Ok guys, so i was very disappointed with the android keyboard. Its a great keyboard but something about it and the nexus just didn't work well in landscape mode. So i was browsing around the forums and i found a port, i decided to try it out. Now, its a simple apk file that doesnt replace the original one. To me it seems a bit better, i think the keys are a bit wider but then it might just be me. I wanted to post it here and have some of you guys try it out and tell me if there is a difference or if i just think its different. Tell me your guy's feedback, thanks.

I'm giving it a try, I'll let you know in a few days how I like it.
Just installed this... I do believe the keys are a bit bigger in this version, but it's very subtle.

It is a bit taller and very subtle but i think thats what i was really looking for, something a bit taller. In landscape the space is easier to push and the rest of the key aren't bad. I have to say i am quite happy with this one.

The other slight difference I can tell is that the keys are slightly rounded as opposed to the squared off keys on stock.
Works for me - seems to produce fewer errors than the stock keyboard - thanks!

Agreed. Its quite nice. I've had a lot fewer errors (auto-corrected or not) than on the stock keyboard. Nice post OP!
Giving it a shot and seems to be better so far.
As a huge critic of the stock keyboard, I'm very excited to try this. Installing now. Will drop feedback after a day or two of use.
Initial impressions:
-Yes, the keys are definitely higher, slightly so. This should make it feel less cramped. I can tell already the extra room makes it easier to type.
-I still wish we can long press respective letter keys to get to their alternative symbols as oppose to only being able to long press the period key to find commons symbols.
-This will take more time to test, but it seems it's harder to recreate the double-letter hit issue which I criticize the keyboard heavily about. If this turns out to be true... hurray! Kenvan, have you noticed the double-letter issue popping up less? EDIT: Nevermind, it's rearing its ugly head again, but my early impression seems to show it happening less, which is a good start.
OP, where did you find this alternative? Thanks for sharing. I can tell it's better than stock just for the shear extra room. I ask because I'm wondering if the creator did anything else software-wise to make it better, if you all are reporting it's less prone to errors. I'd be curious to know what he did.
nvm need more research.

Hmmm...that's odd. Per the first post of that thread, this is just a port of the Gingerbread keyboard that was originally made for earlier versions of Android.
So this is our stock keyboard with what modifications. The changelog in that post doesn't suggest anything special about it in terms of making it better on our Nexus S than the stock.

Yes, i was a bit hesitant to try this because i figured it was just our keyboard ported over but its different from our keyboard. Its a very slight difference, but a difference indeed. The keys are slightly longer and that just seems to make things a bit easier, for me and so far for the few who have attempted the keyboard. I took a screen shot of both stock and this ported stock, i guess you can call it, and you can see the slight difference.
Plus, i was just wandering around and i found this thread and thought "what the heck, let see it," it was never originally meant to go onto the nexus s but it seems better than what came with nexus s.
This keyboard rocks. Thank you!

After a typing all day with this version of the stock keyboard, I am noticing it produces the same issues/errors as the regular stock version. I'm still noticing the double-letter hits with the first words of letters and/or the last words of letters ("eexample" or "examplee"); I'm also still noticing missed presses ("exmple"), but on the plus side: I am noticing far less missed space bar presses. Another issue that still occurs is the system missing auto corrections that it would normally get. For example, typing "tgan" usually automatically corrects to "than" but sometimes it misses it, and I see "tgan" throughout my emails. Very frustrating.
I predict the reason most people are reporting less errors using this version versus the reg. version is because of the higher keys. This alone makes this version better than the reg. version. But in terms of software, it's more or less the same, and the same problems creep up.
In the end, I'm going to return to Better Keyboard 8. Although it has the same issues (double-letters, etc.), at least it's features are more robust. Quick "?" key, or long-press for all letters alone makes it far easier to type on. Key height adjustment allows you to pick what's perfect for you too, and etc.
Honestly, it's disappointing and straight up baffled why Google themselves don't just implement all or some of these features to their keyboard. Sorely missing from both the stock keyboard and BK8 are custom auto-corrections, a feature Smart Keyboard Pro implements flawlessly. It's just a shame SKP has its own slew of issues with Gingerbread (it misses space bar and letters like crazy); oddly, none of these issues happen using SKP on my Vibrant. I don't know why.
In any case, thanks again for sharing, OP.
Come on then, we've had our notes for a little time now. Here is the place to vent any of your frustrations with it. Weather that be the screen, camera, launcher or anything else you can think of.

I've had my Note for just under a month now and my only disappointment is that it's now selling for £450 and I bought it for £550!!!! LOL!
Ok, aside from that the only real issue I have is the auto-brightness screen bug/issue. Other than that I would say that the phone is perfect and is more than everything that I would have dreamed of. All I need now is ICS and, potentially with that, a bug fix to solve the screen issues.
I still can't find the 'shrink to fit in my pocket' button.

+1 for ICS but the only real negative is that it's ruined smaller form factors for me. Seriously, I played with a Galaxy Nexus and was so dissapointed due to it's relatively "small" screen. I had a Nexus S prior to the Note and probably would have really appreciated a 4.65 inch screen, but not anymore.

Great phone.
Had it for about 3 weeks,
After MW, Symbian and Maemo I wanted Android.
And like I said, its a great phone.
But, i did send it back for repair.
In that 3 weeks i wasn't able to talk to anyone in a normal way.....
And I think thats the first thing U want to do with a phone
Only disappointment for me is the lack of 5x?? widgets out there at the moment, making my screen look untidy!! Is ICS going to fix this?
Camera is s**t hot, screen is amazing and the size is perfect for my needs. Music sounds as good as my HTC desire did. Can't think of any bad points at the moment!!
If you want 5x widget you should use launcher pro or ADW ex as launchers, hell you go resize widgets to 10x10 if you want lol.
Have a look here at how it looks with a 7x5 grid on LP (portrait) or landscape (ADW) https://picasaweb.google.com/114505993397088135290/GalaxyNotr
Bluetooth audio quality is terrible as it is with all the galaxy phones. I can see a lot of people not noticing it, because I don't think that many people use bluetooth audio much, but it annoys me to no end since I listen to BT headphones all day at work, and all my cars have BT headunits, basically I rely on bluetooth completely for listening to my music. I've looked around and apparently the only real solution is a rom with its own bluetooth stack... such as Cyanogen.... I really hope someone is close to finishing a good cyanogen build.

It is absolutely mind boggling to me how there could be this issue. It's like I'm having deja-vu with my Nexus One. The auto-brightness on that phone simply did not work. The auto brightness cycled up and down repeatedly for no reason, with no outside change in light.
Various mods were done to try to fix it but nothing ever really fixed it. It was always too bright for indoor and too dim for outdoor and changed brightness levels randomly for no reason.
So now I have a feeling that I soon will have another phone in which I simply can't use a feature because it simply doesn't work properly. Why? Is it Android OS? Do any Android phones have this feature where it actually works? Why do they release phones with a feature that doesnt work???

I'd concur w/ ICS..I'm sure a ROM will be up soon, but to be honest.. I really like the S-Pen functionality and can wait patiently for an official Sammy upgrade as I know all the Galaxy phones are a priority.
Some minor things:
1) I find the power button too easy to press, since it's opposite the volume controls.
2) I find the capacitive buttons WAY too sensitive. I wish they were real buttons.
3) I don't use it much, but max volume on the speaker isn't loud enough.
4) I do miss one handed use a bit.
I think that's it, to be honest. I'm very very happy with it.

My biggist issue with any new device.
1.The witch hunt for issues.
Biggist issues with the note.
1. Most people who purchase will have girly hands
2. Takes me 1/10 of a sec to change the brightness on my last 3 samsung devices. This is probably the result of my bigger hands though.
3. Cant control who buys the device.
My real issue.
1. I dont expect much development for this phone.
This is SUCH A GREAT DEVICE!
Coming from a Dell Streak, the size wasnt a surprise for me... But the speed has been a pleasant surprise. General navigation and browsing is awesome.
The camera is a step up for me.
The "feel in my hand" is great. Its light, but solid. Doesnt feel like it needs a case to survive.
Complaints? I see a little hitch/lag every once in a while; Samsung needs to clean up. The screen is gorgous but it has some oscillation in color when scrolling or idle particularly noticable on white pages.
Gawd I love this device!

Lots of love for the gnote but I do have a small complaint. It's too thin; I have a hard time felling it vibrate for notifications. I hope my case (when it arrives) will help solve this.
I never would have thought that this would be an issue with a device so large.

I have both the Note and the Galaxy Nexus and I love the new ics but found it to be a bit cramped on the Nexus. Trust me...when the note gets ics you will be in heaven. Ics screams for a big screen.

I have been using the Atrix for a few months. Last week, I have accessed to a Samsung Galaxy S2 and have played a few games with it. The touch screen on the S2 is very accurate and precise. In comparison, the Atrix touch screen is inaccurate and sluggish, especially if you're touching more than 1 point. This has nothing to do with the 10 seconds timeout that Motorola implemented. It's just the responseness on the touchscreen.
Tell me if i'm wrong, but don't we already have a MOD for that called "Touchscreen MOD (8 points)"
I saw it in the Dev thread under various roms like Darkside and WetDream.
Try it out and see if it helps

So people, has anyone here been using is TF as a drawing tablet? I basically got mine thinking it would do a decent job replacing my graphic tablet when I'mnot at home, and I must say that with Photoshop Touch and the adonit Jot, it's been really great.

Okay, so here we go :
Yeah, from what I've gathered you can't change brush shape, only size, opacity, flow and hardness, but you can enable pressure sensitivity, yet it just random jitters with the jot, sure the jot 2 will enable this option fully, ICS already has pressure sensitivity via Bluetooth function built in IIRC.
But you get warp and filter masks etc so i use these functions to address the missing brush options.
Speaking of pen pressure... Did anyone try the stylus from the HTC Flyer or the Samsung Galaxy note with our TF ? PS Touch and SBPro claim they use the pressure ; can we get it with these ?

Unfortunately, I don't think so. With those pens, AFAIK, they require special hardware in the screen similar to a Wacom screen.

Well, given that theses styli are battery powered, I figured they would analyse the pressure themselves and send the, information to the device... after all that's the way my lowgrade Aiptek tablet works.

Just to let you know I purchased Sketchbook Pro : wanted to see if it could be easier than Photoshop Touch to use. Well, I find the UI really intuitive, and it has freaking brushes ! Yay.
The con is that the number of layers is limited - 7 or 8, not sure. I only know I've found myself merging layers 'cause I needed a new one and had reached the app's limit.
Anyway, here's what I did this evening : took me about one hour, and I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Nice man, I wish I had this kind of talent.
Just got sketchbook pro. Takes alot of getting used to but I like it so far! I am using a regular pen for tablets. This sketch took a while because I had to figure what everything does lol. Anyone got tips on using sketchbook pro?
Yay, like it - a lot! As you might already have guessed, you'll find the Transformer works best with sketching: getting a clean line can be a pain the ass, but eventually, everything seems to be possible.
As for tips, I'm afraid I don't have any. I know I have spent a fair amount of time learning to edit my brushes (you can change opacity, smoothness, spacing, hardness/smoothness... almost everything, for both the extremities and the middle of a line) only to find my settings didn't stick when I would close the app... but hey, with a bit of practice, it's pretty fast to set up again. If you ever used Photoshop or the Gimp, you'll find a lot of similarities.
So I just bought a nexus 10 and among the many reasons for getting one, I want to take notes with it. I've bought myself a nice stylus that works wonderfully on iPads and my galaxy nexus phone. However, writing with the same stylus and exact same apps on my nexus 10 isn't working as one would hope. It seems to lag quite badly in picking up where my stylus is and this forces me to write very slowly so that it will pick up all of my strokes, thus making it pretty much useless in a classroom setting, but, like I said before, I don't see this at all with my galaxy nexus.
So, why am I seeing such a huge difference in performance between these two devices when (I assume) the nexus 10 would be so much more powerful than my phone? Is it the apps or the hardware? And how do I fix this issue without just writing my own note taking app?
I faced no problems working on freenote/ handwriting or myscript calculator ?? I might loook at the stylus and not the N10

But I've seen this issue regardless of the stylus used... Even with my finger I see a lag.
I also tried free note on my phone and tablet and am seeing a lag only on the nexus 10. I seriously doubt that it's the stylus, it seems to be isolated to my device...though, I haven't tried this with any other nexus 10 device. I don't know anyone else who has one.

I have found some ROMs to have far more input lag than others, so that is why I am wondering.

Well stock should be ok. I see the most input lag with custom roms that do a lot to the framework and launcher, such as Paranoid Android.

Just tried this with both lecture notes and free note (free note had less lag of the two from what I could tell)... It did improve the lag quite a bit, but I'm still seeing a noticeable and significant enough (in my opinion) lag. Seems that one step has been taken... Anybody got any others?
Also, I tried using Seeder but saw no significant difference on my device.
FYI, I'm now rooted but still using stock ROM/kernel.

I'm still having this problem on stock 4.2.2 (as well as the latest CM nightly), and was wondering if anyone had any fixes. My Jot Classic works okay, but not well enough for any serious note-taking, and considerably slower than the same app/stylus on my nexus 4 and 7. My main issue is that it isn't sensitive enough to write small exponents and subscripts.

Today, I finally got my Nexus 10 and I started to investigate this ominous delay or lag. I indeed observe this lag on my Nexus 10 in LectureNotes and all other handwriting apps that I tested. As far as LectureNotes is concerned, I did a number of careful timing measurements and I think I can definitely exclude that the delay is due to slow drawing or anything like that. It seems that, on a Nexus 10, Android sends input events with a noticeable delay of around 250ms or so if they origin from touching the display, this is why a drawn line lags behind your stylus or finger. However, the delay is absent if you use a mouse (connected via Bluetooth), and hence there is no lag and the line follows the mouse pointer very closely. This is somewhat bad news, as this means that this problem cannot be solved within LectureNotes.

If that is the case, could the input delay be tweaked or removed through kernel modifications?
@EniGmA1987: If my explanation is correct and if one can modify the input handling, this might be possible. It seems that users with non-stock ROMS do not suffer from this problem, but this is just my impression based on contacts with LectureNotes' users and might be wrong.

Sorry for not being more involved in this thread...been really busy lately.
I feel that have solved this issue for my current configuration. I've found that with the following setup, any lag that may be occurring is so slight that I either don't notice or I don't mind it:
-Get a stylus that actually works well (I had accidentally bought the first generation of the Adonit Jot Pro which has horrible sensitivity. However, after obtaining the 2nd generation, I've had no problems at all... one of my biggest reasons behind the lag was this 1st generation stylus)
-Stock 4.2.2
-Run Seeder 2.0
-DON'T force GPU handling
-Using LectureNotes Pro
-Create all lecture notes notebooks with a much higher resolution than what is initially set as the default. (This is what made the biggest difference)
From what I've observed, it seems to me that the best explanation behind any significant lag on this device is its extremely high resolution. I assume that most handwriting apps are programmed in such a way that the increase in pixel count hinders the sensitivity of the app itself.
