(Q) Custom capacitive button controls? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Is there any type of app I can download where I can set custom actions to my capacitive buttons? I know it's a feature in CM10.1 but I much prefer tasks aokp.

Cyanogenmod 10 nightly question/help

Hey all just installed one of the official cyanogenmod 10 nightly and I love it. But I have one issue with it.
When I hold the home key to use Google now it brings up the recent apps menu how can I disable this action.

Swipe up from the home button instead. There is no way that I know of as of now that you can disable it, but swiping up will not activate the app switcher

It cannot be disabled in the rom. CM does not have the custom navigation bar controls like AOKP has. If you want the added customisability, you should try AOKP

How to use PRIME ROM's PIE control?

Hi guys. I just flashed this new custom ROM. on the setting, interface, what is PIE control? How do i use it? Tq.

Enable it and find out? Or do a super simple Google search that would have taken less time to find out than create this thread.

YouTube.

PIE is basically a fancy set of soft keys. It is activated by touching a trigger area. It is mainly used in place of a navigation bar so that you can use the entire screen.
You are able to adjust the trigger area to the top, either side or bottom.

Oic. I get it now. Tq.

You can set up something similar in the AOSP browser (SETTINGS>>LABS>>QUICK CONTROLS)... and with EXPANDED DESKTOP enabled (in CM based ROMs), you have 100% of your screen given over to what is being displayed... so no nav or status bar.
Everything is controlled via the PIE touch selection, usually with your thumb.
I'm not a big fan to be honest... I can see the attraction with a 'phone, where screen 'real estate' is at a premium...
...but on a tablet... ???

Galaxy s4 Swipe up action in touchwiz

Anybody know how I can get the Swipe up action? for example to bring up recent apps or currently running apps. I used nova to do this however I'm not a fan of this launcher overall, I had an iphone 5 with the zephyr tweak and I want something similar to this. Please let me know

You will need a non stock launcher for that. TW does not support this and I have never seen one modded to do this either.
It is what it is...
You mean long-pressing the home button? Or you want a swipe up gesture to do that? Because as far as I know that's not possible. You'd need Nova or the like to do so.

Get Nova Launcher Prime. It supports a bunch of gestures and its wicked fast.
Yup exactly I want a Swipe gesture to replace the long press home button.

You'll need a different launcher. Luckily, the Android eco-system contains many different options.
Personally I prefer Apex Launcher but people also seem to like Nova Launcher quite a bit too. I set the swipe down to open my app drawer and the swipe up to directly launch Google's voice search, but the combinations/options are really endless.
Try both, or others and see what you like.
Try swipepad free from the play store, it is the best swipe launcher you can use with ANY launcher. You can set up your favorite apps or recent apps. It works so smooth.

Is there a way to activate onscreen buttons?

Like instead of the capacitive and home hardware buttom. A line at the lower part of the screen is used to show on screen buttons

I've always used the line that you add to your build.prop file and it adds it by itself but it doesn't work in the note 3, I tried it and it went into an infinite systemui force close, so I guess it's a no go.
I'm also interested in them as I use the s pen too much and I hate pressing the home button with it.

there's a simpler way
just install this from Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fatedevgroup.softkeyenabler&hl=en
SoftKey Enabler
Darn it has to be rooted

Nope it doesn't work even if I'm rooted

I'm using Swipe Home Button. It uses gestures for various actions. It's not perfect, but it keeps my pen off the home button. No root required. I have it paired with a "screen off" app, so I can avoid using the power button, too.

There's also Virtual Button Bar, which is more of a pop-up menu of icons (can be set to always be visible). It's not being developed anymore, but it still works, and served its purpose while I was using it.

On screen soft keys

I have a Sprint Galaxy S3 rooted with the stock 4.3 ROM w/o KNOX. I have BusyBox installed as well.
I just enabled the onscreen soft keys through the build.prop file and I'm wondering if there's a way to change the "recent app" button to the "menu" button. I just got a new case and getting the the hardware keys is kinda pain now.
Any ideas?

I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but have your hard of ultimate dynamic navbar? It displays soft keys on screen for you and you may customize them however you'd like. You can even have the navbar automatically hide itself until you need it so you're not wasting precious screen real estate

screen sort
Use volume - and power kye
