Whats the best rom to use and where can i find instructions for rooting (easiest way)?
I would like for the rom to maintain functions of the galaxy s4 like eye scroll s health...but have less lag and stutter and if possible a faster camera.
Its the international version.

Check out the link in my sig for the best method!
So many kernels so many firmwares so many roms...thats why i seek personal advice.
I gues root could be googled up though even with all the different versions.

ehm...no. Different phone (even if the hardware is similar), so you'd better stay with i9000 roms
you might be able to flash it..but probably it wouldn't even bootup.

There is a nexus rom ported to galaxy s. Search development thread
You can't use a rom developed for nexus directly but with certain tweaks people have made it run for other phones.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but anyways-
This is my first root project!
I want to root my VZW Note 3. However- I don't want to lose the samsung S-Pen software and features (would defeat the point of the s-pen) I would however like to be able to add more apps to the multi-windows panel as well as add the Note 2 s-pen feature of the "shape shortcuts". I also want to get rid of a bunch of samsungs bloatware.
Any ideas an how/where to go about this?
Your choices are limited for the Verizon N3. I just rooted via this thread. Painless. Do read through the thread, though, particularly the OP and the last 3 or 4 pages.

Do lots of reading on the link above. Kingo is a bit of a pain and I had to use an older version to finally get root. If this is your first root then read, read and read some more. Read how other people have bricked, or thought they bricked, their device and the suggestions people offered. Watch videos and follow carefully. I rooted the GN3 in the first hour I owned it and love the rom I am on. You will find the SPen functional in all roms that I have tried. BajaRom is my daily driver but they are all good. Have fun.

If you root you won't lose any features. The only thing root does is give you 100% access to do anything to your device. You can install and uninstall any apps you want.
Mabye you are confusing this with installing a custom ROM? A custom ROM is something someone created to override your particular operating system. Each one has it's own features, and comes with preset applications. Right now all the ROM's for the Note 3 have S-pen features enabled. You won't lose any functionality. There's tons of advantages a ROM will give you over just simply rooting. They often have all bloatware removed and have battery, GPS, or Wi-Fi tweaks.
Also, if your build number ends in MJE, the latest Kingo build (1.2x) is said not to work. One of the few places you may find an older version (1.1.5xxx) that works for mje is here:

Follow the directions in the OP.
Get the latest kingo on their Facebook page. Works for MJE

I see that 1.2.2 came out just a few days ago. And it works for MJE on Verizon Note 3?
If so, what differences exist between 1.1.5.x (or 1.1.6x, both versions previously the latest version that worked with VN3/MJE) and 1.2.2?
Thanks All! Looks like I have a lot to research and learn before I attempt! Will post an update once I have achieved it.

I had to use 1.1.6 as the newer didn't work at all. slam face into wall was more fun.
It's really easy kamikazepyro. It should only take you a few hours of reading to be root ready. Get to it!
Hi All
I have a Note 3 SM-N9005, I live in NZ and it works on the Vodafone NZ network here using my SIM card (don't know if these details are important or not).
Basically I've been having issues with it mainly in regards to sluggishness, especially when dialling, for example if I touch a contact and then touch "call" it will sometimes take up to 30 seconds or so to initiate the dialling.
So I was thinking about going down the root/rom route. I have never ever done this before so I'm a complete noob.
So I'm after a easy to install/use ROM, basically I would love to keep all the S-Pen features, and a few of the Samsung apps (mainly IR Remote (watchon), S-Note, etc). I also currently use Nova Launcher which is awesome for the screen realestate (customizing icons grid, widget sizes, padding etc). I also use the following widgets extensively:
Calendar Month view (I used to use S-Planner month view widget, but that no longer worked with Nova, so found another month view one)
HD Widgets (Weather/Clock)
DashClock (the lock screen widget thing)
Lock Screen Widget
Youtube Widget
System Monitor (a bunch of widgets showing CPU, RAM, Battery, Storage etc)
Onavo Count (showing internet usage)
Would like to keep all these as well.
I don't know if you guys need all this info, but yeah, let me know if you need any more info.
Cheers
OK so you want to keep TouchWiz based ROMs aka Samsung bases. There are plenty in the dev section. It really depends on what you want to customise and do tbh.
Alliance, Crash, civatos ROM, sweetRom etc, there's plenty more too. It's trial and error as to which you prefer/like - I personally used Alliance ROM from the start as soon as it was released, but again it's personal preference.

So all of those keep all the same features of the Note 3? I've noticed a few S5 roms, one even said "the best of S5 but with a s-pen" would these keep the S-Pen features or no?
Do Roms come with their own launchers? Or can I still use Nova?
Also is there a rooting/rom installing guide here on the forums somewhere for the Note 3?

Not 100% sure about the S5 ROMS. yeah they all have launchers but you can install NOVA and use as normal. In regards to root, if you have a custom recovery you can just flash SuperSU.zip but most custom ROMs are pre-rooted already.

Haha you've lost me already, I was under the impression I need to root my phone to install a custom ROM? I have no idea what custom recovery is for example. Need to find some guides on this I think.
Good cause I paid for Nova and quite like it.
Ah OK so you have a bit of reading to do.
I'll briefly sum it up for you.
Using ODIN, flash a recovery image aka TWRP. (make sure you have the right version) you don't need root to flash a custom recovery. Then you can download a ROM to your device and flash it.
But first, go to the general section in this forum of the Note 3, read the stickies regarding root, custom recovery and what events can and do indeed happen and most importantly if you make a boo-boo how to fix it.
Reading is the best advice I can give you, in fact its the best advice you'll receive from anyone in this forum.
Spend a few days, if not longer familiarising yourself with how the whole root/custom recovery process works and then IF you feel confident, go ahead and try it. Or simply post and ask for advice/help.

Hello,
I don't really like TouchWiz and its many useless apps that slow down the system.
I prefer the Vanilla Andoid feeling, so I would like to use CyanogenMod.
But I have one big problem; there are some features that are using the Samsung Framework which I would like to keep on using. The most important app is the Samsung Camera, because it includes a slow motion video function. It would be wasteful to own a Galaxy S5 and not use that function. Same for the finger print scanner. I don't really use it, but when I want to use it, I want to be able to do so, since I have a Samsung Galaxy S5.
Has anyone got an idea for a solution for this problem? Thank you!
- Samuel K.
It's not possible. Or should I say its too difficult to port the camera. One of the things you sadly need to give up going to CM.

Hi everyone,
I found my old galaxy tab A6. I would like to use it to read and scroll reddit mainly. I find it a bit slow, I'd like to be able to get rid of the samsung apps and speed it up overall. What ROM do you recommend?
I saw this post, any opinions?
