So as a long time ParanoidAndroid user I obviously love Hybrid Mode, This morning I stumble across an Xposed Framework mod to install it on any device. Since we alrady know Xposed works wonderfully due to the Play Store mod would it work for this? I have already changed the dpi to 160 to fix a couple of sideloaded apps but it just destroyed the Ouya launcher (yes I like it) and would rather just do it on an app-by-app basis.
Anybody who actually knows what their doing care to try? I would but I'm just now learning to mod.and wouldn't be able to really get past any roadblocks.

I recently switched to art when my rom, liquidsmooth, released 4.4.4. I just wanted to give it a try for a few days just to see how things ran. Well soon after, I hear the next version of Android will do away with dalvik so I decided to make the switch permanent. My only struggle so far has been replacing the features xposed and the 15 modules i was using. I would like to know if there are others out there having similar struggles or if anyone has given thought to soon not having xposed.
Here's some of the things I've either been able to replace or haven't found an alternative :
* Using app launcher in gravity box assigned to a new softkey for quick access to dialer, sms, etc.
** replaced with sidecontrol
* greenify.
** tried it without xposed features, ended up with uucleaner. Not sure which I prefer
* disable location consent
** stuck dealing with it
* ad blocking (used a couple of modules)
** using adfree now. Not as happy. Seems to break a lot of sites/app functions. Maybe i just haven't gotten it completely configured right.
* being able to keep the navbar shown in full screen mode
** I'm no longer using fs mode. Would like to though.
Luckily my rom includes many of the features from xposed modules. A lot of rom devs have removed these from there roms with the thought that people could install them if they wanted via xposed. I wonder if the same thought process still applies. Maybe xposed will be enhanced to work with art, but what if it can't?
Crappalinks, it's awesome. Has anyone found an alternative? It disables the Tapatalk redirection in external links that seems to delay link handling as they get passed through Tapatalk's server first.
can't live without xposed, specifically gravity box. also, couldn't find a replacement for disabling the pesky location consent. hopefully, the devs will bring art support to xposed sooner than later.

Kravguy Is ART Runtime Significantly Faster than Dalvik ?
or is it just a minor speed boost in launching apps?
The developers of Xposed have already said that they will work on an ART compatible version once Android L is officially released.

For the most part, no. I've seen a bit of battery savings, but nothing significant. My main reason for switching was to prepare for the next version of Android. Flashing rom updates is a royal pain now cause it takes forever to optimize first boot. Hoping that will improve.

For the feature to disable location consent does app ops from the play store work for you ?
I use this to disable apps getting access to my location
Hope this helps
I still want access on, it's just the popup confirmation every time location is turned on.

Agree, camera and sound are the 2 pieces of sense that aosp has never been able to match. With viper4android, I can get close with sound, but still not as good.

This is due to the nature of open source drivers versus the closed sourced ones HTC uses for the hardware. It will never match and the OEM ones will always be better
For those who are looking for a good emulator for their PC and genymotion/andy doesn't quite cut it for you, check out Amiduos from http://amiduos.com/ I am working on some tutorials on how to root/debloat/xposed the emulator, I have them posted up on my blog: http://talesfromtheandroid.blogspot.com/2015/09/amiduos.html I am almost finished with the 2.0 part, but it is not hard to manually root.
Happy rooting!
Amazing! Great job, and thanks a lot for this. I was using bluestacks, but ya, that's a piece of crap compared to this. Amiduos is a lot faster. Everything went well following the instructions on your blog for the 2.0 version. I only have one problem, and I know that it's because snapchat is the most piece of crap app ever created in the existence of mankind. Seriously, I have never seen a more problematic app across so many devices. Anyway, ya, it crashes on Amiduos 2.0 .. It seems like it does the exact same thing as what happens on my old-school Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi (GT-P7510). You can install it and open it to the login/signup screen just fine, but once you login and it attempts to go the main snapchat UI (where it shows the camera open), it crashes to home screen. I can understand it happening on the Tab 10.1 because it's such an old tablet with old architecture, and I've actually confirmed that it is just the Tab's capabilities itself because I've confirmed with a few other users with the exact same Tab that they have the same issue with snapchat, but you would think it would work fine with Amiduos. This doesn't happen on bluestacks, but my issues with bluestacks were a whole other deal. First off, it's slow compared to Amiduos, but aside from that, I was able to root and get Xposed installed on the latest version. Snapchat actually opens and runs fine on it, but when attempting to use snapprefs (xposed module), it basically doesn't work. It's strange because it was actually working on the first try on the 0.8.11.3116 version of Bluestacks, but snapchat had an issue where if I logged out and then tried logging back in, it gave me some BS login error, and I had to essentially just create a new account. I ended up screwing a few things up in my attempt to solve the issue by clearing data and cache on a number of apps including the xposed framework, and ya, I basically had to reinstall bluestacks, root, install xposed, etc. At that point it wasn't working anymore lol. Snapchat will just crash when attempting to share a photo into snapprefs (that's how you get a photo from gallery into the snapchat editing UI), or it would just show a black screen in the snapchat UI. I'm not sure if I want to try genymotion/andy for my snapchat/snapprefs needs. I might just have to use my old-school jailbroken iPhone 4 to run a tweak that basically does the same thing as snapprefs. The only reason I liked snapprefs better (when it was working on bluestacks) is because it didn't affect the quality of videos that I shared from gallery to send through snapchat. Phantom for snapchat (jailbroken iPhone tweak) seems to do that. Would you happen to know what the issue might be, and how to get snapchat working on Amiduos?
AmiDuos 2.0 Root Solved !

So now that we have had time to play around with rooting and a couple of ROMS(thanks devs), Ive come to the conclusion(like many others Im sure) that which root you choose affects your ability to use one thing: Android Pay.
I was hoping to have AP working after root, as its a new "thing" and Im seeing it gain traction here in the North East. It does work on systemless, and thats awesome! It doesnt on a "normal" root install. But of course, I want to have all the modifications I can with my new toy as well. Being on VZW- its not too often that I can have a true unlocked phone to tweak as I please. Once Xposed was installed, it broke AP like using root normally for me.
So there is my dilemma for now- Im sticking with Xposed for the time being with systemless. Even though I was enjoying the Vanilla-ness of the Pure, I like to tweak the settings. And lets face it, Moto left a few things out. I Loved it on Samsung(Wanam) and I have found that there sure is a lot of stuff for the Pure/Stock as well. Gravity Box is great. So cool to ad the clear all button to the recent apps, along with having a different lock screen wallpaper vs Home page.
I'm guessing most here, especially are more for Xposed than AP! Any others have comparisons for the 2 different roots? Why do you use the one you use?
Hey guys,
up till today I'm still using a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with Android 4.3.
It is modded to the max to exactly meet my needs and "paranoia":
- Custom Rom TouchWiz based rom
- Custom Kernel with some special script based tweaks (for example: MAC randomization everytime I turn Wifi on - handy for time limited free access points and to prevent beeing tracked etc.)
- Full Disk Encryption with a password different than my unlock pin (so when the device is off it requires a long password, but when on only a shorter pin)
- Xposed with the "old" Xprivacy Pro, Greenify and lots of other useful modules (like device shutdown after x failed amounts of unlock password etc)
- Lightning Launcher (allows "pinned" widgets that do not scroll - like the clock always beeing shown on top of all my homescreens) and custom widgets made with UCCW
- Button mods (double tap menu button turns on/off auto rotation, long menu switches last two apps, long back kills foreground app etc.) and homebutton mod to turn on flashlight when held while device is locked (to turn it on blindly / without looking)
- Sidebar Launcher Appsi for all my apps (and using xprivacy to prevent certain apps from showing up in the list at all)
... etc etc.
It took me a long time to set up everything and whenever I bought a new phone I sold it soon after because they never could be modded that hard like my old note 3 could be. (not to mention the built in batteries - I HATE that so much about all new devices).
Long story short: The Mi A1 could maaaaybe finally be the device to replace my Note 3 - but for that I need to be able to really mod it hard again hehe.
What really is important to me is beeing able to use xposed and xprivacy (unfortunately the xprivacy lua is not that good as the old one as far as it reads in the description), controlling the device encryption with my own 20+ Character Passphrase while still having a shorter pin when the device is booted up (and it beeing "full device encryption" not just file based if that still exists?). Removing all google apps except the playstore (and the account manager - dont even want the google play services crap) and preferably beeing able to install modded playstore which does not autoupdate itself etc.

Do you guys think this is possible at all? And if so - should I stay with a 7.1.2 based rom or go for oreo? I mainly care about modability as I explained..
Hope someone is in the same boat or at least knows enough about this phone and the roms/kernels/availabe and working xposed mods to help me out.
There's pretty much no development for Nougat so it would be better if you were to get on oreo
Modabillity is pretty great with this phone so far
Look around on xda and see if you like it

but does xposed and stuff like modded playstore etc exist/work for oreo? and do you maybe know if its possible to have a different boot password than just the unlock pin when device is powered on?
and how about rootcloak and stuff like that? On my old note i can pretty much fake everything to apps and prevent root to be detected or feed them with fake data through xprivacy - but does this all still work to the same extend on the newer android versions? This safetynet bull**** has been around since when again? Can that still be fooled?

I'm not really sure about modded play store and boot password stuff but what I do know is that you can use Magisk (Similar to SuperSu + Extra useful mods) to hide root from certain apps that you choose
Xposed does work perfectly fine but it depends on the modules and whether they work on oreo. If not, magisk modules are also pretty good
If you happen to own a phone that you can flash Oreo on, (see, Lineage 15), then you can pretty much know and discover everything about Oreo and how modding works on it
Has anyone tested Synergy? I want to buy it as it supports One UI but I am not sure how well it supports the A20.
A lot of times, One UI functions like Good Lock(multitasking module) have bugs on the A20. Themeing might also have UI breaking bugs and I don't want to waste money on the apps only to find out that they don't work!?
Hex Installer too and it's plugins. Has anyone tried it?
I would greatly appreciate a review of both.
So, I caved in and, bought Synergy.
Here is my review.
It works for Swift Black and Flux themes. The only bug is the white notifications that can't be fixed although there is always an option in the themes that claims that it will solve the white notifications.
My fun was cut short by Liv Dark.
While trying to apply the theme, my phone went into a bootloop. Mark you, I am not rooted so I couldn't go to the custom bootloader and delete it! I had to factory reset my phone, loosing all my app data in the process! I managed to save my user files while on Safe Mode.
Funny thing is that Safe Mode wouldn't allow me to delete the offending apps. Third party apps are not listed on Safe Mode.
I advice people who want to use it to be rooted! A bootloader with a file manager is a must!
Otherwise, your phone might just bootloop randomly like mine!
I reinstalled Synergy! I tried the Swift Black theme.
This time round, I decided to theme only 3rd party apps abd avoid major system apps.
Here are the screenshots
I got the normal YouTube, Whatsapp, Chrome and Gmail to be OLED black.
I can't seem to get rid of the white notifications though. I haven't found a fix. The only fix I got is a system overlay tweak on a theme that caused my phone to bootloop!
Synergy was updated. They insist on a lot of reboots. After every big step (build theme), it requires a phone reboot. This way, bootloops are not an issue. I haven't got any bootloops since then. It is adequately safe now even without root.
Swift black theme/Synergy also fixed the White notifications. It works perfectly now.
I think Hex installer does more than Synergy. I will buy it one day and try it as it can change ui elements.
