Hey all just installed one of the official cyanogenmod 10 nightly and I love it. But I have one issue with it.
When I hold the home key to use Google now it brings up the recent apps menu how can I disable this action.

Swipe up from the home button instead. There is no way that I know of as of now that you can disable it, but swiping up will not activate the app switcher

It cannot be disabled in the rom. CM does not have the custom navigation bar controls like AOKP has. If you want the added customisability, you should try AOKP

The title says it. I like Samsung based Rom for it's rich icons, S Pen and S Memo and I Iike the navigation bar from cm9 and aokp based roms. Since I can't find such a rom or I have missed it, I'm using LiquidSmooth now, which is a great rom with Navigation Bar.
Hope something can give me some information or link to making this possible. Thanks.

I wonder how hard it would be to get those Samsung apps to work on ROMs using the Franco kernel? As far as I know, it's based off of the stock ICS one.

I found a solution to get the ICS recent apps and home button using Button Savior and Task Changer Titanium, in case someone is interested. Now, I can use Samsung based rom and even add on Samsung Chinese keyboard if necessary. Now using a lite version rom based on Alba's full rom.

Hi, I'm looking for a ROM where you can tweak the navigation bar like in AOKP.
Unfortunately I tried last AOKP build but the battery life is horrible (even with franco's kernel).
So do you know any rom with this feature? (Or a flashable zip)
CM10.1 has it.
Where?

It isn't. It's a cherry pick.
It's CM 10.1 + Cherry Picks (Unapproved additions that will be added once approved by CM team). So basically u get features faster that are not yet approved because someone on the team didn't approve of it yet.
Thanks you guys, its perfect!
Should i use the stock kernel?
What do you use?
CM10 stock does have it, in the power menu options
I use Matr1x
Just flashed 20121211 eurosskank cm10.1 and I dont see the option...
Yeah, that is the main feature I am using AKOP for.
If there was a stock ROM with Nav bar button and size mod and status bar mod only, I would totally hit that up
Anyone know how?
looking for the rom that lets you add and rearrange the soft nav buttons. is codename android coming out for n4?

It's there. You have to flash jellybro which is a unofficial release with cherry picks. Check android development the thread is in there. You can flash that Rom on top of Cyanogenmod.
I don't understand why people flash the official one when jellybro has cherry picks of cm features not yet merged yet. Jellybro is so much better.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the default app picker on the cyanogen ROM? I don't like having to click more than 1 button to select the app that I want to use. Aokp and slim both have the option that I am looking for, but I prefer to use cm because LTE seems to work better for me.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.anyro.picker&hl=en
and also an exposed module that does that
Since Nexus 4 runs on stock Android, what does Cyanogenmod offer as an extra?
Quiet hours and volume wake are simple features that I miss when on stock. There are many other changes.

I haven't tried it yet, but some report that Bluetooth MAP works with CM 10.1 and probably 10.2. That is something that cannot be achieved with an app, or that I've found, with a mod.

LED control & pulse battery light, custom toggles, expandable desktop with PIE, center clock, battery percentage icon, theme chooser, privacy guard, built in file manager, dsp manager, reboot menu, navigation ring slider shortcuts, lock ring slider shortcuts, custom lockscreen background, sliding across the status bar to adjust brightness, quick message pop up, volume wake, profiles, cm clock, tunable kernel etc etc
Sexy Nexy, AOKP
While people will tell you CM sucks in terms of features compared to what other ROMs offer, I think it has the most useful and best implemented features, even though it doesn't have every little tweak and customization that other ROMs do. There are hardly any reasons not to use cm; there are so many advantages. I couldn't get by on stock because of the lack of features.

how does CM compare to Paranoid Android? Are they both stock android with tons of customizable functions?

Yeah, pretty much. Those two, Carbon, AOKP, all AOSP ROMs with different customization options and features. I'm partial to AOKP myself.

This should help, an infographic of features in the popular ROMs:

A very simple answer would be: to be able to customize. There are a lot of ROMs out there, pick the one that satisfies you in any way of customization.

This is an addition to what people said why you should use cm of other roms can be somed up in one word. "stability" cm has a record for being a robust rom with alot of support. Most roms don't have that.

Can some one create a flashable Mod for rooted stock rom, which allow to add and edit the quick setting panel as the CM has one?
This is the feature I most miss on my Nexus 5 by far with the stock rom, on my previous phones I had alwasy CM roms installt. Maybe I will also do with my current N5 when official nightlys are available.
Thanks in advance!!
Solution:
Install Xposed framework

And install Gravity Box

I highly recommend Cataclysm Rom, the best rom for Nexus 5 by far imo. It has almost every mods and tweaks you need except for theme chooser, etc.
I want the same. I want to keep stock rom as I love the pure aosp.

Stock is not AOSP. This is Google's version of Android. AOSP is the open source project that everyone works from.

Google really nailed it with the Nexus 5 and 4.4. This is the first phone I am not running to root, unlock, and start flashing away stock. With a few *minor* tweaks such as quick settings customization it would be near perfect.
I want to add screen orientation and flashlight to the quick settings. Google why cant you just be smart!
Just use Power Toggles in the meantime.

I definitively will give it a try, it looks really interesting.
Just wait for Xposed Framework, lets you modify stock without reflashing, etc. It doesn't work yet since 4.4 breaks everything in it, but the developer will probably have that all fixed up by the end of the month if I had to guess.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
I still don't get why Google didn't make this feature. The Quick Settings Panel hardly improved from Android 4.2. I would stay 100% stock ROM if Google added this feature, battery percentage (no not the crappy white one that's in there now) and long press volume rocker to skip tracks.
