[Q] Stock Firmware Update {I-9500} {india} - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I am on the Official Stock Rom DDUAMDK and I have rooted it using CF root.
Device Status Says Custom and Havent Installed any Recovery Yet
I am unable to Update VIA OTA obv cause i am rooted.
So How to Get teh Latest Indian Firmware. I am confused as in XDa there are a Hell lot of Firmwares available and don't know which one is Latest
Any other way to get the OTA or to get it update Via odin to Latest?

Here's the guide to enable OTA Update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255190
The letters contained in the name of the firmware describes the version of the same. You can check the latest one at samfirmware or checkfus.

I had already checked this method.. But as per Chainfire's thread Triangle away does not Work with I9500? Have you tested the Same?

Flashed the latest update /how to remove?

Hi guys, I recently flashed the latest update on my i9500 (the one that enables you to move apps to sd) I downloaded the update and flashed it using Odin. But I can no longer do an OTA update, whenever I check it says something like "Device is modified unable to update". It also says under device status as "Custom". BTw, I completely wiped my device but the flashed update still remains. I rooted BTw and using persues kernel if it matters.

Go to sammobile.com and find the firmware of your region and flash it.
Sent from my GT-I9500
Did you used to be rooted before you flashed the update with Odin?
In that case you'll probably have to re-root your device, run Triangle Away by chainfire to reset the counter and then flash the latest official firmware from sammobile. That ought to get you back to official status.

No, I rooted straight away after I flashed the update. So I can just run triangle away and flash the firmware for my region?

Worth a shot. It'd be interesting to see if it's even increased the counter. But.. if the right firmware isn't available on sammobile yet.. what'd you flash? And where did you get it?
Hi,
There is no Triangle Away for the i9500.
Once you root it ,there is no way to get it back to "Official"
Hence, you cannot get OTA
To get the firmware you want, look HERE

Yeah just bought it and quickly refunded as soon as I found d out its incompatible so does this mean I have to flash all the future update? Or wait for triangle away to be compatible I guess.

Djembey has an official status mod that u can use to stay rooted but have official status. I have done this on the latest rom for I9500, and it works. My device and binary status are still official, OTA works, and I am rooted.. You may need to flash the mod a couple of times and factory reset/wipe cache, but this works 100%.

Yes, thats true. My understanding is that using triangle away may become relevant when you want to return your phone to Samsung for warranty, but until then this method works perfectly for making the phone run almost like a stock unrooted phone.

[Q] Your device has been modified..

Hey People,
i previously rooted my phone on stock firmware along with changing the kernel. I have no restored and removed root back to stock but i get this message when doing a OTA update as i need the latest update to enable 4G on my phone. It says Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available. How do i go about fixing this? I have done some research and used the triangle app to reset the flash counter which now says Official rather then Custom In download mode? If i flash the firmware does it automatically Re flash my Kernel or is that separate? I have looked for the stock i9505 kernel i Just cant seem to find it.
Will appreciate the help
Thanks

flash stock firmware, stock kernel included
It's normal that it says that. Just install Xposed framework, then Wanam Xposed, there is an option to fake the system status as official and thus you'll be able to update firmware OTA.

Thank you for your answer, but unfortunately I can't use Kies since I use Linux and there is no Kies for Linux. May be another solution like adb?
Have u tried factory reset in stock recovery. I had this when I flashed official fw with odin. Was not untill I reset that the prob went away

Thank you!
I wiped the data, without success, then I flashed everything again with Heindall 1.4.0, then wiped everything again. Now I have official status and should receive OTA updates.
Edit: but after rooting the official status is lost. Now I think this may be normal.

Root & OTA updates?

I own a UK sim free SD800.
If i root it, and install Viper audio for example, can I still install the OTA updates that Samsung releases now and then, or will it screw things up rooted?
Thanks.

You'll have to flash new firmware via Odin and then root again. Sammobile.com is a good place to look for new released stock firmware.

Or you can wait for Chainfire to update Mobile Odin Pro to be compatible with the GN3.
Then you'll be able to flash the updated firmware directly from your GN3, and keep both data and root.
I rooted and use wanam to fake modified to official. Then I check OTA. This way server will not reject me by said system modified.

[Q] OTA S4 Update 4.4.3?

AT&T S4 SGH 1337 Apparently I can download an update OTA and Im already on 4.4.2 so is this 4.4.3 or something else. I dont want to update if it patches an exploit or adds more bloatware. I found nothing online talking about it so idk.
Could be 4.4.2 still with some minor patches but I hope you are right.

nb1 to nc1? If so there are several threads about it already, I'm not sure how you couldn't find anything about it. If your talking about an update above nc1, that could be new.

yeah its probably nc1 then. I was searching for "OTA S4 update 4.4.2" and found nothing. Is there an official list of updates somewhere so you know which does which?
Nc1 is 4.4.2 which I have had since it was released...when in downloaded it OTA there was several bugs...but when I flashed via Odin it corrected everything...this has been flawless on my s4 and have seen drastic improvement and so much faster

New i337 phone here. OTA update and I have plenty of bugs in the I337UCUFNC1 ROM. I can not Sync my contacts if any other sync is checked so I am forced to do all this manually and my battery life is terrible. If Flashing the NC1 rom seems to work with Odin, does anyone know of another working link for downloading the I337UCUFNC1 ROM?
side rant, I need to get these bloated AT&T apps off to . I am looking for some fix for this version of the rom.
1st post here so thanx to XDA forums, devs and members for this site.
