Today my friend texted me telling me we had 4G service, I was at another friend's house a few blocks from mine and turned it on to find 4G signal. Very weak, and it didn't run particularly well, but it was there. Then I went to pick up another friend who lives at a greater elevation, and for a little while I picked up 2 bars and tried loading the eiffel tower site and it loaded insanely fast, much faster then when I'm on 3G. Now I'm back home, and unfortunately can't pick up 4G. I live in Burbank, CA. Wondering if it rolled out all throughout LA? Anyone else picking up anything in the area?
I don't live in LA, I live in OC, but I've been up to LA a couple times and I have turned on my 4G radio and have got 1-2 bars of 4G signal. I didn't test it out too extensively though.
There is limited WiMax services in downtown area. I had a mapped out Google Map somewhere.
Anyway it works good when you are elevated and in downtown. Speed is nice as noted by OP.
Let's hope they extend the coverage soon.

4g is working in parts of WLA and Downtown.
Check out Map Viewer in the market and you can filter the map by 4g (and by any other carrier). It will give you an idea of where you can turn on 4g if you need the higher speeds.
4G also works in Santa Monica
so ive gotten 4g on temple and grand, on the 5 south going through downtown la, and through hollywood, also i got it going on the 5 north near norwalk, but its really sensitive like ill have a couple bars then nothing it seems more "specific" than 3g which i think would more gradually go out
There is testing going on all over LA. I have gotten it in Cypress, Hollywood, LA, Anaheim etc.
But it cuts in and out very frequently. Towers are in place, but not deployed yet.

Hi,
I'd love to see 4G work on my phone once, just for kicks, but I live in NJ. Am I correct to assume there is NO WHERE in NJ that has 4G coverage? Just Philadelphia, PA?
I hope in the coming year they open up coverage for at least the Northeastern Corridor (busiest daily train route in the world), because I live right along it.

I checked Clear's coverage map, and it seems Trenton is covered. I haven't tested myself to find out.
http://www.clear.com/coverage
edit: or rather parts of it
thanks, i didn't know about that map. i go to lawrenceville from time to time, so hopefully that area will get 4G coverage soon. i'm shocked that places like Bristol and Levittown are already well covered.
I'm in Voorhees right now and have had 4G come up here and there though we are covered on the map. In Pennsauken (just a few miles out of Philly) I had 4g pretty strong outside but once I went in the house, it was gone.
Hopefully it will get stronger soon...
i get it in lawnside, somerdale, magnolia, mapleshade ect.. spotty but pretty good at times.
in maple shade for sure i have 4g, but i dont keep it on cuz of the battery drain...
yea I was just looking at my phone and i notice something activate on my phone and it was my 4G I really have to try this out

saw 4G in Germantown and Gaithersburg
I was in DC last week and had 4g coverage (it was spotty). The best coverage was at Nationals Park.

I get 4G outside my job in Greenbelt. Don't have anything at home in Clinton though.
Yea I think they just testing it out
I have actually picked up full 4g signal all around the beltway. Gaithersburg, Rockville, Bethesda, Laurel, College Park, Bowie, NW Washington. Randallstown, Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
Since I got my phone June 4th I have had 4G in Loudoun County (Northern VA) about 30mins outside of DC (next to Dulles Airport).
I am now getting 4G in some parts of McLean, Tysons Corner and Arlington. Haven't seen amazing speeds yet (around 2000kbps compared to a max of 1500kbps or so that I've managed to get under 3G).
Did they turn something on though? I previously wasn't able to get 4G at all in some of these areas.
I was able to connect to 4G in Greenbelt (close to the Sprint store) but it was spotty. Also was connected driving on University Blvd by Langley Park. Noticed 4G coverage in Bethesda as well, but couldn't connect or stay connected long enough to actually use it.
I just got my first 4G signal in Falls Church, in my back yard no less. Signal quality: poor, several 404s on sites that should have been there, but no time for extensive testing right now.
I also get 3 bars in Severn area, Hanover\odenton 1-2 bars

I'm in LoCo too (about 15 minutes from Dulles) and have no 4G coverage
congrats to u guys when u get 4G! let me know how it is!
Got full signal in arlington.
3 bar @ gaithersburg. 3.5mb/s down and 1mb/s up.
No 4G in North Bethesda, no 4G downtown, no 4G in Metro.
So today I was trying to kill my battery after wiping all data to rebuild the battery stats and randomly turned on 4G to help kill the battery, but found that it connected to Clearwire, rather than Sprint. Now I will have to drive around and try and locate the broadcast point.
I live in Wolcott, CT and small town in New Haven County that boarders Hartford County, next to Waterbury. This was a fluke that I turned on 4G but was surprised to see that it connected.
My speeds are crap but have gotten it up to 6mbps down, nothing better than 3G upload speeds though ~0.33mbps up.
Here are some pictures to show.
I live in stamford, no luck with 4g here.

i see your 4g bars, dont seem to much!
Sprint and Clearwire
I thought Sprint used Clearwire's WiMax network. (i.e. Sprint 4G is really a rebranded Clearwire WiMax) Not to mention Sprint owns the majority interest in Clearwire.
In Orange County California I came across a small pocket of 4G coverage. The weak signal only allowed about 1.65 Mbs down and 0.48 up which is far below the 4G spec but better than the usual 3G (altho also below the 3G spec).

Clearwire is Sprint's 4G provider. I have just never seen Clearwire listed as the ISP while in labeled 4G areas thats all...
What I find funny is Clearwire does not list any active broadcast location in CT, so I wonder why I am picking anything up...
A quick google finds that Clearwire is hiring in the Hartford, CT area. Everyone from customer support to RF Engineers. Perhaps you were close to their Hartford location.
last time I was in hartford (at the club lol) I got like 3-4 bars of 4G, it was AWESOME! That's the only place I've ever had 4g, since I live in the springfield area (I wouldn't give my city, that's just stupid. Even though I use my real name as my username and you could easily find me via google. lol)
anyways I was getting like 8mbps down and 2-3mbps up
That's pretty cool and all, but do you really want to post a map to your home on the internet?

Hartford is about 20-25 miles away from Wolcott, but I have noticed that they were hiring here.

I'm really not that worried, user name is my real name, and if you or anyone else really feels the need to come visit me have at it... Nothing a quick search on the internet wouldn't pull up anyways.
Im in manchester, I tracked down the tower...right in back of the sprint store...got nearly 12mbit on mobile speed test...at my house 1.5 miles away I couldn't even get a signal. I think its in low-power test mode. The signal drops like a rock as you drive away...what's wimax range? I thought it was many many miles, 20 to 30 if you still had a good line of sight....?

I will track down the broadcast point. There are a couple large cell towers in my area that I will start with.
I found the broadcast point, it was were I thought it would be, top of route 69. Was getting almost 11mbps down and around 1.5mbps up. Kind of weird that there is 4G in this area now.
I had 1 bar in new haven not to long ago and got a little over 4 mbps down and about 1 mbps up.
4G Waterbury CT
Hello everyone. Found this post searching around and figured I would join this great forum.
I found out earlier today that 4g service was started up in Waterbury. I saw that the OP is in wolcott. Flip on ur 4G and give it a minute to set up.
With speedtest.net Im getting an average of 9.25 down and 1.75 up.
The internet flies on this phone at those speeds. Web pages load in a second or so compared to 10 secs on 3g.
Finally we get our 10 bucks out of the deal, lol.
4g is all over newhaven and hartford
It's also available in stamford, ct - there is a tower on the TOP of the new Trump building.
Just google "4g stamford" or "4g your town here"
download the sensorly app on your phone and you can see real time reports of it down to road level.
You have to zoom in on this link before it gets accurate
http://www.sensorly.com/Map/4G/USA/Sprint/wimax-sp
nobody tried sensorly?
That sensorly map seems to be inaccurate for me at my current location, it says I should have 4g coverage but I do not. Back at home in seattle though I do have 4g almost everywhere so I am used to having it.
Edit: I stand corrected by the fact that if you download the app and zoom in really close (better then you can on the website) it shows I do not have coverage.

I get 4G throughout E.Hartford and Manchester. None in Glastonbury though. I get 5-8 Down in E.Ha.
There are pockets of 4g in Rocky Hill & Newington. Conveniently, the Newington Sprint Store has 4g coverage ;-)
Hey, guys
I'm switching to either Evo or Epic in October, and I'd like to know beforehand how 4G reception is working for you in any Orlando area (I do know for a fact there's already 4G in Orlando, if you aren't informed). I'm also writing a review for a website and need some feedback on said topic. Thanks!
Yes it is, It has been working since Aug 1st.. no problems.. and it works outside great.. but indoors sucks
I'm getting about 3Mbps down, 1Mbps up at my apartment (on Millenia), which is double the download rate of 3g that I get here. Haven't really checked it elsewhere though...I hardly use it, as when I'm home I just use Wifi
3 down 1 up is usually what I achieve over in Waterford Lakes/Avalon Park.
Sent from my Evo 4G using Tapatalk
The two areas I got it were at the corner of Herndon Ave and East Colonial Dr (there was a Sprint store there, so I assume thats where the 4G signal was coming from) but I was averaging around 2-4mbps down, 1.07 up, the other area was in my city of Winter Park, which surprisingly the signal has been penetrating inside my house rather well and I've been getting around 7-9mbps down, 1.9 up.
It seems up and down most of Alafaya is all covered. I travel over in the UCF area, Waterford area, Oviedo, and Winter Springs and all seem pretty well covered. Map-Wise I drew a rough sketch of the area I have used. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=102798843898597385172.00048f7b3b6a161f47cff
I would say 3-4m is a general average. As said before buildings suck for the most part. I have gotten it inside a few buildings at UCF. If you are outside and in covered areas then you should be good.

I live Downtown Lake Davis area and I'm starting to see it around here now. Very faint inside my house, much better outdoors. Very exciting though!
Avalon seems to be the limit for the east side of Orlando as I live in Wedgefield and I watch it every day drop off as soon as I pass the Avalon light on 50 but in town the usual is around 4-5mbps down .5mbps up.
i think the downtown area has had it for a while, but finally i can get a (very low signal) right here inside my home (hickory hill area). There must be a second clearwire tower somewhere around here. The speed of course sucks, i got this speed when 3g was released 4-5 years ago. :\
myns rls 5 with PRI 1.90_003, PRL 01115, RADIO 2.15.00.11.19
i plan on trying the new leaked radio/rom to see if signal gets better, but i doubt it. is it worth the try??
Are you sure about this? I live downtown and I can't get a signal. Sprint doesn't list Memphis as covered. I know Clearwire covers here, but they don't sell plans here yet.
I hope so I will be back there in two weeks for the bbq contest

update: i found the 4G tower.. its being broadcasted from my local sprint tower a couple blocks away.
heres screenshots of the max speeds i was getting at full/semi full bars
the location of the tower is at knight arnold and perkins, on top of the teachers credit union building.

Go by Clear.com coverage map, Sprint only shows official cities and even then they rarely update it. Wimax is open, so wherever Clear shows coverage you can use it.
You're right. I get a very, very weak 4g signal in a few parts of downtown. It isn't consistent enough to use reliably and I don't get it at all in my condo.
