there is no reason why ti should work on whatsapp and not on browser , anyway try resetting the phone and try to get some proper configuration from your service providers.

Hy guys
I have a little question and i hope that you can help me.
I don't understand why if i'm connection with my smartphone to internet with my wifi connection i can only see the mobile version of some sites.. This is for me a problem because:
1 some websites that i see are very different between mobile and standard version and i can't switch from mobile to standard in some cases (only some site allow me these).
2 in Italy some.sites of news about sports and general news request a payment to see the news..but only if i see this notice.from my smartphone.. If i see the normal version i dob't pay.anything...this is a classic incredible Italian story..no comment!!
I remember that with other device if i'm connecting by my wifi i can see a normal web sites...
Some.people can explain and help me?
Thanks in advance!

Sites with mobile versions will usually automatically link you to them if they detect you are on a mobile browser. When you connect to a website they have access to what operating system you're running and what browser. Once it sees you're running a mobile browser, they redirect you.

On what device? What ROM? etc.
HTC EVO 4g , with no Rom, and that's it.
Hello, I have had my nexus 10 for a couple if months. I have it rooted running stock andriod 4.2.2
The internet browsers seems work OK but every time I click on a link I would receive s
Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION-REFUSED): the server has refused the connection
For example, I can type in amazon.com in the address box but if I try to access a product through a link, it would receive the error message. I noticed that happening when I click on the links label "top suggestions" in google search. This is also happening on multiple browsers (chrome, dolphins, naked)
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you either have some kind of AdBlocker installed or your using a DNS service that's blocking certain sites.
Can you get to the sites that error from another PC on your network?
This could be from optimizations to your DNS and such, which I have seen on my tablet before. It could also be something weird with your network, or maybe even the web browser itself. Have you tried other browsers?
Yyes. I can get to other sites from other devices. Its just the nexus 10 that is experiencing the problem. How would I go about resetting the DNS config?

http 400 is usually due to the "HTTP status code" or "the bad syntax" , Are you on a custom ROM? Any MOD to DNS server setting on your phone ?

I've read random articles that state some apps or vpns can assist getting free wifi connections or Internet in general. Anyone familiar with any of this?

Short answer: NO
They are probably scams. VPN-apps don't give you free wifi they connect to VPN-servers through your internet connection and that VPN-server connects to the server of a website you are browsing (e.g. google.com) or service you use (e.g. Viber) this way the site you are browsing or the service you use won't know your IP-address instead they will get the vpn-server's IP-address (great if you get banned from a game for example or a service is not available in your country), but they can't give you free wifi or internet. There is an app called Opera Max though which will compress the data you use through a vpn server and will (probably) reduce your data/wifi usage (with showing the same amount of content). Works best with video/picture downloading/viewing. I've had a great experience with it. It may be a little bit slower than usual but it might use half the amount of data/wifi.
