I went through the process of installing FFF and Teamwin to my kindle fire, and then successfully ran Jelly bean 4.2.2 and cm10. Everything looks to be working except I cannot access my kindle fire though the USB now. It it detected, but as a unspecified device. Ive tried running different drivers but none look to be working. When I let my computer detect what drivers could work on the device it selected android interface driver, they installed properly, but even then I cannot access the kindle fire through USB.
It is not much of a problem, but I would like to charge my device using the computer instead of wall charger all the time. If anyone has tips on what I can do to get this to work properly it would be appreciated.

Solved...I did not check USB debugging under settings. It will now connect to the computer.

Hey all, I think i screwed myself on this one.
So i just got my kindle 6.2.1. After working through the root tuts, i would update my kindle driver and i would get an error. Along the lines of the driver is not recognized on windows x64. so it would not let me update my kindle driver for root.
However after furthering myself to fix the solution.
my kindle all together will not connect to my pc. It will go into usb mode, then loops between the connecting circle and disconnect. My computer only recognizes it as "J" drive and not as kindle altogether.
Im stumped.
Edit: Solved it myself by just deleting drivers in device manager. Sorry!
Hey guys I'm a bit of a noob with this so bear with me if the answer is really simple and I'm just being stupid.
I rooted my Kindle Fire with Burrito root and installed market etc. That all works but now it's not showing up in my computer when the usb cable is connected. I plugged it into a mac and it came up straightaway. Adb was not recognising any device either.
I tried installing the drivers from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
No change.
I have tried rebooting and everything I can think of besides doing a full restore which I really don't want to do.
Please help!
Thanks
So i may have bricked my Kindle Fire. I rooted it successfully, did not install TWRP or anything similar. Installed the Android Market but could not get it to work so i "deleted from device" from my carousel and my Kindle turned off and couldnt turn back on Then I attempted the Kindle Unbrick Tool and tried that, but it seemed that it could not find my Kindle on my computer (I'm running windows vista) Even when i plug in the usb it doesnt make the happy little noise it makes when you plug in something. I went to device manager and saw that it was recognizing it both as "Android" and under portable devices, "Kindle" or a few times it came up as "L" which is the usb port I had it plugged into.
tldr; Unbricking tool is not "finding" my Kindle on my computer Also I'm kind of a n00b at this, as far as running codes and whatnot.
side note: My kindle is also low on battery at the moment. I have it charging right now, so maybe that's a factor?. When I turn it on, I get the Kindle fire logo but no animation, it still stays lit after that screen as if it's still on but nothing happens..Any advice would be appreciated ^.^
Hey, My kindle got stuck in fastboot too. It wasnt recognized by KFU and unbricking tool. Here is how I managed to recover to normal boot: Remove the drivers in device manager and reboot your stuck kindle fire, but do not unplug it (just hold power button for pretty long time till it shuts down, then just turn it on). Windows should recognize some device. now install adb drivers and launch KFU. If it sees your fire you are good to go, if not just try changing bootmode to 4000 as if it was recognized. BUT this worked for me. I do not know if it will work for you! I take no responsibility or whatsoever. Good luck sir. Do not give up
I had it working about a hour ago and rooted with burritoroot, but now ADB can no longer see the tablet. Any ideas? So far I factory reset the tablet and I'm stuck. USB drivers installed, win.ini and no connection. Mass storage works but ADB is at a loss...
When I hook my phone up, ADB sees it no problem, when I hook up the Kindle, nothing.....
I'm pulling my hair out here..........
edit...........ok I'm a dumbass I fixed it by mistake.
you should try manually installing the drivers again sometimes it doesnt work all the time but if that doesnt work you should also try installing kindle fire utility and installing drivers from there
lol didnt see you awnser it yourself
Thought it was worth mentioning. Yesterday I had a bit of scare having flashed system, data and SD card in my Kindle and not able to adb to it. Thought I had a fairly solid brick. Had drivers reinstalled and tweaked and PC rebooted to no avail. Turned out, the problem was with my USB hub. connected Kindle directly to the PC the adb went online just fine.
