[Q] Bluetooth headset lag - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

I want to express my greetings to this forum as I have been passively been browsing these forums since last year.
But it seems legit to post this as it has not yet been asked (i think).
Has anyone experienced sound lag using a bluetooth headset when playing games? Well, when it comes to movies and calls, it seems that the lag is not present at all. However, when I play games (like Jetpack Joyride), I notice 1-1.5 seconds lag. I have tested my headset with other devices like some feature phones and pcs and it seems to work just fine.
Also, I tested it on android phones of my family (a galaxy y also and some (i think chinese) 1ghz dual core smartphone) and it also lags there...
Experiences and/or solutions are widely accepted... please,,, i boght the headphones for that specific use. Now I'm stuck with laggy sound on headset.. dang.

Have you tried it on other games? Does it lag? If yes, it's your smartphone or the headset

Tomtom 7, GPS lag

Hello,
I have been running Tomtom on my PDA's for years now without a problem.
When I changed from an HP-Ipaq to a E-ten X500 I experienced also lag.
Lag means that when you are driving, the pointer is 20 meters behind. When the car stops, Tomtom seems to be driving for a few seconds.
I solved the problem in the E-ten X500 by changing the registry
HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CachSize:2048
With the Xperia, this tweak did not solve the problem, altough the Xperia is much faster and has more internal memory.
I even tried to boost up the catchesize up to 16384 with Xperia tweak 2.0. This did not help either.
Anyone got a suggestion?
Best regards,
Jan

I may not have, but I wanted to tell you that i know what you feel: i moved from a magician+btgps to a diamond, and the lag is there, just like you say:
"means that when you are driving, the pointer is 20 meters behind. When the car stops, Tomtom seems to be driving for a few seconds."
I also know what you mean, same happen to me.
I have not tested this yet but using tweaks2k2.net there is a setting for Video and have the ability to speed up video display - not sure if it will work or not as i have not had the chance to test it out yet.
me too
I have also experienced GPS lag but it is dependant on how many satellites i am connected to at the time. even with six or seven connected i still get around a ten meter gap however with around ten upwards its fine.
Hope this helps,
Creamy
Yep, I got the dreaded GPS lag too. Never happened with my N95 so was disappointed. I did think it may have had something to do with the satellites but I haven't been bothered to try a get a fix on more to test whether that improved things.
The X1 comes from the same idiots who built the "GPS laggy" Diamond, Touch Pro and HD....
Now why am I not surprise that the X1 lags?
Discussions are still on here (700+ posts and counting)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427888
i haven't really bothered to concern about this but i did find this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439002&page=20 for the Raphael.. i guess the x1 and diamond and raphael have the same probs and lag so i asume this might work on the x1 too...
Maybe this issue is something to do with software rather than hardware? The reason I say this is because I have tried tomtom 7, copilot 7 and igo 8 on my x1 and they all have this gps lag problem. However, I also have route 66 mobile 8 which is also good and the map cursor when moving is spot on accurate with no lag at all. No idea why though I'm afraid..
I owned a Touch Pro, and I can assure you that the Xperia does NOT suffer the issues which plague that device.
Yes, the Xperia has a little lag, but nothing particularly out of the ordinary. No GPS will be absolutely precise because of the time taken to transmit and process the data.
The Touch Pro for me was seriously bad - massive lag, frequently several hundred yards off in its positioning, and often dropping signals altogether. That is why there is a 700+ post thread about it. The Xperia has none of these problems (well, not mine anyway... )

Can't agree with that. My Nokia N95 was always absolutely spot on!
Well and how long did it take for your n95 to get a fix?
well did you ever got a fix when you were driving?.. i guess not.. so i would rather have qick fix and lag than waiting long time to get a fix then drive..
well i do have a n95 and i'm a symbian moderator on a forum so i do know what i talk about .. the raphaels gps is better usable that the n95.. eventhough the lag..
well and as for the one who stated that there were 700+ pages about a lag ifor raphael and no o much for x1.. well what do you call this thread buddy it has already started lol..
well it's better to try to impove what we got than crying about it forever..
Hey, chill out Arju007, we are all entitled to our views.
I too have a N95 (which I love), and I too am a Symbian forum Admin elsewhere, but I respect those who do not share my opinions. I just may not agree with them, that's all.
The N95 is indeed a very good GPS system, when it gets going (I find the Xperia is far quicker to get a fix). My old Palm Tungsten T3 with a GPSlim 236 bluetooth receiver was good too, and I don't notice anything significantly worse with the Xperia. I think Ruudfood has a point in that the N95 did seem a touch 'crisper' in its positioning, but only very slightly - I personally don't think the differences are that material. Others are welcome to disagree.
The main point I think is that the 'lag' isn't anywhere near as bad as the Touch Pro I had despite the hardware being identical.
sorry for being to sirectly, i didn't intend to eventhough it sounded like that..
well the raphael might have a lag issue as many people knows about but by using of what applications and tips and tweaks we got we've managed to make the lag little less... well it's better to improve what we have as i stated before than nagging about it.. well as i use raphael here in norway i haven't got any problem with it. i do see a little lag but not as much as people says with 100 yards and stuff.. mine is just like 2-5 meters sometimes much less.. so i do not have any problems with mine.. each time i get a fix i'm connected to atleast 7 or more sattelites... never less than 7 .. well that might be why i encounter less lag?. well i don't know, only speculation well as for being on topic i guess people could try the thread i shared here for the raphael on x1 and see if there is any difference.. the lag might be lesser .. thus lesser thus better ey?

Yes, I could get a fix while I was driving after A-GPS was added in the 2nd (or 3rd - can't remember) firmware update.
well the a-gps isn't something people in the symbian community wanted to use because of the the small payment after connecting to 3g, edge, hsdpa or and so forth..
Hi
I am a owner of Raphael and X1. Touch Pro has MUCH lag. X1 has a little lag. Not too bad but much worse that Samsung Omnia.
In my opinion the lag in latest HTC devices (Diamond, .... x1, hd) is produced 50% by very poor graphics performance (Refresh rate in a city is 2-3 frames/seconds for igo8. Samnsung omnia is much more smoother, almost like a video game¡ ) and 50% by low sensibility gps and static navigation system.....
Dani
I wondered if it was something to do with the internal GPS since the X1 has a fast processor and plenty of RAM, since we have seen lag in other GPS apps too.
I still have an old bluetooth GPS which I used use with my SE P990 (that did not lag and the CPU/memory suck on that device).
I might do some comparisons when I have time - anyone else here have an external GPS they could test too?

if it's really the poor graphics performance, how can we change this? can we use hardware acceleration in tomtom like in tony hawks? has someone tried to use wvga fix an set an other resolution while navigating? if it works better with a smaller resolution, it might be indeed the graphics performance.
This is an old war for all the kaiser-diamond-touch pro-x1 users. As you know is related with the Qualcomm drivers for the graphic card. Personally I think there isnt a solution. HTC and Qualcomm wont provide those drivers. One interesting news is that HTC wont join Qualcomm to design/build their next devices. I hope they learn of these issues. By now HTC says they dont design multimedia or games devices so they dont have to provice those drivers

How good is the Leo?

Hey guys, just sold one of my TG01's and was thinking of what new phone to get. I've been thinking about the Leo, but im not 100% sure yet, how are you guys liking it or disliking it?
any other phones you guys suggest?
well
From my point of view it is the best WinMo phone out there. It does have its issues but they are more from a perspective of it could be done better and does not compare to other competing phones.
The iPhone is also a great phone but a different audience. I personally would/do get frustrated with a iPhone but would easily buy one for my wife.
In every aspect the HD2 tops every other phone and once you get it in your hands you will love it. My battery usage suxs as I can't help picking it up and playing with it. It spends more time being fondled than actually making calls
Video playback is a dream. Screen is great to use and its big but you don't even notice it in your pocket.
5 stars from me.
It's a spectacular handset a far as i'm concerned. Obviously some people have experienced bugs and so they'll have a different perspective, but so far my experience is overwhelmingly positive. I came from a kaiser, and the performance feels like a huge leap. Full desktop-page web browsing is astounding - but maybe those coming from more recent phones wont be so blown away. I just can't believe how quickly it renders desktop content, how smooth the scrolling is, and how readable it all is even at quite a low zoom level.
The handset really is a joy to use. In the past i've had issues with winmo forgetting wireless network keys etc. - no such misfortune here. It's storing 2 or three and switching between them as i move around the building with no hiccups at all. Battery life feels better with wireless on too, but i have not measured this empirically.
I would prefer more apps to auto rotate out of the box, but there are already posts around the net (probably here too although i haven't looked) about easily brining in this sort of tweak. That's the reason you get a phone with this sort of platform really - the flexibility it affords you. The experience is completely customisable, although that said, it's pretty damn fantastic straight out of the box
Leo is the best wm ppc out there right now! Of course all the good scoops are in the threads in the Leo section...
Great phone, best PPC without a doubt.
Certainly not topping every other phone in every aspect, as one person above suggests, but very good.
One line summary of the HD 2: A rough diamond waiting to be polished.
Either wait until Custom ROMS are avaliable or just get a DROID / Milestone
If you like WinMo, Leo's the best WinMo handset at teh moment. Probably you will have to figure out what you really expect from a handset.
Btw, Milestone yuck! Just sayin'
I heard on two main issues:
1. Pink tint on the pictures (is it fixed yet)?
2. WinMo typical slow downs over time. Lags, etc, even on the Sense UI level. Is it true?
How does it compare to units like HTC Pro for instance in terms of smootheness and lags?
I have leo for two days and I can say att the device is lovely,is big but dont take any place when i put them in my jeans pocket, the touch screen is the best one ever, but is some annoyings bugs in them, wait for a uppdate of the rom for to by or try to fix,I wil tell you some of them in my device:
-audio manager crash after 45 sec to play a song with my memory card(sanddisk16gb)
-pink color in album with the camera pictures
-when you take a picture the music stop and you need to go to the player and start again to play the song
-bluetooth sound is like a AM radio and the volume can´t be controlled(SE HBH-IS800)
-dont play the almost video format
-maybe is coming something more in the way
my previous device:Xperia x1 and many many others

1. Haven't made many pictures yet but I know I don't have to expect much from the HTC camera's unfortunately. Was the same on the HTC Touch Pro. It's really a shame they don't put better camera modules in their phones but ok... The pink tint IS an issue appearantly and doesn't seem to be fixed yet.
2. Haven't noticed any slowdowns like this... There is the occasional hickup
but they seem to be caused more by a certain application or part of the sense software then by windows mobile.
Compared to the HTC Touch Pro and Omnia Qwerty Pro (B7610) it's fast. I really notice a difference opening apps, going through files, going through settings, etc.
Browsing is a dream, much faster then on the HTC Touch Pro and B7610 as well. It seems my connection is better but also the cpu makes a difference. And then there's the huge screen, REALLY helps a lot.
Same goes for playing videos. Again the screen and cpu make it such a delight. Videos unable to play on the Touch Pro and B7610 play very smoothly on the HD2.
They onscreen keyboard was a problem for me in the beginning, I had a really hard time typing even one word correctly. Now with the firmware update this seems mostly fixed. I still miss keys every now and then (I don't use XT9 correction) but I find typing to be much easier now. Coming from phones with hardware keyboards this was one of the main issues for me, how would it be without a hardware keyboard, but again the screensize makes this very doable.
All in all I'm loving the phone so far...

About the audioplayer 45 second crash. No problems here, is this always the case for you? I use pocketplayer most of the time though, no problems listening to music 2hrs continuously (in the train).
I heard the audio player also stops/pauses/causes problems when the device goes into sleep mode. Something I had on my HTC pro (and believe samsung) as well. Pocketplayer solves this as well...
Have the SE HBH DS-980 bluetooth headset myself and no problems, heard other complaints about the sound quality (and some fix which I haven't tried yet) so perhaps my standards are very low. Pausing, volume, etc controls are working just fine though...
Also no problems with video (formats) playback, again might be due to pocketplayer because the default media player is kinda limited indeed.

when will the custom roms be avail? anytime soon? anyone know?
Coming from a SEX1, I find this phone to be a huge sigh of relieve. I love it, it's fast. Reception is extremely good.
Camera might be better IMO, personally I don't experience the pink hue, but when taking pictures and watching them on pc I find they aren't good quality at all.Maybe fiddling around with settings would do the trick, but I'm illiterate when it comes to camera settings.
As I said, I love the phone. Pretty sure, you'll fall in love with it.
Its Awesome
Compared to other WinMo phones I have ha I can tell you that the Leo is awesome. The screen is a real winner, yet the overall size is far more comfotable that the hermes or Kaiser that I had before. The sense interface features are stunning. I am extremely happy with my purchase and waiting for the chefs to start tweaking the ROM...
I've owned the TyTN I, TyTn II, SEX1, Palm Pro, etc and the Leo/HD2 is the best WM device by a large margin. One area people may not have mentioned is the great battery life - the best I have seen in a WM device, especially given the size of the screen and the CPU speed.

Cutom roms are ready for cooking but the HardSPL needs to be completed yet before they can be flashed to peoples phones and I havent heard much information on that yet.
HTC Herald > HTC TouchPro > Samsung Omnia > HTC HD2 <--- The best of all. Of course has issues as all phones, but its speed and responsiveness blacks them out.
whats faster guys, the HD2 or the TG01, anyone knows? i had the TG01 actually had 2, sold one, and using one for the time being, they are both TG01 and HD2 1ghz, but which one is faster (software wise i guess)
One of the biggests facts making me like the hd2 is the fact is has a capicative screen, so much more responsive, no more getting your stylus of using your fingernail to get things done. Just a very slight touch

Skipping during bluetooth streaming

I've found when streaming music over bluetooth there will be occasionally skips but only when the Note 3 screen is off. I've fixed the problem temporarily by keep my screen awake.
Anyone else experience this issue? Kinda reminds me of problems some folks experienced with the 2.2.

Google Play Music Stuttering Over Bluetooth
This isn't restricted to Verizon or Galaxy Note 3 devices. I thought it might be mostly Samsung related but I'm seeing this same trend on other mobile devices as well. This is a Google Music issue that is tied in with the Equalizer and Bluetooth. And it's not merely "Skipping", it involves a split-second fluctuation in volume from low back to normal that gives the impression of skipping, hence why I refer to it as "Stuttering" for lack of a better word.
It's driving me insane and making me see why people are always raving about Apple's iPhone. When I had it for over 2 years, there were no issues even remotely related to problems such as these!
i experience this too. drives me insane. i've troubleshooted everything i can, and the phone hardware or OS is all i can blame. can we get some development on this?:crying:
I am having the same issue with my Note 3 but it is happening without using bluetooth. Just playing music and no matter what music player I am using , it is skipping. I am rooted with Alliance ROM. Not sure how to fix this?

But iphone got no freedom of flashing roms. You get the same iOS in every device it's disgusting. With Android we got freedom to do what we want when we want ya somethings break but when the dev breaks one feature he more then likely fixed a few others. work in progress. Couldn't pay this guy to use a crapple.

[Q] audio latency

Hi everybody! I don't know exactly if this is the correct forum to post my question, but there it goes. For some years I was a iphone user, and what made me stay for some time with iphone was the ios low latency capabilities. There were a promise that the S Galaxy series would, some day, be able to deal with low latency audio processing. This did not happened yet. Does anyone have some news about it? I have now a Galaxy S5, and I really appreciate the possibility to connect my guitar into my smartphone and add effects in real time. Thank you very much.

[Q] Poor bluetooth audio quality when connected to Gear

Hey there,
I'm no audiophile - but this has been bugging me ever since I unboxed my Galaxy Gear and paired it with my Note 3.
I listen to music a lot on my phone using my bluetooth headphones. I noticed that whenever my Gear is connected, bluetooth audio quality suffers a lot - it feels like the bitrate is cut in half or something (shouldn't be necessary, I know BT 4.0 has much more bandwidth than SBC encoded music requires). Highs crackle and feel tinny, and the lows become shallow.
Is there a way to remedy this? I'd hate to have to disconnect my Gear everytime I want to listen to music, which is what I've been doing for the last eight and a half months. Custom ROMs don't help, and it doesn't seem to matter either whether my Gear runs Tizen or Android.
Thanks in advance, I'm psyched to try anything anyone has to offer.
-odd
PS. Even if you can't offer a solution, if you've noticed the same thing please reply to this thread so I know I'm not insane or anything. Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion.
CSR diagnostics revealed that bitpool was indeed dropped from 52 to 35 whenever Gear was connected, however this problem counts as solved because I actually managed to enable the hidden aptX support in my headphones, so low bitpool is no longer an issue.
In short: Stop using SBC and the problem will go away.
I don't know how you do that. I got the same issue with my gear and galaxy s5 paired with my sol republic track air. those headphone are supposed to use aptx but my music still suffer a lot when connected to Gear
