Hi
I'm using stock firmware I9505XXUBMF8 and when phone is idle I have high CPU load in range 10 - 40%. I tested it using CPU-Z.
Most using systemui. On pure Android or cm10.1 it also exists?

put watchdog on from the play store, then go into the setting and set it to monitor system processes and then wait for the alarm to go off, i think it set to 40% cpu usage, then you should find out what is causing your cpu usage problem, also it will give you a list of your apps and system process cpu usage.
Also make sure wifi, gps, bluetooth and nfc are turned off.

John.
I have the same problem. And once i saw 2 cores at 1510 and CPU load was 10%.
I have installed the above mentioned app. And the result is Android media process. It is using more than 50 %
lots of hits if you google "Android media process high cpu"
here`s one, though not the S4, but still android.

I see this on mf8 every boot. It usually takes 10 to 15pc battery overall too. Annoying if i want to swap sim or battery

On my tablet i havent similar problem. I think its stoxck samsung problem. Could someone put screenshots from i9505 but not stock firmware

It`s nothing to worry about, my HTC One M7 has the same cpu, and cpu-z shows the cpu usage at idle as being anywhere between 5-25% mostly around 10% with one spike of 100% , but two core were asleep all the time.
But the phone is not really idle it has a lot to do in the with background processes, as long as when you put the phone to sleep it stays asleep and does not keep waking up and using battery power, i use the free "wakelock detector" to monitor this, and disable or remove any apps that keep waking the phone up.
John.
Has anyone got more of a handle on this issue. I've now upgraded to XXUBMGA on the I9505 and still get this issue - happens every build
The android media process really does take excessive CPU on a boot - making a swap of a battery or SIM an "expensive" (power-wise) thing to do.
It also with GE Android 4.2.2. There CPU running with 1134 MHz and CPU load like stock.

Hello.
I am having problems with the battery because drains a lot (5% per hour without wifi, 3G, screen off, etc). I looked for this problem and I found that other people resolve it installing francokernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36553244). The problem was that the tablet uses the 3G even if no SIM card of 3G off.
But, I have installed the francokernel and the problem keeps and I don't know why The francokernel reduce the problem of 3G but my battery keep draining a lot. Can you help me ? I attach images from betterbatterystats. The test is with wifi off, 3g off and only facebook, twitter and whatsapp installed. The model is Nexus 7 3G
Thank you.

uninstall facebook
It's draining because there is something not allowing it to go to deep sleep. Install cpuspy or similar that will tell you what the CPU is doing.
EDIT: I know there are photos but only a couple are showing up for me.

It's definitely doesn't appear to be Facebook or a lack of deep sleep. Despite not seeing the infamous Google services, you may want to verify your location settings as that can override you turning off wi-fi and mobile network.

I have tested again with CPUSpy (wifi off, 3g off, only I have used 5 min, ...). Now, I see the wakelock PowerManagerService is on 33 min. At any rate, 90% of time the tablet is in deep sleep mode and drains aproximately 6% per hour. I don't know why happen this ... Is it possible that in the deep sleep mode the frequency would be high ?
I attach images of betterbatterystats and CPUSpy. Sorry, I can't upload picture o links (but in the first message I can do it). I put the links below with a "-" behind "http".
Thanks

Try restarting your N7. Every time i have this problem I restart my tablet and the battery draining goes away for about a week
hi guys,
im troubleshooting my battery problem on this phone. just need some thoughts.

the day before i tried this with the network on nfc on, data and wifi off and the consumption was about the same.
i have yet to try flight mode on and nfc off, but i wouldn't think that nfc would use that much.
i use greenify to put a lot of apps to hibernate so they wont wake the phone.
starting to think my battery isnt performing right anymore.

17% in 6.5hrs, airplane mode, no nfc.
the phone is definitely going to sleep.
i could leave the network on and nfc too, difference isnt big at all.
any idea is appreciated. leaning towards bad battery here..

Why not remove all the extra apps, and see if anything changes. Then, you can install one by one when things are clearer.
i would believe if an app cause the drain with the screen off then it is probably causing a wake lock.
which doesnt show at all. is there any otherway an app can drain the battery without wakelock?

I don't really see drain? 2% an hour is not that much. In my opinion it's normal.
If you insist on lowering it, then try the following:
- Different rom
- Different modem
- New battery
And search for some guides to lower your battery usage.
You have to experiment yourself.
it didnt use that much before. in 15 hrs i got a bit over an hour screen time before it hit 0.
anyway, just loaded romswitcher, going to see if it happens with CM too. and airplane mode on.
starting to think the battery is going bad already

I average about 0.5% drain during sleep.
See the link in my signature to find out how. I've got a whole guide.
Have you checked the serial number on your battery? If it starts with BD then it's stuffed Samsung should still swap it for free I think.
thanks for all the replies guys.
yes 0.5 drain should be normal when it sleeps.
just tried this using CM rom and it looks all good there, so its not the battery.
going to remove some experimental settings in greenify to see if that helps.

Premise:
idle battery drain in LP is much worse than in KK (1% per 1 hour vs. 3 hours.)
Personal experience : after disabling most of background apps in both OS's, the battery drain in LP is about 1% per hour, while it was 1% per 3 hours in KK.
New information:
I did a new test. I restarted the phone and charged it full. I then left it idle for about 6 hours.
Here are the results after 6 hours of a charged idle phone.

Conclusions:
1) The constant wakelocks in idle state are due to S-Health app. They are not responsible for the battery drain.
2) Cleanly after restart, the phone drains the battery in idle mode at a rate of 1% per 3 hours, even in LP.
3) Something else is responsible for draining the battery at 3x the rate (of 1% per 1 hour.) This new culprit is only introduced on using the phone for a while.
I will continue testing this.
Any new ideas are appreciated.
The single biggest reason that I miss root is to figure out wakelocks on these things.

Someone posted a way to get Wakelock Detector working w/o root:
1) Connect phone to usb.
2) Do "adb devices" then do "adb tcpip 5555"
3) Open Terminal Emulator and do "adb kill-server" and "adb devices"
4) At this point, Wakelock Detector works.
Thanks for that info. I'll have to give that a try.

You can use wakelock detector without root, over usb adb

I have been seeing the same awake vs screen on behaviour, my fiance isn't seeing that trend as much and her battery life is better. I'm not complaining much about mine, but it could be better. I've tried clearing cache, battery pull, uninstalling apps, and changing sync settings.
Android Central published an article about the bad battery life on the S6. Samsung just updated the push service that affects the S6, S5 and Note series. Might be worth looking into.
http://www.androidcentral.com/galaxy-s6-battery-life-bad-update-might-help
I got wakelock detector set up with the instructions in this thread. It sort of works. It shows no Kernel wakelocks, and I think that it's very unlikely that my phone has had no Kernel wakelocks in the last 18 hours.
Yes I have been tracking this Note 4 with WLD for a couple months now and I haven't been able to pinpoit the issue of battery/wakelocks. It seems to be something very fundamental inside android itself. My wife's Note 3 absolutely does not have these problems. She can get 8 hours of screen time in a day. I am lucky to hit 4
Does this seem like normal battery life for the OP2? Had a OPO before and got slightly better battrey. Running stock Oxygen OS ATM with Boeflla Kernel and ZZIMMELP profile. Data + wifi on, screen 50%, gps off. Cheers lads!

you cant say if its bad or not
1) you are using facebook - battery killer number one
2) you used spotify alot so you used a lot of mobile data - another big battery killer
3) is it with or without wifi all the time? cause signal is also another battery drain indicator if you are moving much during the day you will lose more battery cause your mobile phone change signal positon
i think its preety good for the setup with using spotify and facebook app - i got 1 1/2 hour with 50% left after a 12 hours without wifi and 6 hours without using the phone cause i am sleeping

I know about Facebook, may give the browser a go for a while! Regarding Spotify, 90% of my music is stored offline, so I suppose I should just put it in offline mode to try save a bit of battery. (I've unlimited data) and yeah, WiFi only has signal at home. I'll keep it off while I'm out.
Anyone have this issue, after 3 reboot i have this

I recently bought the lg g6 h870 for europe and i saw that phone idle is eating like 46-50% and android os is eating like 22-25%.This morning i saw that phone idle ate like 75%.Is that even normal.I have to mention that i am on july security patch due to the lack of updates for europe.Anybody knows how to stop phone idle using that much,or i have to wait untill oreo?

We have to wait. This is most likely because of Android 7.0 idle battery drain bug which causes "Phone idle" to be very high and battery-hungry.
I have tried greenify and i have location turned off wifi off bluetooth nfc all are off and i am still getting like 77% phone idle and 22 percent android os while screen is eating only 20% and other apps 2-7%.I am really getting desperate.

Yes, as I mentioned, 7.0 is bugged and there are loads of similar topics not only here, on G6 forum, but also on Nexus, Samsung, Sony forums.
Most of them are connected with "Phone idle" issue.

That's nice mine consumes over 2000Mah over the same amount of time.
Hi all, got H870DS model a week ago and on the first run used LG Mobile Switch as suggested by the device. Transferred all data and settings from G4, all good, didn't take very long. The first 48 hours were quite bad: 2-3% of battery every hour when idling.
Tried Greenefy, all those things, but with no root - poinless. Tried phone hidden menu as well.
Then I downloaded and applied one of the latest HK firmware - still the same.
Note that all this time the phone had no SIM, but was connected to WiFi with all social apps running on background.
Then I decided to go long way: back to factory settings and update the phone in portions. Log in Google account, basic apps - and leave the phone for 2-3 hours. Another 2-3 apps and wait again.
Last ones - social and messengers: one by one, like on the minefield. Folio used instead of FB.
Result: 0% drain overnight. 1% used in the last 14 hours.
Happy with that.
Not sure what kind of settings were transferred from G4 to G6, but that obviously was the reason (in my case) for the drain.
