I received my brand new N4 from Google on Wednesday, and pretty quickly I noticed that all across the left hand side of the screen it is lighter than the rest. In certain lighting and on grey backgrounds it's more noticeable. At first the discoloration looked more defined and I thought it was maybe the area the screen was glued down, but now it seems to be spreading. Is this a known issue? Is Google suppose to replace this kind of thing, or do I need to go to LG for my warranty?

Mine was doing that too a while after I replaced my screen. It turned out that my battery had swelled because I pierced the casing when I removed it. Replaced it and all is well. But if it's new? Have them exchange it.
I had the same issue my screen ways super discolorated but after 3 days it went away.

Yeah I'm just going to get it replaced, it's still spreading. Thank guys.

Never owned a IPS screen or so.
Is it normal to have yellow tint on the edges when having a black background ? When I have a white background its pure white ( saw someone with yellow tint on white background) .
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Nope. That is one of the problems that some users are facing. You should RMA your 7.
It would be pretty bogus if that was how ALL IPS screens were, lol.

True. After hours or researched. I came up with not much to go off by lol.
PC screens with IPS screens were saying that yellow tint were cause by a glue not being dry out evaporated yet and the more you use it they tend to just go away and get Better. I guess iPad 2 had similar problems. Most of them advice to use it more and they will go away so I might try that . I'd hate to be without this for a week to 2 weeks. But then again I got mine at Sams but their put and no way of knowing when they we will one.
Didn't happen doh until I got some heavy duty gaming last night. So might have gotten hot and was evaporating the left over glue? Lol correct me if I am wrong but that's what I gather so far..

I don't have it in mine and don't know much about it but my roommates IPS monitor NEVER had a yellow tint.
And Google will do an advanced RMA where they send you one and put a hold on your credit card until you send the other one back.

...have a Nexus 7 that had no screen raise or separation out of the box and it's still that way after days/weeks?
I ask because we all know about the problem coming out of the box but now I'm also hearing about devices that were fine out of the box but are now raising and/or separating.
I also ask because I am on device number 7 and this one finally had no screen raise or separation out of the box and has stayed that way for two days so far. I'm just afraid it will come up eventually.
Thoughts?

Had mine for almost a month now and haven't had any issues.
I bought 2, one on July 13 and the other on July 23. No issues.
Great to hear guys! I'm hoping this is the winner.
There are two differences with this one compared to the others that had to be returned. One is the serial number starts with C70K and it also only had one layer of black tape as opposed to two on my others.
May not mean anything but my screen is intact and no flicker.

Cheap or defective Lithium Ion battery over heats and expands, Causes screen to lift up
or it causes too much overheating where the display adhesive weakens.
I am lucky no color problems no screen lifting or separating
two with no lifting so far. One did have a dead pixel though.

Bought mine at GameStop. The first one I received had minimal screen raise and a really annoying yellowing on the right side of the screen. So I took it back and my replacement is absolutely perfect. I made sure to check for every issue out of the box. I've had it for a week now and no screen separation issue has occurred, so I'm hoping I'm ok.

Got mine through Google Play, one of the first 8GB ones shipped. No screen lift or flicker. Can't comment on the color temp since I don't have another one to compare it against.

Got mine July 14th and still haven't seen any separation.
Well as many of you posted you had flawless Nexus I pulled the trigger but for my horror I got a Lemon.
First I thought I had only the screen lift but after two weeks It have started to develop Screen Flicker and the slightest screen bleed in the right corner... a black pixel line when I open a hard task or its charging something.... the screen not responding and the ghosting :banghead: to my other horror I can't return it cause my father bought it to me and I'm in Mexico so no return but I wanted to know what are Software related and what are hardware related

So the Screen Separation is Hardware as the Screen Bleed
But the flicker, the sudden line that I just see like one a day and the ghosting that goes away with a reboot are all hardware?! The HTC titan had the ghosting too and with an update it went away

Well actually the screen flicker can be fixed by running a script. Look for the thread that says screen washout out fix. It will disable the nvidia smart dimmer. And the screen lift can be fixed' Google it . And not sure what the this "ghosting" is.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Xparent White Tapatalk 2
Well first I don't know if when going from homescreen to homescreen and seeing the icons going from side to side it looks like it leaves a trace behind that disappears after a couple of milliseconds and I don't know if its just an animation or ghosting.....and second is after being in my social homescreen the white parts stay onscreen in the background until I reboot but that only happened once and never again

IIRC you used the clamp and heat method to try and reactivate the glue. Best of luck, but that approach has been temporary for most users.
And you telling him to Google it would almost certainly lead to him fiddling with the screws, which is even less effective than the clamping.
Here is the only fix known to work. It's a delicate procedure and I wouldn't recommend it unless your lift is severe, GalaxyDev.
Sorry for your troubles, but hopefully you can see past these flaws and enjoy the tablet as is. I'm sure this device is a rare sight in Mexico.
The only reason why I considered that is because my screen lift is so minor, its like a hair lifted so my guess is the adhesive needs rebonding.

Hi,
I have the screen lift issue and when opening my Nexus up I see I have two screws missing. Searching around I've read they are 3.2 mm Phillips screws with M1.4 thread. I know nothing about screws and have tried searching google with no luck. Does anyone know where I can buy these so I can try and replace my missing ones? The guy at HMV said their stock is all the same shipment so if I get a replacement it's most likely to have the same issue.
Any hardware shop. B&Q for example.
*Sent from Nexus S*
Asus apparently decided your screen attachment is better without those two screws, and you are going to replace them. Why?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Put them in and watch that screen rise even more
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
really? So the only fix is the glue? I thought as some seem to be fixing their screen lift by tightening the screws it would work. Back to the drawing board I guess.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Give it a shot if you want, sod putting glue anyway near my screen, if its that bad take it back

The screen lift isn't too bad more worried about it getting worse in the future. I'm thinking about returning it but my Nexus is perfect bar this lift and with all the issues being reported I'm worried I'll get one with even more issues.

I have a little and a mean a little hardly even noticeable screen lift on the left hand side if u hold in portrait and type with ya thumbs its wear my hand would go, I'm not returning again I'm on my 3rd

I recently had my nexus 4 screen repaired on the replacement part there is a 90 day warranty that is still going on. However I have started to see small white dots that appear when the screen shows lighter colors. I did not see this before it was repaired. I brought it back and they said that it wasn't a problem with the LCD and didn't replace the piece. But it seems to have gotten worse and there are these dots in other places. Does anybody have any idea how this could be fixed or what the problem is? Thank you.

Take a picture. There are some dots that create a pattern and can be seen when there screen is off but that's normal
