[q] mobile sites not working - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When im inside the facebok application on my galaxy s 4, when I tap on an external link i.e. funnystuff24/7 it will navigate me to my internet browser then it will come up with an error message advising "please visit from your mobile phone! This page is made to work for mobile devices!".
I AM USING MY MOBILE DEVICE
I cannot fathom why this isnt working.
Troubleshooting I have tried so far:
- Deleting and Re-installing the application.
- Changing the default browser settings for facebook in case it was a browser issue
- tried requesting the desktop site wouldnt display.
- cleared data and cache both from facebook and the browser am using
- have used my friends samsung galaxy note 1st gen, logged her out of the mobile app for fbook and logged myself in tapped on the exact same link and it loaded just fine.
so all these had no success, it is clearly and issue with my phone but I really cant think what.
If you have any advice for me on this matter it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

HTTPS pages problem.

Since yesterday, I'm having a problem over 3G.
The default browser when I try to access any https page:
Data connectivity problem
A secure connection could not be established.
.. Weird thing, happens with everything, web banking, google account login, google buz, etc
Isn't the provider, because opera can access any of them, and I could live with opera, but also a couple of applications like 'soundhound' I think they use https also, because won't work , but If I go by wi-fi, everything comes back to normal.
Someone told me about cleaning APNs, did, but the same result.
Using rooted 026 version, everything fine from months ago, but yesterday started with this weird problem
I have a similar problem. In the default browser, when I try to log in to my online banking account (Westpac), instead of displaying the page like normal it downloads it and I have to open it from the downloads. It's weird and I cant actually click anything on the downloaded page. But in Opera it works fine, so does anyone know if there's a fix and how?

exactly, opera mini works fine, but the problem isn't only about using Opera, it's that another 3 applications seems to use https
gtalk
gmail
buzz
and I can't post buzz with the widget, not use gmail app, not even gtalk.
soundhound also works only on wi-fi.
I can play some games without wi-fi, just 3G, access most pages.
The only problem seems to be https on 3G.
Already read a lot of workrounds on other devices, but seems isn't related to my problem.

FaceBook connection problem!!!

I try to use browser to view facebook but it show connection error,so can`t play FaceBook games. it's that any fix?
In the address bar type about:debug and then go to settings>debug and change uastrings to desktop then type about:debug to get out of debug again
You can do what he said, but I found that I would often go back to android mode. So I have switched to dolphin browser HD and set it to desktop mode as default and have a gesture set up if I want to use mobile mode. Much easier and no problems with Facebook or other sites yet.

I had this issue. Only started after installing the facebook app. I uninstalled the app and clear cache and changed uastring to desktop and it works pretty good. Only issue is after several hours of the tablet being idle and the tab open I see the issue pop up. I close the tab and launch a new one and I am good to go.
thank you for reply
im having serious facebook issues on my tablet too!
the facebook app never worked for me properly (couldnt see the feed screen) so i uninstalled it. I also tried connecting my facebook in Pulse Newsreader but that also didnt work either. Only way I could get it working was via the built in social jogger app which actually has quite a nice interface but is somewhat limited.
Also last night I tried browsing facebook via the default browser and it loaded the first time and then stopped loading after clicking a 'see all comments' link.
anyone know the cause?

facebook error?

Hello everybody,
I tried searching for it...but I haven't really found a solution. There seems to be some kind of problem with getting on facebook with my tablet. When I type in facebook.com it gives me an error: "connection error, try again" There also seems to be no facebook app for honeycomb at the moment, so are there any other solutions at the moment for getting on facebook with my tablet because as of now I am unable to do so. If anyone can help me out that'd be awesome. Thank you ahead of time. You guys are the best!
P.S. I have only tested facebook on the stock browser and Dolphin HD Browser and I am running PRIME! 1.5
facebook is in the top free apps section of the market, can't search it otherwise. If you get network error, change your browser's user agent to desktop in settings, that way it'll stop using the crappy fb mobile site.

Hm I'll try the browser thing, not quite sure how to do that but I'll figure it out. As for the facebook app it says my device is incompatible?
Oh hell yeah. Facebook works now after I changed the user agent. Thanks!

Google web suggestions don't work

Hi,
I got my galaxy note upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 recently.
I am facing a weird problem with my default internet browser when it comes to google website.
I access google website (www.google.com) and it automatically gets into the mobile site version as normal.
I type anything in the search like (yahoo) and it gets me the suggestions like ( Yahoo, Yahoo mail, Yahoo finance , etc.), beside every suggestion there is an arrow "used to write the web suggestion in the search area if needed" .. till this moment everything is normal.
But, when I try to press on the web suggestion to go directly to it, it does nothing. for example, when i press on (yahoo mail) the page doesn't act and still it stays in the original google site. I tried to use dolphin browser and it doesnt have the same problem.
I have resetted the default browser to its default, deleted the cache and the data... but it didn't help.
Please, let me know if anyone faced the problem and knows a fix.
Thanks alot,
Gano

you can try setting your browsert to te desktop version. This being done by going to browser, then pressing menu button, then select teh 'desktop view' check box. See what happens when you do that.
Assuming I've unerstood your issue correctly ...
you need to press on the arrow, NOT on the suggested text with which it is associated. Once you do that, the corresponding text gets automatically filled into the google search field and you can then hit the magnifying glass (or done on keyboard) to send the search query.
Thanks jeffs... I tried the desktop view but it didnt work...

[Q] Keyboard Error (Stock) am I the only one?

Just got my s5 yesterday. Love the phone so far. Just one problem in the twitter for android app. when I do a search in the app (for example - looking up a twitter user) when I click their name I get a message saying unfortunately Samsung keyboard has stopped. I only get this error in this app doing this search function. I have deleted the cache for Samsung / twitter / uninstalled and reinstalled twitter and did a reset of the phone - the error continues. Does this sound like a phone or an app problem?
Thanks for the help.
I've never seen that error, so just you. Or more likely something with your app or phone configuration.
I'd guess it's a problem with your Twitter app, a bug or incompatibility in how it passes information to the keyboard, causing it to crash. Try going into the Settings menu application manager and clearing both cache and data for your Twitter app and the Keyboard. Note that clearing data will remove customized settings and passwords..
If the problem persists, try using a different keyboard.
