T-Mobile Promo Question - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I'm looking to buy a new Nexus 4. I am between ordering from Google, Amazon or even T-Mobile. As i have seen T-Mobile is carrying a free wireless charger promo. i'll like so help please to figure it out what would be the total amount for the Nexus 4. As i want it factory unlocked and i'm not sure if i need to pay any contract or monthly plan to T-Mo.
So final price would be $408?
If i pay that i may grab my phone unlocked, with my free wireless charger and not to pay any more money to T-Mo?
Please enlighten me , as i am between buying a Nexus 4 or splurge for a S4 and the like...
Thank You.

The nexus 4 will be the same no matter where you purchase it I went with Google I have no sales tax so it came out to like $362 for me.

I would get the nexus 4 from Google BUT you can get a good deal with T-Mobile wireless charger 408 vs 391$ from play store 16gb. You can unlock the phone yourself (there are sections here on how to do it). With that said, I would get the s4 because its more up to date and you can make it a Google edition s4.

Get outta here with that s4 talk Lol..
But op, just remember if you buy it from T-Mobile and go with the payment plan, that's gonna be 20$ more your paying taxes for on top of your regular bill...

I would go with the T-mobile one for that deal. It doesn't matter where you buy it from, straight from Google or T-mobile, they're the same phone. The one you buy from T-Mobile comes unlocked as well. My black nexus was from T-mobile and now my brother is using it with At&t without me having to unlock it. If you're gonna be paying straight cash for the phone then you won't be required to pay anything at all to T-mobile, only if you wish to use their service of course.

Well, If you're tech savy, like myself, you could find a Nexus 4 with a broke screen and repair it yourself if you wanna save half of that. I was lucky to find one that was listed for $160 and as the 8GB version because he couldn't check it then I bought the screen for $100. It ended up being the 16GB version and the phone is spotless. So total $260.00

It's only $17 per month for 24months thru T-Mobile.

T-Mobile sells it for $438 which includes the free wireless charger and free shipping. It's 16 GB and white. Google Play sells the 16GB for $350 and the charger for $60, plus $10 shipping for the phone and $5 shipping for the charger, for a grand total of $425. But they throw in a free bumper, a $20 value, so that reduces it to $405.
Thus you save $33 buying it direct from Google, unless you want to pay $33 for the white edition (don't see the white edition available in Google's store).
The sim card + activation fee should be a wash either way. Even if you bring your own device I'm betting it's easy to negotiate with them to waive the fees (if any) for sim card/activation ("Well AT&T/other carrier was willing to throw them in for free, maybe I should talk to them..").

Also, the Nexus 4 wireless charger isn't getting favorable reviews.. the second hit on Google is "I hate the Nexus 4 Wireless Charger." The Amazon product reviews are also bad. There are other qi chargers on Google that cost less and have good reviews for working with the Nexus 4.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but I wanted to chime in about the wireless charger.
Basically, I like my official Nexus wireless charger, except for the fact that it won't hold my phone. Every time I put it on there, my phone will fall off/slide down after 10 minutes. It's really annoying; I want it to work but that fatal flaw makes it so it doesn't. I've found that I have to put a deck of cards or something at the base of my phone when it's on there to prevent it from sliding down.

Buying the N4 outright at T-Mobile

Do you think T-Mobile will be selling the Nexus 4 off-contract for the same $349 price that Google is selling it for? If so, it would be easier to walk into my local T-Mobile store and buy it, instead of waiting for Google to ship it.
Probably not, I would assume that every carrier would have somewhat of a mark-up on the phone. I would still bet on getting the better deal off the play store.
But isn't the T-Mobile version going to support faster speed for T-Mobile?

As far as I know, there are no carrier specific versions of the Nexus 4, so what you get from T-Mobile is what you get from the play store. There is some confusion cause T-Mobile have said it will do 42Mbps and the play store just says 21, but the consensus seems to be that the play store is wrong.

There is not a special version for T-Mobile:

Just got that right now, T-Mobile's announcement was confusing.
Thanks guys!
Definitely considering this phone, I love my S3, but Pure google is awesome.

According to a reliable source, TMoNews, on Twitter, T-Mobile plans to sell the phone at full retail price for $499.99 or $199 with a two year contract. I think T-Mobile must be out of its mind!

Long story bro, I had galaxy s3 international version, and I am using t mobile pre-paid atm so I was getting 2G only. So I was so freaked out thn put ads on CL, a guy call me that he wanna buy it for $500. I was like lets meet up, after few hours latter he came with a car and I was asking him to come to a public place but he was like he couldn't find that location etc. So I found him on a empty street, so he ask me to show him the phone. I gave the phone and box to his hand he was looking at it thn another car came behind his car. he was like let me give him pass. I was standing at the street close to his car window. he said let me give the other guy pass thn before i say anything he was gone :crying: everything was planed out for sure. $730 gone learn my lesson though.
Thn I went to t-mobile and buy out another S3 but it had some screen problem so I exchanged it and got another. Which has screen gap problem in left side. So yesterday I ordered a unlimited pre-paid plan with a S2 free phone, which is going to in my hands tomorrow. once i received it i will go to t-mobile and ask for a refund for S3, I have to pay restocking fee $50 and in the mean time i am gonna use S2 and wait for N4
No reason for Branded N4...
Why would you even WANT to buy the Nexus 4 at T-Mo? Way I see it is, if you grab the plain one off the play store... It's just that, Plain. No T-Mo apps, no chance of having a branded phone that'd have a lower resale value.
Like everyone, I'm planning on buying from the play store but would one that you buy from t-mo be unlocked, also or would it be locked to t-mobile?

T-Mobile is not releasing a customized version of the Nexus 4. They are selling the Nexus 4 identical to the Google Play version. That means no carrier modifications whatsoever.

Agreed! craigslist: always be carrying... I've always met in a public place, prefer starbucks (allowed to carry in the store) , always have my glock on me, if I didnt feel comfortable I'll walk away, have someone else with you as well.
Craigslist is too damn sketchy anymore
I cut back on craigslist transactions since I bought an iphone 4s unlocked. I was trading and selling lot of android phones always wanted the newest one. Traded my gs3 for an iphone 4s plus $200
The nexus 4 has me tempted to purchase it brand new and just have the iphone as a back up or possibly sell it. Would like to get 3g/4g services again instead of the 2g but I do really like the IOS

Would this work on att lte?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
This has been posted on another thread, but the Play Store specs were incorrect yesterday and have since been updated to show HSPA+ 42. This should mean that if your carrier supports those speeds the phone will take advantage of them. So yes for T-Mobile, no for AT&T (HSPA+ 21 only).
I can't post links as a new user, but you can go to the Play Store and check it out.

Tmo will be selling the same version as the play store (there only one version of the phone) so I plan on buying mine outright at the Tmo store to save on shipping. I live or work within walking distance of four Tmo stores, so its easier to go into the store then have it delivered. But this all hinges on Tmo charging $349 for the 16GB version.

[Q] Will the premium handset protection work for 8gb Nexus?

I was going to use the upgrade on my renewed classic plan to purchase the nexus 4, but it's absurd to pay 200 dollars for a phone that's only 150 dollars more unlocked. If I decide to buy the nexus 4 with 8gigs of storage on play store, will my premium handset protection plan cover the device? I know they have the 16 gb device, but in the event where the phone suddenly malfunctions to a point it cannot turn on, will they even be able to tell what storage my phone has? Instead of buying it on contract, I could be using that upgrade for a free on contract phone like the one s along with my nexus 4 at a very similar price as one 16gig nexus.

I'm sure they will be able to tell what size it is. You will want to contact the company and see what they say, just so you know what they will do in case something happens. But the phone should be covered by the manufacture warranty, I think for a year.

Or you could use your upgrade to get the best most expensive phone out there, say a Galaxy S3 or something, sell it on e-bay new, get like $500 bucks for it and just buy the 16 GB N4 and take the rest to the bank. Or buy a 3rd party warranty.
OR
Switch to the value plan for about $20 less per month and say to hell with subsidized phone

Interesting suggestion, however it's not my choice to choose to switch to value, as I'm on a family plan but if I get the 16 gig version, they'll cover my device completely right?

I think only if you got it from T-Mobile. You may still be better off to get the G S3, do the selling thing, and get the N4 + a 3rd party warranty, all kidding aside. If you get it via T-Mobile, you are paying like $600 bucks for it over the life of your contract.
Once you sign a contract, T-Mobile doesn't care what you do phone wise.
From what I've heard you can... I called T-mobile to see if I can transfer my PHP to the Nexus 4 if I buy it from Google play. The person I talked to said you can. I hope it's true. Idk if it's for the 8 or the 16 but I'm going to buy the 16gb Nexus. They said they just need the IMEI.

[Q] So all new tmobile phones will be unsubsidized?

Ive been waiting to use my upgrade since last october and now that the s4 has been announced ive been patiently waiting.......but it seems like there will no longer be any subsidized phones is that correct? so my best bet is to upgrade to the note 2 now and sell it and just buy the s4 cash.
So i just wanted to make sure that is the case from now on.
They'll sell you a phone for a small amount down and monthly payments added to your bill if you prefer to work that way.
The difference between that and the old subsidized plans is that the extra monthly fee will disappear when the phone is paid off, instead of turning into pure profit for the carrier.

The one exception are National Retailers (Target, Walmart and Best Buy), who will offer "Classic Plans" instead of "Value Plans";
http://www.tmonews.com/2013/03/t-mo...-classic-available-at-all-national-resellers/
Personally, I wouldn't get a phone from my carrier, a TV from my cable company, a laptop from my ISP.
That's what Google Play and Amazon are for.

Best buy deal for note 5

Looks like best buy is giving best deal on note 5, free wireless charger (the one for S6 not new wireless fast charging one) and $200 gift card on trade in of old smartphone.
Pre ordered mine but they are not shipping early as at&t is doing.
Edit:
Looks like I got best deal of all
I got
free wireless charger
a $200 dollar gift card for trade in (my phones value was showing $1, which I purchased on ebay for $30, moto g verizon postpaid)
and a $45 gift card from this deal http://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/sm...e-offer-143828 (I know the deal does not apply but still BB guy went through)
I used cards to pay for 30% down payment and taxes

Anyone know what kind of limitations there are on the '$200 credit for a smartphone trade in'? I have an old Galaxy S3 and HTC Evo 4G floating around. Would rather not part with my current Moto X when I upgrade to the Note. Would like to keep it around as a test/backup device.

AT&T is doing $200 off with a smartphone trade in and as long as it meets $10 on their trade in calculator they will give you the money, regardless of if it has a cracked screen. My LG G2 with just a cracked screen is worth $19 according to the calculator, however the headphone jack is busted and cracked so according to the calculator it's worth $0, but if it was JUST a broken screen it would have qualified for the $200.

Yes but at&t told me I have to spend all $200 on accessories (they did not have one for note 5 also) on that day only.
The wireless charger that is being given out is the current non-fast charging pad. If you read the fine print, it specifically has a SKU stated which is the same one being sold in stores currently.
As for the trade-in offer, the phone must be a postpaid type smartphone, and cannot be one that is prepaid or commonly sold on prepaid.

What phones were they? I feel like there isn't a clear description of what these phones need to be. One best buy told me it has to me the current phone on my contract, another told me it couldn't be older than a galaxy S3.
I have a Moto X 2013 I've had to use as a backup phone a few times. Looks like I would only get about $75-$100 on eBay. I might just trade that in. If I ever need a backup phone again, I'll just buy something for $50.

It only has to be worth something, go to bestbuys trade in page and look up any phone you have or wish to buy as trade in. As long as it's worth some sort of trade in value you'll get the full $200. It doesn't not need to be any phone currently on your plan, it does not need to be a phone on your carrier. Just has to be a working smartphone that you'd buy from a carrier "postpaid" basically any phone you'd buy with a 2 year contract. I did this last year for the note 4. I trade in my parents old Verizon Samsung fascinate it was worth 15 then and I got 200. And I have AT&T

I really hope T-Mobile sells this in store so I can take advantage of the jump program. After searching for answer it's still unclear. Does anyone have info on this or is it too soon?

I hope they sell them in stores because that way I can just go buy one, or at least play around with it. I'm still waiting for a video showing the Note 5 along side the 6p in a direct screen comparison. I'm torn between those two devices.
Not that we know of. You can get them from the Play Store (Currently sold out) or from Huawei at http://www.gethuawei.com/nexus6p
If your looking for a way to pay for it monthly you can get it financed via Huawei.
I still owe $300 plus on my Nexus 6 that I got last year. Can't use jump unless T-Mobile sells the phone themselves.
Some alternative financing options:
You could always JUMP to the LG 450 (currently the cheapest phone you can JUMP with). Pay off the $60 cost of the LG and now you're done with the N6, also if you cancel JUMP you save $10 per month. Of course you could always sell the N6 on Craigslist or Ebay.
Then you could either start a payment plan on a 6P from Huawei though Affirm (they do charge interest...)or order the 6P through Project Fi and use their interest free monthly payments.

I actually had the same question as the OP. That sounds like a pretty good solution.

I think you can buy the refurbished lg 450 for $29 and save even more money.
