Nexus 4 app drawer lag - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently got my nexus 4 , and I'm one of those people who don't like any lag at all - especially when scrolling through pages and such. Recently, I've noticed choppiness when scrolling through the app drawer. I haven't installed much on the phone because I just got it. Has anyone else been experiencing this problem? If so, is there a solution? Is this normal?

I only had problem while scrolling through widgets section. Else it's all fine.

Yeah, widget section seems to be the problem. Doing a restart solves it. Apparently many others have the same problem. Every phone/device lags. Its inevitable. Installing nova launcher reduces lag dramatically. hopefully a software update soon will improve snappiness.

Same here but to stop the problem install CyanogenMod or a launcher and seperate the apps and widgets no lag for me now

I also disable fade indicator for home screen and app drawer and never experience lag

A very strange screen defect... :(

Whenever there is a certain shade of gray, there is a bunch of green pixels. I don't mind a whole lot but it's annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this? Fix??

It looks like you might have to return it.... not experiencing anything like that on mine and I had a few weird things happen here and there

I'm not going to return it unless something serious occurs. This doesn't really bother me unless I'm in the settings app or in poweramp.

Fair enough I guess.... how about reading in night mode?

Likely to only get worse.
Fixed!! I just flashed a new ROM and the problem went away

Actually it was the kernel that did it. Trinity seven alpha 86. Great kernel but needs work

How do I put an app in the background instead of closing?

Hi,
I am very annoyed with Google drive combined with pdf readers! I put my reading materials (pdf) on my Google drive account (offline mode) but every time when I switch focus to something else like music player PDF reader closes and then I have to load from Google drive again and scroll back to my last Page. I don't want my pdf reader to close but run in the background like connectbot!
Backgrounder on i phone works great. My nexus 7 isn't rooted btw.

Same thing happens to me as well except I have to open it with file explorer. Really annoying.

Maybe you can try using the multitasking button instead of home.

Haha, **** I feel so dumb. Thank you
Not used to the multitasking button but it does what you expected! I can re open pdf reader using the button and I can continue reading!

Is it the tablet or the version of android?

It's likely the apps you're using.
The xda app in particular is terrible. You're better off using a browser

Multi window on nova launcher

Been using the nova for awhile now,
The side panel with all the apps is there abd I can drag all the compliant apps to the workspace, but they always just take up the entire screen.
I dont know if ot Matters but my workspace is sized at 5x4 (instead of the regular 4x4)
Has any of you experienced such problems? any Idea if/how I can get ot to work?

Fyi i'm also using nova launcher but all locked apps will not split and i lock my sms,fb,gallery you get the point

Well, everything worked fine with touchwiz.
And I haven't set any security options for any of the apps.
How/where would I check if they are protected?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Working fine here. Using nova 6x4.
working fine 5x4 nova launcher
Well, that tells me it's not a problem with the launcher.
Now why isn't it working as it should on my phone.
