[Q] Sprint Tethering Options - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I'm reading mixed reviews on what works and what doesn't work to tether a Sprint GS4. What are people using and how well does it work? Thanks!

In the how to root sticky in the dev section
There is a link to native hot spot

+1. Works great for me, and I've been using the heck out . Haven't really heard anyone complain about the native HotSpot, but maybe I missed some thread about it?

Wired tether

I was just wondering if there are any custom kernels with the permissions for wired tether included into it. I have searched all over and can't seem to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

download easytether from the market

Yeah only problem is that you have to pay for it. If somebody added permissions to their kernel for wired tether for root users u could tether for free. Just came from an evo so I didn't have this problem but thinking about returning fascinate and keeping sprint.

Says the kernel needs to be netfilter enabled

easytether lite is free, just doesn't allow https connections. You can also get the full version at that "other place"...
Are you running any custom kernels? The stock kernal works just fine using easy tether

you can get easy tether pro or pdanet pro on www.blackdroid.net for free. And i am not sure if i could post that on here so please delete this reply if that is something not allowed on here.
easytether I found to be more reliable...

Nothing is faster or more reliable than Wired Tether for Root users, in terms of wired tethering.
Upsetting that my Fascinate, and my friend's Droid X are incapable.
PDANet and EasyTether are OK.
But they communicate differently than Wired Tether, in a way that makes them inherently less reliable.
I wonder if a kernel won't be put together with it eventually.
I use it every day. I have to use my first-generation android phone (HTC Eris).
Yes that's very true

This belongs in the General section. Mods, please move this thread.
The general section where it wont get noticed? This has to do with development so it belongs right here

The general section is where it belongs. This thread has nothing to do with development. Are you teaching people how to use wired tether? Did you post an app for wired tether? No, so it belongs in General.
Yeah, I was wrong once, but we are in general....soooooo

Nexus S 4g and sprint apks

I know this sounds crazy but I miss not having my sprint apks. Is there anyway to get them on the nexus s and if so how? thanks in advance for the help
Search the the evolution section of the forum for stock sprint apps. Once you have them move them to your storage area and simply click on them and it will take to the install page. I installed sprint TV and it works fine.

can you please elaborate as to where the evolution section is.

I would like the Sprint visual voice mail app back
Here's how to get a few of them back:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/spr...-sprint-nascar-football-nav-tv-your-ns4g.html
You cannot get visual voicemail it will not work. Sprint tv works football does not, sprint nav works, not sure about nascar but I doubt it.

Football works for me.
Check Epic forums (what I came from). Android Central used to have a list at the beginning of the Epic forum - many wanted to add or subtract and it was handy to have for custom roms. I haven't checked it since I keep a folder on my desk, but this would be a good starting place.

YouTube not working over 3G or 4G. Works over WiFi.

Ok for about two days I been getting this annoying error connection with server has been lost when ever I go on YouTube app or browser. It's works great over WiFi but not on 3G or 4G. Called sprint and of course they was absolutely not help. So can someone here help me with this problem.

Mine is working fine, are you running a custom rom or have you installed a mod lately? Some details on your setup are needed to help you.

More app support for QuickWindow feature

Loving the QuickWindow feature of this phone, but disappointed by the small number of apps that support it and the limited functionality of it. The Galaxy S4 version allows for complete reading of incoming text messages as well as their dismissal. And also to visibility of who your missed calls are from too I think..
It would be great for Google Play Music to be supported also.
So I guess this is a request for development along those lines... Thanks!
Have you tried understanding XDA forums and learn where to create threads. Wow its getting annoying.

No I haven't. Sorry. I knew there were specific forums for specific purposes, and knew this was not the section to post a question, but thought a development request was fitting. I apologize. Admin, please delete thread as I've already posted it in the General Help Q/A section..

don't let it get to you !! and thanks for your hard work am keeping an eye on things and watching development of the g2 as I have an n4 and a g2 its brand new and although i'm rooted and twrp ed I am a little reluctant to mess with it until I know it a little better

rom recommendations?

i've been using LiquidSmooth for a few months and love it....except for one problem... ASOP doesn't play well with the Sprint network. before that Triforce was my driver
I've been trying to get my APN working on this "Echo" s5 port, but ive never had any luck changing these settings (help me!)
I really love the look/feel/options that come from ASOP roms, but apparently I need to go back to an ugly Touchwiz rom in order to reliably connect to sprint's towers (PRL/Profile updates)
So what do you all recommend in terms of stability and tweak-ability (xposed, etc)
right now im looking at NegaLite and Sac's
+1 for Nega. Super stable and devs his own kernel.

This should be in the Q&A section, but to answer you, both Nega & Sacs are impressive, Nega is more inverted however, I believe you can get the stock theme for it however, Sacs to me has more tweaks from multiple galaxy devices, but thats V6, the recent NG2 is still being updated.
Thank you both for your input. Nega seems good so far so i'll just stick with that until Sac has a chance to update. Parkourkid93, care to elaborate on what Sac used from other Galaxy devices? I'm quite jealous of ultra power save.
Sac Rom!!!

Of course you are correct - but they should know that the web view is only a short menu button away whenever signatures unseen are referenced
