Is there any ROM that has both Halo and a functional ir blaster? I've been searching through the Roms and nothing I've seen has both. any ideas?
I don't think so. Tasks rom supports ir. You could grab that and this app in the meantime: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paranoid.halo&hl=en
Unfortunately that app doesn't work unless the ROM supports Halo. I know it's only matter of time before PAC supports the ir blaster or Task figures out Halo so I guess it's a waiting game for me.
There's another halo-like app on the play store. It worked on tasks. I can't remember the name. I tried it a couple weeks ago. Have since deleted it as I have no need for such a feature
Floating notifications is what you're looking for, I think.

Hi,
How to get Nexus 10 to have split screen multitasking like Note2?
Is it possible at all?
Also, can you run apps in windowed mode in Android?
At the moment, I can have browser in a window and video player in a window (super video, but no sound for some reason...), and it would be good if i could have more options like this.
Thanks
That that is a touch-wiz thing. If you want that you might as well get the galaxy note 10.1
Any chance this could be coded into custom roms though?
There's a floating browser app that works quite well. Try searching for that.

Try stick it . a bit buggy but works well.

It's doable if not very elegant.
LilyPad Chat
BS player

I've tried out a couple floating video apps, and I like Popcorn player the most. Also Floating Browser Flux is an okay free browser.
Multi window support is possible. I suppose it could be built into cyanogenmod. But I bet it would most likely come as a flashable zip, not a built-in feature. It would probably be really difficult to code though. It's not really what most XDA members would be able to do. Maybe we could get the Paranoid Android devs to work on it? They seem like the most qualified to me.
The Nexus 10 is a powerful device. One of the major downfalls with Android is the lack of mulit-window support. The Nexus 10 could become a super functional powerhouse for productivity if we could just get it to display more than one screen at a time.

CM actually tried to implement something very similar Multiwindow in CM9 (look up Cornerstone). Google went Maffia on them and dropped hints that they would blacklist CM roms from accessing the market if they went through with it since there's potential for apps to not work right. They were worried that any issues that arose from such a setup would be blamed on the devs of the apps.

Its doable, but its also understandable why devs dont want to touch it anymore. Before that happened, you'd see plenty of unofficial CM builds with cornerstone integrated.
Actually, there's a brand that is developing an app... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOqBAfMwCAc
Thinking of moving to ASOP based ( cm or paranoid, etc ) rom.
However the s health app with pedometer is a big miss for these roms.
What are the alternative apps that people are using. I tried a bunch of them but nothing seems to be working well like S health
Thanks
Did you ever find something suitable? I'm looking for the same thing.
Found few but nothing is as good as s health. The biggest issue had been having the app killed. S health runs 24 x 7 with no user input.

Wich AOSP ROM are you using? I've tried with CM11 but pedometer sensor was not working on milestone 9,at least for me... I love AOSP ROMs and would be great having a full functional alternative to stock.
Thank you!
Am back to Stock rom :crying:

This one doesn't work for me (CM11 M12). Counts the first step, then shows about 214 million steps... :crying::crying:
Do you guys know of health app that google released a few weeks ago?
Its called google fit
It 's fairly accuuratr in counting steps, determining whether you are running or biking etc etc
It does not have a start button and runs in the background .give it a day or two to sum up all the information
Its available on the playstore(syncs all the data to the cloud also hence you don't lose your progress)
I have two Tab 8.4's and 2 S5's that no longer have functional ir blasters. I haven't seen anything in the forums about this - has anyone heard? Is there a fix. No app that uses the ir blaster works on 4 different devices of mine.

Are you rooted, custom rom/kernel/, mods installed? Tried a factory reset or reflash the stock rom with Odin? I`m running CM 11 and IR is working fine.
works for me on stock
dont think it works on custom kernel

IR works with CM rom and kernel.
I am stock on both tabs and both s5s. I can't imagine it'd be 4 concurrent hardware failures. It's gotta be something Samsung pushed to me. The
The only IR app that works is Samsung's WatchOn. Peel, Smart IR, and a couple other ones no longer work.
I've been pestering Samsung about it. They had me troubleshoot one of the S5s. Troubleshooting consisted of booting into safe mode and trying the ir blaster apps there. None of them actually load in safe mode, which apparently was unexpected. Now they are "escalating" the case. I can't believe I'm the only one with this issue- 4 devices all develop the same issue at around the same time? Definitely suggests an issue on Samsung's part.
No problem here on S5 and note 10.1; the only time I had problems was when I activated ART
Ive done some sniffing around, but i cant seem to find any solid answer.
Is there or is there not fingerprint support on cm or stock android based roms?
I dont need to set it as screen lock, i just want to use the xposed module fingerlock, if that makes any difference.

I'm about 90% sure the fingerprint reader only works on TW based roms since any others don't have the driver for it and no ones been able to decode it to implement it in aosp roms.

Well ****.
I honestly had no idea when buying that that might be an issue.
I like TW but it sucks ram like crazy.. Brand bew phone is having trouble multitasking with only a few hundred mb free of ram usually and when i close all the most free ram is 700 mb...
Well i can probably manage without the fingerprint.
Will i still be able to use the ir blaster as a remote? Or is that out too?
...
IR blaster works on CM.

Hi
I love the note 4, and always regretted the upgrades I got, the note 4 was my swiss army knife and the hardware features really went down year on year.
So, I'm going to ditch my Note 20 Ultra and return to the Note 4.
But, like everyone I want the Holy Grail - a fast modern ROM that also has all sensors and functions working like UV sensor, barometer and IR blaster.
I'm working long hours with the health service on Covid projects and don't have time to eat never mind wade through the ROM section.
Is there such a thing, or is there a non-rooted way to pep the device up without hammering the battery life?
I say non-rooted as I have to keep some apps that detect root and so unless there's a truly reliable method of concealing it I need to keep away from the pleasures of root.
Thanks
Joe
had the afternoon off, I can't see a single custom rom with uv sensor support. I've tried 2and a manual install of the apk to use it but it doesn't work.
is stock the only thing i can use? any debloaters that are good?
Hya Joe Bongo. I have been on the quest as well for a ROM - not a PERFECT ROM - but PERFECT FOR ME ROM. I have been messing with CrDroid and straight up Lineage 17/18.
The good news is that I use the IR blaster all the time! In fact I have kept thru TB a static copy of the PEEL remote control app but also using aSmart Remote app. I find good sucess with both roms but CrDroid is a little bit more customizable but otherwise very similar. I am runing a Sprint N910P and really the only problems I am having is SMS over LTE and FitBit sync but can't be too critical becuase I think it is a 3rd party problem more than a ROM problem.
Let me know how your search goes!

Well I've looked some more and can't see anything that will let me use the UV sensor. This may be a fool's errand living in the UK cos the weather is so rubbish, but I wanted to make sure I could use all the toys on the phone.
I've gone back to a stock BTU rom on the 910F. It's definitely slower than Lineage and the other one I tried, but the UV sensor works. On the custom ROMs I tried the 3rd party UV app by moletag but it crashed so I figured that meant thre needed to be something in the ROM to enable its use.
Really frustrating, it looks like I might need some form of stripped out stock ROM or something to achieve my goal.

May I ask what you mean by UV sensor? I wasnt thinking and thought you meant the IR blaster but I am curious what or how the UV sensor is being used.
