to make it to Kies? Ive been checking for 2 days, and it hasnt been available through Kies (Windows).

MOB30D build mirror

For reasons that haven't been specified yet, the builds labeled MOB30D have been removed from the Nexus Factory Image page.
I uploaded it on the mirror, so, you can download if you want flash it. [Nexus 7 (2013) Wi-Fi]
https://mega.nz/#!15kGUSYA!6mKmEy1oZldroLtBDgOepWBt25xTqeVc7jC9TJ1Efyg

I haven't flashed it either. I assume the found a bug.

I still haven't flashed it but have been listening to some Mobb Deep. MOB30D!
Anyone having issues with this release? Debating whether or not to flash my unit. I notice that the Nexus 7 WiFi has binary files available with a MMB29X release.
This is interesting....found this link on Sprint's website: https://community.sprint.com/baw/message/1038775
Almost seems like MMB30D was suppose to have been the mid-March security release.
Features/Enhancements:
•Revision of March Android Security Update to include new fixes
For those who flashed this MMB30D onto the Nexus 7, what is the date in ABOUT PHONE. Is it April 1 or April 2?

The last image for the Nexus 7 2013 razor that I see is still MMB29V.
So much for Google being responsive in getting security updates out. I would have thought that after making a big deal out of that mid-March kernel fiasco that they would have fixed and re-released the images for the three devices that they pulled for whatever reason on Monday. It's now the weekend and no explanation or update from Google. Why am I not surprised?

And today they start working again, but still not displayed in the list.
I just factory defaulted my Nexus 7 (2013) device and installed this new factory image (MOD30D). Once I logged into my Google account, I got an email that I successfully logged into a Nexus 7 (2102).......2012??? WTF?
I wonder if there is/was an issue with the image's fingerprint where it would think that the 2013 model is actually a 2012 model.
Builds MOB30D for both models Nexus 7 2013, finaly, available in the list.

These builds are uploaded again to nexus pages. And include a lots of bug fixes.
Just flashed new image with WUG, rerooted, flashed Xposed and ElementalX
I'm confused. I flashed MOB30D when Google first posted it, but then took it down. Now MOB30D is back up. Do I need to re-lash it?

These monthly updates while obviously a good thing, there also kind of a pain in the ass. Every month I have to flash the new image, re-root the phone, use Titanium Backup, to go in and delete enough from sys partition, to flash Xposed, followed by flashing my beloved ElementalX kernel. Unless there is some way to streamline all that, a noob like me isn't aware of. Presumably we got just a couple weeks till the May security update anyway. I'll wait.

Why would you want to update to this July version?
I guess you must be already having Google Play Services and Google Play Store installed in your phone?
The July update is basically for users without Google Play Services and Play Store.
After installing this ROM you will have to download Play Store APK and install manually.

Neck. I have all the services of google plays ... i heard July bug fixes in Camera and language so i want to update.
Key for me is to get the power on pin security setting I believe came with may update... I am still on April security patch with play services installed... But never getting updates. Hoping the update would also get the pin option and latest updates should start downloading in the future. Is this not the case?
