Apps keep force closing....mainly xda - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Gets guys...I am running Freegs4 and ktoonesz kernel for about a week but all of a sudden today apps started to just force close. The worst is the XDA app which force closes as soon as I open it. I had to write this from my gs2. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck...I really don't want to restore...any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Maybe booting into custom recovery, if you have it, and wipe cache and dalvik, not data full factory restore. Then run fix permissions and boot back into system. I don't know if that would fix it but that's what I'd do as a last resort before restoring a nandroid or installing a stock ROM and kernel and seeing how stable that was.

change your kernel.

Market not downloading apps, not failing either

My market just displays "starting dowload" indefinitely when i try to download anything. And my google talk closes the instant that it opens. Any ideas on a fix?

+1 on needing a fix.

Have either of you done a titanium backup?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
I had that problem yesterday I had to un-root the phone I can't post the URL but you can find the thread in the 2nd page of fascinate and devlopement forum
it was the only solution I found and it helped
Im Having the same problem. Happened after flashing JT's clean ROM.
It's from restoring apps with Titanium Backup. For whatever reason, whenever I do this, it breaks my market no matter what ROM and whether I have Voodoo or not. Restore to stock, re-root, and everything, and you need to restore every app manually.
I did not use Titanium Backup.
I posted a new thread about this, seemed to work for me and a few others I tried. Check "for anyone having market issues"
Been having the same problem. I used titanium to freeze then defrost Market. Then did the same thing to Market Updater. Market works perfect now, but it reverted from the Froyo version back to Eclair. But it's better than not working at all.
Promise this will work. Just go to titanium and click on Market and then click Wipe Data. Do the same with Market Updater. All will be fixed.

Thanks for the idea.
Got anymore? Did this, and the thread mentioned above and no change.
I will have to try reverting to eclair if i can't get this working. Argh

This is an old issue, with several things to try.
I would first suggest looking through your application list and uninstalling any 0.00 sized files left as ghosts of apps manually removed. There will possibly be other smallish sized files left behind as well if you can identify them.
Force stop and clear market cache
Boot into recovery, clear cache and reboot.

I tried everything you just said above exactly. It still has the same result: "Starting Download" indefinitely.
I also tried using Titanium Backup to wipe data for market and market updater, but that didn't work either. I'm pretty frustrated that I can't figure this out
Got a solution. I was having the same problem with my Evo. Go to applications, then go to installed on sd. Move everything over to the phone. Then go to all applications and clear cache/data/and force stop it. That did the trick. You can move everything back to sd card after it fixes the market issue and it shouldn't happen again.

I also had this problem, I had to remove lagfix, restore older backup and start all over. It worked and all is well for me now. It sucks but it worked. I hope someone else can find a better solution. I even had jt reply and he said he didnt have that prob. Hopefully some will figure it out.

Uninstalling the froyo market and reverting back to the 2.1 market resolved this issue for me on 2 phones ... Mine and the wifee.
I had this issue, and I found out something peculiar. I was running JT's Super Clean rom with Market 2.2 and a Voodoo kernel, and the Factory Reset ran, but did not actually reset anything. After turning Voodoo off, I was able to Factory Reset, which fixed the Market issues.
Same thing here...
I was having this issue as well. Had to install JT Clean rom w/ wiping cache and data. Tried every suggestion in the book but none fixed it but wiping cache and data and installing JT Clean Rom.

Camera not working!

Hey all. I'm having issues with my camera and was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
I am on an Evo with 0004 hardware.
My camera was working when using CM6.1.2 and didn't work after I started using the CM7 nightlies.
My camera was FC'ing every time that I opened it.
After a while I read that clearing the camera app data through Titanium Backup would solve the Force Close issue. I tried it and sure enough, the camera started working. This was somewhere around nightly #11 for CM7.
Assuming I had fixed the issue, I kept up with nightlies and then did an entire clean install for RC2.
After I had RC2 installed, I tried using my camera and it no longer worked. I tried clearing the data again, as well as clearing both cache and dalvik cache and fixing permissions through ROM manager and nothing has worked. I also tried switching back to older nightlies of CM7 to no avail.
I just tried switching over to Myn 2.2 ROM and once again, the camera did not open and simply stayed on a black screen without FC'ing.
I NEED my camera to work and it appears to not be working on any rom, what can I do??

When you switched back to myns did you nandroid, fresh install, or fresh install w\ titanium backup restore? My guess is you are restoring app data from titanium backup or you have a bad camera

I did a completely clean install of Myn. Should I unroot my phone and redo everything?

If you did a fresh install of myns and didn't restore any titanium backups its looking more like a faulty camera. You didn't flash any kernals right? If you are you need to make sure the kernel supports the newer camera hardware.

I installed SZ over CM7 when I installed RC2 but I didn't install a kernel over Myn's and don't have SZ installed on CM which I'm running now. And as far as I know SZ supports all hardware versions so it wasn't that.

UPDATE:
I have unrooted my phone and the camera is STILL not working. I have no apps installed that could possibly be interfering with the camera. Time to take it into the Sprint store?
I dont see why not
I've had issues with different ROMs on the same hardware. It came down to different kernels for me. I'm running Virus-Infection now, but have found this kernel to fix the cam for me on different ROMs I've flashed.

Good Luck

Everything force closes.

So I been a Epic owner since OCT and had this problem a total of 3 times, im not sure what causing it at all. As soon as I turn on my phone 3 things force close in a loop, launcher pro, gingerbread keyboard, Some kind of google framework. While I can fix launcher pro I cant do anything about the others, some basic things wont even launch after the loop happens Ie the bower,Dial pad and my cam all cant launch. A format does the trick to fix it but I feel that a exterm thing to do, it a major pain to sign into everything and restore my apps. Im on SyndicateROM E05 atm. Im on the stock Kernel. So how can I fix this or prevent it from happing again?
It has happened to me a couple times, when my phone completely dies.
R u pulling your battery out before it does a complete shutdown? Data problems are usually caused by user errors. Reinstalling your rom usually fixes it. You could also choose to delete the data in the specific apps that are fc.

That sounds like that the source of a problem, So if I wanted to fix my Cam how whould I delete the data?

Hit menu, settings/applications/manage applications/all, then select the App that's giving you trouble. Then hit the clear cache and clear data buttons.

Also try 'fix permissions' in CWM.
When you say stock kernel do you mean the kernel that came with the rom?
If that's the case, then it is data corruption caused by sudden powering down of the device. Try using the journaling "on" version of the rom and that will fix it.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Syndicate's current ROM has severe file permission issues. I had this exact problem, so I fired up logcat viewer and found out that I was having a TON of 'permission denied' messages.
Download Rom Manager and do a 'Fix Permissions' or do it in CWM. I find that doing it through Rom Manager seems to be more thorough and effective as well as verbose though.
Now that you've done that, enjoy your Epic!

Wifi Error

When I try to use my wifi on CM 7.1 stable it just says error everytime I turn it on. So I tried to wipe everything again and reflash and that still didn't fix it. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Try wiping cache and dalvik n try it or try to reflash different kernel .or just the stock kernel 4 cm you may also of got a incomplete download. Did you maybe restore part of a old OS instead of just apps also?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
This answer was given to me by "teh roxxorz." This has nothing to do with your rom or kernel, do this:
Back up everything into Titanium Backup
Boot into recovery
wipe cache, Dalvik, and pretty much everything
reflash your rom, kernel and gapps (or if you would like to check out some other roms and kernels just click on the link in my sig)
once you've set up your phone download Titanium Backup from the market
in titanium backup restore all your apps ONLY!!! (don't get apps w/ data - only get apps, and do not get system data)
after this your wifi should be working just fine
p.s. if you would like to find out more about aosp roms/kernels check the link in my sig ^_^
The strange part is I restored nothing at all. It was a fresh start I will see if that works.
