4g - EVO 4G General

Recently visited Tampa, Florida & had 4G service on my old OG EVO. I was getting speeds of 12MB/sec lol (thats faster than my home cable modem connection) Here at home in Louisiana the only places with 4g are the heavy business areas in the city of New Orleans but the speeds are nowhere near 10mb, more like 2-3mb. Would be awesome if 4g was available everywhere but now with LTE coming on the market it wont be around. Dunno when sprint will actually even have LTE 4g up and running all over...

4G Coverage - San Francisco Bay Area

I live and work in SF and I've yet to see my Evo kick into 4G.
What buildings, intersections, etc have you seen 4G coverage?
4G has not been launched in San Francisco. Go to Sprint.com/4G. We will be getting it before the end of the year.

There are spots of 4g, but the only area I know for a fact is in the south bay...
http://developer.clear.com/innovation
You can see an overview map there, and if you click the city names lower, you get a much higher quality map. I latched onto a 4G network while driving but... was driving so I couldn't test it.
South Bay, Santa Clara, some of SJC down town.
Just pockets of 4g. i guess they are building it these days.
4g in Fremont
I get 4g coverage here in Fremont. Weak (1 bar) signal, but consistent. 7.81 down/.65 up speeds according to speetest.net

4g is working in nyc

Since today my evo is picking up 4g in nyc. Sometimes all bars sometimes only one. Excited now I can talk and browse at the sametime.

I don't see 4G coverage for NY yet at:

Have you run speedtests?
Still not getting any 4G in East Elmhurst/ Jackson Heights area
No 4G in Brooklyn
I was in Manhattan this eve and it was working when I posted this thread. I am in east elmhurst now and its not working I had 3 bars on queens boro bridge. I'll try again today when I goto Manhattan.
I think they had it on at night for testing purpose. YouTube was loading in a snap.
nothing at 38th and 5th in manhattan
Nothing at Exchange Place in Jersey City (same towers as downtown Manhattan).
Nothing here
No 4g on 12th and broadway.
Here is the proof. Today!

If you want to know when 4g will be in your area just check with Clear Wireless. Their high speed wireless is bought from sprint wimax according to the Sprint near me in Philadelphia.
How come no one else is picking it up just confirmed it works on queens blvd until bqe.

4G throughout LA?

Today my friend texted me telling me we had 4G service, I was at another friend's house a few blocks from mine and turned it on to find 4G signal. Very weak, and it didn't run particularly well, but it was there. Then I went to pick up another friend who lives at a greater elevation, and for a little while I picked up 2 bars and tried loading the eiffel tower site and it loaded insanely fast, much faster then when I'm on 3G. Now I'm back home, and unfortunately can't pick up 4G. I live in Burbank, CA. Wondering if it rolled out all throughout LA? Anyone else picking up anything in the area?
I don't live in LA, I live in OC, but I've been up to LA a couple times and I have turned on my 4G radio and have got 1-2 bars of 4G signal. I didn't test it out too extensively though.
There is limited WiMax services in downtown area. I had a mapped out Google Map somewhere.
Anyway it works good when you are elevated and in downtown. Speed is nice as noted by OP.
Let's hope they extend the coverage soon.

4g is working in parts of WLA and Downtown.
Check out Map Viewer in the market and you can filter the map by 4g (and by any other carrier). It will give you an idea of where you can turn on 4g if you need the higher speeds.
4G also works in Santa Monica
so ive gotten 4g on temple and grand, on the 5 south going through downtown la, and through hollywood, also i got it going on the 5 north near norwalk, but its really sensitive like ill have a couple bars then nothing it seems more "specific" than 3g which i think would more gradually go out
There is testing going on all over LA. I have gotten it in Cypress, Hollywood, LA, Anaheim etc.
But it cuts in and out very frequently. Towers are in place, but not deployed yet.

4G in Denver, I am wondering will it be soon when sprint turns it on?

Driving home from work tonight, I-76 in Denver between I-70 and 88th ave exit(this is where I got off the interstate, so the network could have went further east) I was getting 4G network connection that whole stretch of the interstate. Once I got off the interstate I lost it pretty quickly, but there was not a 4G network (as far as I know) last week in this area, so I am not sure if this means it will be soon that Denver is finally getting their 4G network. I sure hope so, since it seems like we are one of the last cities to be getting our 4G network.
I have been noticing more 4g spots in denver too, I'm thinking its clearwire rather than sprint

4g area is growing, I work in Englewood and have 4g in my office now. I left it on and had 4g on Santa Fe all the way south from Alameda to Arapaho Comm. College. Mapped it using Sensorly (Market Application for tracking and showing 4g availabilty).
I've heard there are locations downtown and in the Tech Center already. The sprint reps I've talked to in the last couple weeks said full-blown 4g by end of year.
I've connected to 4g this morning, dead slow. 3g is kicking its butt. Of course Sprint is still in the "Test Mode" so I'm sure it will be up and down until they say it is LIVE. Oh well, still nice when it works.
I get 4G in lodo/16 street mall

4g in New York.

Why is it that sprint over the years has only put 4g in PARTS of new york. New York is a pretty big state and has many parts. im located on Long Island and theres no 4g at all. so far the only 4g iv seen in new york are very small parts in the city.
Give it some time...my cuzin lives in LI and he has no 4g also...but manhattan is the best for 4g reception everywhere else is kinda shifty with 4g service for now anyway.
I'd love some 4g in Nassau county please!

I can report..
Theres definitely 4G in the Financial District, Midtown West, and a couple of parts of the Bronx. I actually get 4G in my new apartment which was great when I didn't have cable internet yet. I was able to play COD: Black Ops over tether!

yeah thats where i live also, nassau county. The funny thing is, the company i work for OWNS the legal rights for 4g in nassau county. So if phone companies want to put 4g anywhere on nassau county they have to lease the rights for it from my company.

I get good 4G in the large majority of Midtown only... Everywhere else it's either on and off always or just slow as turd.
(This was about 2 weeks ago when I took a break from CM to run Calkulin's, so I don't know if his ROM is a factor or not and I've since gone back to CM so my results are a bit inconclusive.)
Getting 4g right now in LIC.

Im in manhattan and service is sweet.

I'm in midtown and 4G is horrible anywhere indoors in Manhattan due to the 2.5Ghz frequency and tall buildings.
That made my decision to switch to CM7 (no 4G support) about 100 times easier. I just don't care until they get it together.
I live in Brooklyn and i get full 4G everytime I'm outside... inside i mostly get 1 or 2 bars
Westchester cty
I live/work between Yonkers and White Plains, and my phone rarely drops back to 3g. I've been tethering at a steady 5-6 Mb/s.

Basterds!!!! I'm 40 mins west of albany, I'm expecting 4g in the fall of 2192.
