Notification syncing between devices from Google I/O - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has this been released already? Because I'm not getting my notifications synced between my Nexus 10 and SGS3.
Do I have to do anything in order to enable this feature or what?
Enviado desde mi Nexus 10 usando Tapatalk 2

It was released the day it was announced, but apps need to be updated to take advantage of it. The Hangouts app was the first and only app I'm aware of using the new api for this so far.

And inconsistently at that, regretfully. I still hear the chime, and they definitely don't seem to have it working seamlessly across iOS/Android yet. But if I wake any of my tablets from sleep, I can now expect a flurry of five or six Hangouts notifications before the system realizes its mistake and drops out.

My biggest problem with it is that it doesn't play nicely with LightFlow. It's always been a problem that LightFlow has no way of knowing when notifications are swiped away, but it's even worse now that it can be triggered by notifications that are gone before you ever see them.

Google Play store loads app pages very slowly on the G2. Anyone else?

For example, when I am looking at my own list of installed apps and then select one, it pauses for 2-3 seconds before jumping to the app's page. This happens consistently, but I've never seen such a delay on my other devices (Nexus 4, Nexus 7). Does anyone else's seem to pause there a lot longer than it should?
Other than that, the phone is very fast!

I'm having the same problem as well. Most of the time I'll click on an app and the phone just sits... and waits... until it finally opens up the actual app page. Really annoying but glad I'm not the only one that's noticed it.

I wish that was the case, but I can put it side by side my Nexus 4 or Nexus 7, and it's WAY slower than those. It always happens on my G2, so there is something about the play store version or the LG custom software on the device that's causing these delays. I believe it happens in some other apps too. Tapatalk, for instance, seems to delay longer after selecting a forum as well. Very weird.
I have the same problem on all my phones. I think its playstore but sporadic enough so you may think it is only the new phone.

I've had the same thing on both my G2 and my RAZR Maxx. Think it might be the play store.
I've noticed app pages loading slowly on Google Play for the past few/several weeks when I owned a Sprint Galaxy S4 up to getting the LG G2 earlier this week. Now being a new owner of a new phone on a different network, the only constant in the equation is Google Play.

Kitkat impressions?

Hi VZ Moto X folks,
How are you liking Kitkat on the phone? I installed the update on my VZ Moto X this noon and do like the update overall, but I have a few gripes as well.
Likes:
Transparent status bar, white looks good and different as well IMO
New camera allows to adjust focus, exposure (technically this not related to Kitkat I think)
Wallet is working again on VZ with NFC
Lockscreen music album art is very nice! Also works with apps like Pandora and Tunein Radio
New dialer, but no business search
Gripes:
Lost root from 4.2, chances to get it back on 4.4 seem slim. Really hate ads
Some issues with Chrome on 4.4 (lag etc), hopefully will be fixed by an update to Chrome. Chrome never lagged on the Moto X for me on 4.2.
4.4 broke support for battery apps like BetterBatteryStats and Wakelock detector.
Overall, I am really impressed with Motorola and Verizon for giving us this update so soon. But the Moto X was such an awesome phone to start with that I am not totally overawed by the update, I think. What do you guys think about the update?
I'm pretty upset about a really small thing: When I unlock from Active Notifications, there's a tiny delay in which the regular lockscreen appears, and then it unlocks to home/whatever app I had open. That wasn't there before, was it?

I'm happy with the speed of release, but I'm a little disappointed with the crippling of some features. The lack of local search in the dialer and Google Caller ID is very disappointing.
Oh, and this feels like nitpicking. But holy crap:
If you haven't tried yet, switch to ART runtime in the developer options. It speeds up the phone a lot.

Yes, that to me is a actually one of the most important updates because you feel it every time you unlock or every press (if enabled). Much smoother now.
I really don't like the new dialer app. The white/gray looks plain ugly and I don't get what's the obsession with light themes.
Otherwise, I like it all

Yes! The icons are terrible in the status bar. They also used the old Gps icon instead of the new location one.
I like having the option of using art. And will try it for today. But might have to get rid of it until more apps are compatible. Its not horrible but my banking app and PANDORA don't work. The lag is also TERRIBLE when unlocking from active notifications. And disabling slide unlock screen is NOT a fix because the lock screen is how I change my music when listening. Motorola should NOT have skipped the soak test.

Care to share what monumental changes you were expecting? I see a lot of people disappointed by the update, but they don't voice what their expectations were.
You might do well to read the change log: http://developer.android.com/about/versions/kitkat.html. Obviously things like default SMS and translucent nav and status bars won't make it to the Nexus 7, but those weren't really big deal changes anyway. Bigger, useful changes happened under the hood. Lower system requirements and memory management improvements means 4.4 is lighter and leaner. Host Card Emulation means that things like Google Wallet are no longer reliant on a "secure element" in the device. The printing framework means any app can print any type of content using cloud printing, like Google Cloud Print. Immersive mode means nice changes for full screen apps.
Etc., etc. Just go take a look at that change log and come back and say that, "Absolutely nothing changed."
All updates will probably be like this from now on because they have to cater for five year old devices.

Well, except for the loss of the flash plug-in.
I love this update
+ 25% battery life: my previous 7. 5 hours average is now 9-10.
-Another change is the ability to get the translucent bars (with Nova launcher beta)
- I had 2-3 random reboot per week (now it happened only once in the last 3 weeks)
- touchscreen improvement : no more sticky and ghost touch (even if the multi touch issue is still there)
You can argue that it's more bugs fixes and optimization than a big upgrade, it's true. But it's a big improvement for this tablet according to me.

Uh. What? They dropped support for the Galaxy Nexus, which is only 2 years old at this point. Technically they would have supported it still if TI had updated their chipset drivers, but it is still hardly a 5 year old device. They only officially support the Nexus 4 (1 year old) and the Nexus 7 2012 (1 year and a bit old). If manufacturers like Samsung or HTC choose to support legacy devices, that's their thing, not Google. Google provides the source. Samsung, HTC, and Moto are only supporting their more recent lineups too.
Maybe do some research before you start spouting off on the Internet.

Are you for real? All you're essentially complaining about is the fact that there is no visual changes. The reason there aren't many visual changes is because they didn't include the Google Experience Launcher that debuted on the Nexus 5. I would direct you here for some perspective: http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/can-we-all-just-shut-up-about-the-google-experience-launcher/
Also, people, translucent status bars are available on EVERY NEXUS DEVICE EXCEPT THE NEXUS 10 (due to graphics driver issues). The thing is, the app has to specifically request the translucent bar. The reason the translucent bars don't show up on the home screens is because the other Nexus devices don't include the Google Experience Launcher. The GEL requests translucent bars. The legacy launcher does not. If you want translucent status bars on the home screen, sideload the Google Experience Launcher. Done.

My favorite part of this update is the Immersion mode for Reading Ebooks & the new 4.4 default Email App.
I think kitkat is one of the most exciting releases since ice cream sandwich but most changes are indeed under the hood and not officially ready yet, like ART but kitkat is an awesome start for a new future for Android.

I can't comment on the VPN issues, but why is no SMS support on the NEXUS 7 TABLET a reason to dislike the update? It's a tablet. You have a data plan on it, not a talk and text plan. No tablets have SMS support out of the box. There are mods, etc. that you can use to get SMS support.

I don't know about worst, but I wish I hadn't updated. Battery is not a big issue with me as I mainly use it at home where I can keep it charged. The printing option is nice but not something that I can't live without. I haven't noticed any increased speed. I am stock so my issues apply to non power users who just want a first rate tablet without having to mod it, which it was before the update:
1. Browsers doesn't automatically fit text to screen like 4.3 did. I now have to double tap.
2. There is a slight stick/lag in browser when scrolling. Before it was smooth as butter.
3. To prevent major lag/freeze, I've had to cut off location services.
4. Touchscreen is sometimes non responsive, particularly the app drawer button. I use Apex (to hide non used apps) but it doesn't seem to be Apex as it also happens with the stock launcher. The only way to get it working again is by clearing default.
5. Not major but I liked the blue status bar icons in 4.3 better than the white.
6. I liked the 4.3 email app better.
7. Loss of flash. I know flash is obsolete, but there are still many websites that still use it and I liked the option of using my preferred video player as opposed to being forced to HTML5.

I had the opposite effect, sitting "idle" for 4 hours the battery is drained down to %20, google services was @ 74%, re-booting didn't solve it. Sitting idle with 4.3 it last 5 full days; lastly I really, really liked the way the Staus icon would be blue for secured network, and white for unsecured network, showed up/down too and would turn grayish when your connected but not repsonding....and the blue stood out just enough to catch your eye so that you could tell at a glance what is going on. I dumped KitCrap and went back to 4.3

New OTA Moves features are sweet!!

With phones it is all about those small things that make the experience for you ever more enjoyable. Like everyone else not being able to quickly view notifications while your device was sitting on a desk was kind of annoying. While there were apps that tried to mimic this feature it just quite wasn't there.
Well with the new OTA that I promptly side loaded the Pixel is nearing perfect for me. Coming from the S7 Edge makes it even more enjoyable. Why? Because the S7 Edge always on display was kind of useless. Sure you can see the time and a few notifications but it just did not apply to enough apps which made it more annoying.
Anyone just my 2 cents.

Any way we can implement AOD (Always On Display) on OP6T?

So lack of LED is making me kind of delayed in checking notifications, and that feels weird to me. Is there any way we can implement/enable AOD on OP6T? Root/Non-root, either works. I tried the OG mod for 5 and 5t, which works for 6 too, but crashes in 6T for some reason.
Would be into this as well.

In the post, paphonb-oos-mods-v14.zip, instead of the OPsystemUI.apk, BRUSH-IN test is available, lock screen layout is offset, harmless and elegant.

Always on display-Beta from the play store seems to be working. Lots of potential. Still testing.

That'll drain the battery I guess.

Not noticably any more than always on display does.
Meaning, it doesn't effect doze. But it is an app always running, so it will use a marginal amount of more power.
On day 2 it uses more battery than the rest of the apps, but I really don't think it's a problem. I'm getting 6+ hours sot. Display at around 90% brightness. I don't do any 3d, intensive games though. Clash of clans, chrome, Google feed, email, text and calls.
I haven't noticed the lack of the led, since I can just touch the screen and take a quick look at the notifications.
