[Q] Front camera grainy under fluorescent lighting - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have upgraded from an S3 to an S4 and very disappointed with the front camera quality. It works better than the S3 in low light but the pictures it takes under fluorescent light are as grainy as hell. The S3 front camera took great pictures under fluorescent light. This is a huge step backwards. Is it possible to get it to take better quality pictures?
Edit: There's also some noticeable grain when using the S4 front camera in daylight. The S3 one was perfect. Does anyone else have this problem? Or could I have a faulty phone?

Anyone?

i´d realise the same with mine, but no answer at all.

Front Facing camera

Hey!
I can't seem to find any samples or anyone even showing or mentioning the results of the front facing camera in any review.. From what I have seen on the z1 is that the pictures of the front facing camera are grainy like crazy if the light isn't perfect. Anyone knows if the slightly better hardware of the z2 camera gives out a better end result? Maybe anyone of you can link to some pictures on the web.
Thanks!
The front camera is just a 2mp ish camera which really all you want it for is 'selfies' which it will do the job.
From the samples I have seen Im pretty pleased with the results of the rear camera and low light pictures definately look acceptable.
Im on the LG G2 now and the camera is awesome, the pictures I take are amazing, until the light starts to fade, then it takes about 3 seconds to focus, if the object is moving its blurry and looks like a cartoon. Im just hoping the Z2 gives me the awesome pictures in daylight and ok pictures in low light which are not blured, that will do me. But as always I wont know until I test under my own uniqe conditions.

Really? No one has a Note 4 that takes grainy pictures with the front camera?

We do, but it's expected. It's the front camera. The sensor is small, and obviously it will be worse than the back camera.
Also check that you don't have the selfie filter set too high... in selfie mode, it is automatically enabled and it blurs your face etc... it works for me and my wrinkles.. LOL
lol
I have the beauty shot down to 0 and this still happens. And compared to a Note 10.1 for example, the pictures are horrible. I am not comparing it to the back camera!

Note 4 front camera HORRIBLE noise

Is it possible to capture a photo in broad daylight and have it look like this? The noise is HORRIBLE! (skin correction is turned off). I dont even dare take selfie shots. The results are ALWAYS awful not matter the lighting conditions.
This is during daylight:

This is at dusk, so its not completely dark:

No one? Everyone's Note 4 takes so bad front camera pictures? Oo
bump
This is unfortunately typical of the Note 4's front camera. The module's just not quite up to snuff - it's got a tiny sensor without OIS. Sure, the optics get a bit more light in, but at the cost of stretching things near the edges.
Skin correction "helps" things a bit I guess, by blurring the skin surface so you don't see image artifacts, but it makes other things in the frame blurry.
This is very weird. The Note 3 I had before had a better front camera than the Note 4!

I9500 Front Camera awefully grainy

Hey people!
I have an I9500 and i love the phone except that my phone's front camera totally sucks. There is a hell lot of noise in the pictures even in plentyful light. So much so that it seems that the pictures were taken with a VGA camera. The rear camera is perfect though.
I'm using the S6 Aurora Port v2.
Someone help me out please? I want good selfies back

Is the front video supposed to have really low exposure?

For some reason the exposure on the front camera is really low. When switching back and forth from selfie mode and video mode there is a huge drop in exposure, compared to the front camera where there isn't any difference at all. Looking at all the video tests for the front camera on youtube, they all look fine in comparison. I can't tell if this is a hardware defect or if the front video camera on the axon 7 isn't that great. Anybody else have this issue?

Hi, I have the same problem at low light but it's fine at good light condition. It seems that the back camera automatically adjusts the exposure at low light, but the font camera does a bad job. However, you can manually adjust the exposure thorough the vertical slider on the right. The algorithm of Axon 7's camera sucks!
