PC can't recognize my HTC one - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am posting this because I have not seen this thread at all. Before I rooted my HTC one (m7) my computer recognized it perfectly. Now ever since I put in the Google Play Edition 4.3 Rom my computer can't recognize it.
My PC is running windows XP and I think has service pack 3. Please I need help make it simple easy to read steps.

Imei blocking is only towards that specific carrier, so yeah you should be able to do it.

I think is going to be blocked on all us networks dude

Using phone an external boot device?

Hey so I saw that they made a mod where you can jailbreak a ps3 through flashing the firmware on the phone or something ( I don't know it didn't work in the atrix) but my windows somehow locked my hard drive and I need command prompt to unlock. I was wondering is it possible to somehow put a live Ubuntu disc or a windows ISO( anything that's bootable) on my phone and bring my laprop back to life? I'm not able to burn any CD's right now. So yeah I think it'd be pretty cool if this is/can be possible. Or maybe some kind of webtop through usb that's able to boot off a laptop. I don't know. These are just idea that pop into my head. Not sure iftheyre possible CD

[Q] USB Tethering on linux?

Anybody tried that?
I'm running Linux Mint Debian Edition on my PC and the system doesn't seem to recognize the Oppo's usb rndis device when connected.
Weird since I never had to set up anything to make this work when using my old HTC sensation...
I own the international version of the phone and I'm actually running PA v3.68 on this bad boy.

Well, true enough, I swapped to a different ROM and it worked right away.
I'll try to report it to the P.A team.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Galaxy S4 Wifi Hotspot App

What wifi hotspot app do you use for your Galaxy S4?
Check out my thread from the other day. I'm not sure if there is an actual app amymore...I use to use barnicle but can seem to find it. Try the es file explore method, it works...as long as you're rooted.

Looking around
I come from HTC to a great Samsung G 4 and HTC was hard at times, but it taught me a lot about android. Don't know if anyone thought of this and i think i actually found what is being used.. Samsung Kies is able to restore factory firmware onto your SG4 by using the computer as a terminal, sorta like an htc ruu would do.. even downloads the info/firmware to your computer (including mf3) from what I've readhttp://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-I337ZKAATT
Wonder if thats how it is because you don't need to be a rocket scientist to work at best buy....

[Q] WiFi Connection Optimizer

I just switched from Sprint a couple weeks ago, where I also had an LG G2, to T-Mobile. I'm still loving this phone - enough that I couldn't justify giving it up to try the Nexus 5.
Anyway, one thing I liked about the G2 on Sprint was a Connection Optimizer (I think it was called). You know when you go to a public wifi and have to pull up a website and agree to their notice before you can use the connection? This handy little tool did that automatically for you on wifi networks you've previously connected to. I LOVED it. With the exception of Tom Thumb, it worked flawlessly for me everywhere I went.
Well I'm not seeing or finding that on the T-Mobile G2. Am I just missing it? Is it possible to install it or is it just a Sprint thing?
I'm not rooted yet and don't plan to be any time soon.
If someone can extract an apk you should be able to install it even if you're not rooted. I'm also interested in this as well

How would one go about making such a request?
I'll see if I can extract the app. I'll download the sprint kdz and see if i can find it and I'll extract it here in a bit

Looks like it's a no go because i was looking more into it and it looks like it's an embedded feature on sprint devices
although you can give WiFi Web Login a try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.syslynx.wifiwebloginapp
it says it does exactly the same
Thanks for looking into it, I appreciate it. I'll check out that app.
