MOD Edit: I have removed this as it is potentially dangerous. Wiping on any current stock ICS kernel could potentially damage your device, just because you successfully completed the operation once, does not mean its safe. Please read the warnings properly, if you would of done this first time you would know what i have just explained.
This is totally irresponsible and stupid advice that you are givig(PLEASE IGNORE IT).You do not know yet if your device is damaged tho i am sure you will regret your decision at a later date.to go against the advice given by knowledgable devs is inept at the least

Even you wipe cache and data with stock kernel, it doesn't happens everytime.
it occurs once in while, and no meaning for this kind of clue.
One more thing, if you wipe something you won't get error same time, this will reflect next time when you flash ROM, it stuck at certain point if last wipe caused damage to device.
I flashed crisko rom now and was succesful..so no errors..n to prove me i did the same on my frnds note n it workes evrytime....

Just hopping this will be deleted soon. Even if you did 100 successful wipes that says nothing. If thousands of people flashing this way even one brick per thousand flashes would be a huge mess.

Really wish there was a "No thanks" button for ridiculous posts like this.
If you had even bothered to research this issue, you'd find that there are plenty of people who successfully wiped dozens of times on stock ICS kernels, yet still got bricked by their last wipe.
It might not happen the first time, it might not happen after 100 wipes, but that doesn't mean it won't happen, so the safest course of action is to use Abyss.
hit thanks if u find it intersting n useful

Taken from your first post. You are indeed advising an unsafe method. ..anyone new could quite easily brick their device after reading your post

Thats the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. NO ICS kernel is 100% safe from the eMMC brick bug.
If you want to be safe, then only full wipe by using Abyss 4.2.
Maybe you already caused some bad blocks in your partition, and you just don't know it.
Also, your grammar is horrible to look at, it hurts my eyes

Indeed, I believe that's what happened to mine. After what has been written so much about on these forums, its just simply incredible we see an OP like we now have here.
Total BS. How on earth did the OP flash a ROM from stock recovery?
I would say stop dicking around and don't risk others' phones.
If you want to get thanked post something that makes sense.
There have been superbrick incidents on the latests Firmware as well.

It seems you have not read any of the sricky notes & warnings pasted throughout the forum. Pls. do not misguide. You even risked your friends device. Pls. understand the seriousness of the situation & also convey the same to your friend.
? Has anyone actually figured out the 3rd factor in this emmc brick bug yet? Like to make it brick every single time? Like. Factor one is having faulty chip, factor 2 is wiping on unsafe kernel, and factor 3 the thing that makes it brick everytime cause there must be something else involved otherwise everyone that wiped would get bricked?

Hi,
I want to flash the I9500XXUAMDE_I9500OJKAMD9_ILO.zip Stock ROM (Full hebrew , designed for GT-i9500) on a factory unlocked AT&T SGH-i337 using ICS 4.2.2.
I tried flashing it using both Odin and TWRD recovery with no avail.
IMHO the problem is with the CSC , I cannot change my CSC to ILO.
I hope there is a walkthrough for this.
In the worst case I need ANY FULL HEBREW (with RTL menus) Stock ROM (with no AT&T apps) for SGH-i337. :fingers-crossed:
THNX ALOT
That would be very, very unwise.
I9500 has the exynos octacore system while the i337 (and i337M and i9505) have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 silicon.
If you manage to flash that i9500 rom into an i337, you would be pretty much guaranteed to hard-brick the phone.
There are very good reasons why the variants of these phones have their own sections of forums
NO!!! Dont do it! You'll hard brick your phone
yes its possible. but it will hard brick it for sure.
THnX AlOt GuyZZZ :good:
It seems I inadvertently bought the better phone it has the same specs as the GT-i9505 which leads me to the question will the SGH-i337 support GT-i9505 ROM ? :fingers-crossed:
BTW "Brick" status (unsuited firmware flashed on hardware) is unrecoverable (physically damages the hardware) ?
I won't be able to boot into recovery/DL mode and flash a working ROM ?
Had a friend flash a i9500 rom as soon as the att g4 was released. He visited the jtag box. HARD BRICK. No you can not run those roms. Besides, for every i9500 rom released they do a i9505 rom also..or very soon after. In my guide is the list of i9505 roms that will work for you.

yes they are; root, install recovery (one click three way is easiest, and who DOESNT like a good three way?), and make sure its an auto-loki ROM. There are touchwiz (keep samsung features) and AOSP (no samsung features; closer to stock android), and Cyanogen nightlies that have several issues.
I am running Goldeneye 1.3, Ktoonsez kernel, Xposed framework with multiwindow hack, etc. 100% stable, 100% smooth; all Samsung features work fine. Based on an international ROM, and screen smear is fixed, camera is quicker too.

Hi Axman,
In this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295557 is there a ROM with Full RTL Hebrew menus ? that's is the prime attribute I'm looking in a ROM right now.
Let's be more specific unlike what you've said currently there is no "Hebrew" ROM for the GT-i9505 (official in sammobile.com or non-official) is there a way/is it possible to customize the current official GT-i9500 Stock (meaning no carrier apps, am I correct ?) Hebrew ROM http://hotfile.com/dl/207318277/2500212/I9500XXUAMDE_I9500OJKAMD9_ILO.zip.html to work on SGH-i337 device ? If yes, how hard is it ?

again, the link you have here is for the i9500 stock right? And you are trying to flash on i337 att, it will brick, This is NOT good. maybe you can ask the dev of that rom, and see if he has any way you can do this.
I am not for sure about this, but I think Wanam and Omega roms have hebrew.
I could be wrong, but upon first boot, it has many language options.

Hey Ax , Sorry for the lag I was hell busy this weekend...
I don't need something fancy , just something that will let me check the ROM's initial boot and config.
I could give it a try what's the program's name ???
I wonder why there isn't an Android OS emulation option in Orcale VirtualBox
One Q is very important - does the factory unlocked (GSM free) feature is ROM dependent or it's built in (flashed in) the device (e.g my SGH-i337) ?

I know that the att galaxy s4 has the same exact hardware as the Google play galaxy s4, so if someone dumped that phone, bootloader and all, and flashed it to att model, would it unlock the bootloader and would it run that rom alright? I kind-of want to have the updates not directly from att so I could get stuff like the app2sd quicker.
Thanks, Tommy

Locked boot loader is in the hardware, no matter what you flash, it won't change that. Having said that, there are several roms floating around, give one a try as they still work on our devices, I would not trust a raw dump as that might have a different boatloader that will screw the phone ge

It depends on the Rom. Some won't, others will. The Google edition is a tw Rom, but brings the look, feel and functionality of asop. You will have to research the Rom.
It's often necessary to wipe a phone when changing roms. If you start flashing, I would almost count in it being needed

Well thanks for help, but I will do anything to avoid a wipe, that's the last thing I want to so, even with titanium backup I don't feel secure enough to risk wiping and restoring it. I also don't want to raise the flash counter any if I ever need to use my warranty. And I don't trust that flash counter reset thing because it could brick phone.

Then stay stock. If you're going to flash a rom you have to do wipes most of the time. If you don't you'll end up with lots of problems that will force you to start all over. Just make a nandroid backup in your recovery before flashing and you'll be able to get right back to where you started if you have a problem.

We understand that you are new at this. But you need to be more clear with us so we can provide help. You are holding a $650 phone and entrusting us with helping you modify it. More info is needed and more research is needed on your part. You need to be fully aware that you could end up with a expensive paperweight if something wee to go wrong. I tell this to most new comers. Rooting and custom ROMs are great. But not in the hands of someone that had no real idea of the consequences.

Here's the problem. You have incorrect punctuation in your post. Leads us to believe you have an i337 where from your other posts you say you have a i337m.
You need TMO kernels not one from "this" site
Maybe reflash your recovery, and still need to know what rom you are on as KT has kernels for TW and AOSP. I don't see any listings for "mri" so a link would help.
If you are doing things off the web--stop--and start using XDA for your info and downloads.
There are good Guides here to get you started.
Seems like when you have an issue you just ask someone for the solution, from reading your posts anyway--?
As graydiggy said, lots of reading required here to protect your investment--

Sure but here nobody cares about that also i just got tired of full wiping for where new update. Is it possible to do what I want?
Why? Your device is a rare one. When you do decide to sell it, the value will be at least $100 more if not more with the MDL bootloaders vs the MF3 or higher bootloaders. There is a ton of custom ROMs all better than stock for this device. You can even flash ROMs from other carrier S4s. If you are worried about wiping data because of losing stuff, titanium backup will save you a ton of trouble. Also, it is not a requirement to do a full wipe for a ROM update. It is suggested because if you run into a problem, you can report it to the developer properly. I only do full wipes when going to a different ROM. I can promise that you will regret updating. Like I said, there are a ton of ROMs that are better than stock. Battery life, performance, storage space, etc. There are also ROMs that are almost completely stock.

I still say, make someone on these forums very happy with your MDL firmware, and sell them your device. I'd recommend swappa. Then go buy what you desire with the money. If you shop around, you an find a very good deal on a MF3 or higher S4 and you'll have money left over.
You can do so much with your MDL firmware. Maybe try a different rom for a while. Oh, and just because a developer updates the rom, doesn't mean you have to. If everything is working great, why touch it?

I'm not sure sure but there should be just a stock 4.3 ROM for at&t or the i9505 around the forums somewhere. Goldeneye is pretty much stock but optimized and with crude removed.

I have MDL on my wife's S4
Hello guys. I am running into a lot of problems wih my wife's s4 on MDL. It has been a while since I tweaked any gadget i have because of our baby. I was wondering what I can do to fix everything. NOTE: Everything is stock
The problems are:
1. I cannot use the tethering option. We are currently in the philippines right now and we have a plan on globe that offers tethering and 4g LTE.
2. The battery life if very poor. The battery on the phone is new and I dont think it is the battery because;
