[Q] How do you uninstall a side-loaded app? - Ouya General

Seems like I should be able to figure it out just by pressing buttons. But I couldn't figure out how to uninstall my side-loaded apps. Any hints?

Go under system to the advanced settings. Go to apps, find it and uninstall.

Thanks.

I hate sounding ruse, but is this your first Android related device?

Every app is auto starting after it is installed

Kind of annoying... is there a setting to stop this? Or I may have got some malware?

I've never heard of this. After installing an app in the Play Store, it just opens by itself?
I'm not exactly sure what you mean either, but I find it an enlightening process to use something like Autostarts every now and then to keep an eye on new apps and widgets to see when they're triggering themselves.

Well, basically it's every app, no matter l install from play store or I side load an apk. It wasn't like this initially, but I cannot figure out what triggered this.

Do you have to be rooted to use a launcher like Apex?

Are all launchers and themes for rooted devices only?
I believe you can use them without root, you may be missing some features though

You don't need root to switch launcher. Just install a launcher, and press the home-button. You'll get a popup-question that asks which launcher to use, choose the one you want, and select the "Use always" option.
It's resetable of course.
But often you'll get more options with root.

Thanks for the help. Most launchers are at the play store?

[Q] I selected the wrong app to always open a function.

While in the Facebook app I mistakenly selected a browser to ALWAYS open a YouTube link. I don't want it set that way and how can I remove that it is set this way? I am rooted by the way.
Settings, apps, browser, clear defaults should do it.

Yup, Thank You

Why is this happening?

Recently I've been getting this notification when I try to update an app.
How do I get rid of it?

You may have a rogue app.
You may need to check all your apps
To track it down.

Lol. Its a rogue/adware/spyware app. Goto application manager from settings and hunt it down. Roast it and eat it. Also, maybe uninstall it?

Defiantly a rough app.
I would suggest a wipe in such cases, this is to fully ensure elimination of the problem.

Go to Settings>Apps> View all apps and find your app in the list. open it and enable it
Tried but its not in there

If it's disabled, it won't be in alphabetical order with your other apps. It will be at the very end of the list.
In the settings menu it is named Contacts.

You sure you froze the app and didn't accidentally deinstalled it?

Re-Check, the name might be. Contacts or it may be on the end of the list
If it's not, then try re-installing your rom or you can manually push the apk to /system/app/

How did you sort it out? I installed Overstock rom on my nexus 4 and after that I am unable to add contact. I cleared data from Settings->Apps-> Contact storage , still no luck.. Can you please explain what steps you took to sort it out.
