Did you try this, it must work (use root explorer)
open file "factorymode" in efs/factoryApp directory, it probabely says "off", change to "on" (yes "on" is the correct setting to turn it off), then save
reboot

Its already "on"
Yes finally I'm deleting factorymode_fb.apk from /system/app and it works normally again
But still, everytime I reboot/turning off and on the device, the message "factory mode is on!!!" still popping out, but yeah everything still worked fine, just annoying message everytime I'm rebooting the device. Quite strange tho.

Did you manage to fix this problem?
I had the same thing happen to my i9500 after reloading stock firmware. I had a backup of the EFS folder and after restoring it I still got pop ups from the factory test.
I checked the factoryapp file and it was already set to on. I changed permissions on the file using root browser (basically selected all the check boxes), rebooted and factory test stopped coming up and my lock screen and reboot screen was back
If you already fixed the problem ignore post LOL

Such kind of solution better to be placed on warez site, from where ppl getting it
XDA should not be choice to host such unsolicited advise.
anyway it is promoting warez..
Thread Cleaned
Do not discuss warez. I dont care what personal feelings are over it, its against the rules, full stop. Using the excuse i just want to try it first is a poor one, use your brain and use the user reviews to make a informed decision.

I assume you are running a "custom" recovery (clockwork)? This is why it failed. Only way to install will be to flash back to stock recovery as someone above mentioned. Probably not even worth the trouble.

Yep. I think I will restore the stock recovery since I won't be doing any kernel/rom flashing for a while. Stock rom is very stable.

If you want to force the update you can go into settings apps all and force stop "Google Services Framework" then clear the data on it. Exit settings then go back in and system update and its there

How to Disable Capacitive buttons on CM10 or AOSP based roms!

Just check out sth on XDA and with some trial and error I got it working right.(thanks cyberanarchy)
Do a nandroid backup in case of failure! This is only if u have softkeys which u can enable with the softkey enabler from the playstore on any AOSP rom.
Just use any root explorer app.Go to system/lib/hw and here find the "lights.find5.so" file and rename it to whatever u want in my case i did "lights.find5.so.zip".That will disable the capacitive button lights upon reboot.
For the buttons themselves head to system/usr/key layout/synaptic.....(has the name synaptic in it and it's the only one).Copy this to ur computer for backup purposes if u didn't do the nandroid already. Now open it as a text file and delete everything inside.Save and reboot.
Hit Thanks if u .....u know.....

Does anyone have a working solution for AOKP 4.3? When I rename the lights.so file, it also breaks a lot of other things. For example, when I send my phone to stand-by, the screen doesnt turn off but remains backlit.

Can't change lockscreen security 4.4.2

Ohayo~
I've seen this asked countless times but everyone seems to resolve this by supposedly unencrypting their device. I can't change my lock screen at all. I have only the option to choose PIN or Password (The others are greyed out). Even if I set a password/PIN it goes to the default swipe unlock.
My device is not encrypted at all so it's not that.
I'm wondering if it is the progression of ROMs I've used. I went from stock TW 4.3 -> CM11 -> TW 4.4.2 (BTU) -> TW 4.4 2 (NZC)
Can anyone help me with solving this issue? I'm using an app at the moment but I'd prefer to use the actual Lockscreen.
I attached a screen shot of what I can see.
Thanks in advance
Sephi~

Are you on stock firmware now and is your phone rooted ? You can enable this feature by editing the build.prop open rootexplorer > System > build.prop and look for security.mdpp=None and change it to #security.mdpp=none then save and reboot.. or either flash a different kernel like talex ,adam kernel ,kt kernel n etc. And that should fix this issue.

Try this one , make a back up of your build.prop somewhere then edit the original one and instead putting a # on security.mdpp=none , Just Delete/remove the security.mdpp=none and then save . now once your done open RootExplorer> System > and check if there's called build.pro.bak in there . Delete it and reboot your phone.

They did but not for the SM-S920L. There is still no rom including stock for this phone.
I'm not sure what that rom is. It was posted in the dev forum and op offered almost no details. All I know is that the file name is SM-S920L3.tar and it weighs in at 1.4GB.

In that case they must have put it up just recently. Things are starting to look up for us after all.
Maybe, I'm not going to be the guinea pig here and risk my phone on some unknown rom without a custom recovery available to backup and restore my phone should something go wrong.

Thanks, man! I'm having a few issues that I can live with with my phone, but if this works ok, I might just flash it. Oh, and I spoke with a few Straight Talk CS reps and they say that neither Tracfon, nor Samsung are going to release a stock ROM for 5.0.2. Perhaps some day we'll get an update to 5.1.1.
Ok so I it flashed in about 3 minutes for me with a pass. I noticed a set bit warranty: cache and system. I pulled the battery and then powered back on and got this:
