Is their a way to install aosp browser without root ?
I did a quick search, didn't find anything.

Its an apk...i just installed it and it worked fine.

From a quick search it looks like the only way to install is to push to system/app, which you need root for.

Their has to be a way. It's just a browser.
However I don't know how/what to modify to make it work on stock lol

Give this one a try. I was able to install on my stock rooted phone. It installs as a user app. Post #299.

You are a godsend. That icon was never on my Nexus 4 so I was confused as to what it was.

Anyone know how to disable just the icon but leave the feature on?
