[Q] Slim Rom and Kernel - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Love this rom, but is there a way to get the camcorder working by Kernel update?
Also wifi and data strength is kinda low, any suggestions? By low I mean that I keep switching to 3g.

As nice as Slim is, this seems to be the only 4.2.2 ROM for the M that has not been keeping up with the latest developments. There are several other 4.2.2 ROMs that are working in every aspect.
Updating the kernel on this ROM will NOT work.

Guess will be trying eclipse. Used to own a sammy charge and loved it there.

try this one out first:
http://droid-hive.com/index.php?/topic/2047-romunofficial-aokp-625/

Tried both.
Eclipse has way too many bugs with sound when docked and fcs, Aokp seems stable but worst signal strength so far I haven't seen it go into 4g yet and wifi is always fair maybe good if really close to the router. Any suggestions?

Try a clean flash again. I get great signal on AOKP, better than Slim and as good as stock. If you don't like the AOSP ROMs, stick with stock.

Can't wait to try it!
Thought this want possible without full root?

looks very promising. I saw something about a score of 9000, what is that concerning?

This is just a taste of what is to come. Cant wait to get my hands on that kernal!

Wow... that's nice! Hmmm... how was it done? I am confused on how it was flashed. Obviously, it wasn't flashed but.. sorry.. just confused. And excited! This will be interesting to examine... to say the least!
In light of not being able to use a custom kernel yet, he's doing it with a kernel module I believe.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
.... I really don't know what to say about that right now...
How hot's the device runnin?
How long is the battery lasting?
Is the device still stable? (NOT FREEZING...)
These are things we need to know!
And we will, in time. Not rushin, just really shocked and excited at the same time...

the only problem is the mute/unmute and GPS. Battery drain has been fixed a long time ago.

ohhh lol, so there isn't any sound issues? besides the toggle thingy?
Wait for it. It is definitely not daily driver yet.
ill do just that

I've been using it for a daily driver for about one month now. I consider it stable enough as a daily driver as do many other people do.
The only annoying thing is mute/unmute. But it annoys my friends more than me because they start off saying "hello???" and then I remember to do it
The mute/unmute thing isn't much of an issue to me. Its only happened to me once. The only thing that bothers me is GPS but other than that its a good daily driver. Also one of the things that I really like about it is the T-Mobile theme engine. It makes switching themes a breeze. Being able to watch Netflix on my phone is great as well.

if you're on nexus s 4g, check out vhgomez ics build. i have had no complaints thus far.

I will recommend gummy nexus. Super fast and stable with EVERYTHING working. also oICS his is really good and smooth with also EVERYTHING working
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
oICS is IMHO, the best ICS ROM available right now.
oICS
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
OICS43 on my vote
Stock OTA. Went from all the cooked roms with force closes and random reboots to a very smooth and no issue OTA.
No matter what anybody says.
Stable = stock
I think the word "stable" or "bulletproof" or "swag" or "-_-" are overly used way out of proportion. To the point of them actually becoming meaning-less. Sad.
But since you're here I'm judging you want a custom ROM, because they're cooler. Well not even I could make a better ROM than oICS. Not even I.

oICSv43 has ran perfect for 3 days here. Everything works! Google video chat, camera, etc. I removed system apps I don't use and use setcpu to set the gov to conservative. Mild tweaks we all do. It works perfect. Using supplied kernel

for me, everything works perfectly. i never was able to get 4g on my phone before until i flashed this baby. i run it with the included kernel, on nstools, min 200 max 1000 on the lagfree govenor.
i agree that oics 43 is a very, very good ROM as well, but something about vhgomez really gets me.
if anything, just give a shot and if not happy, switch to another option.
happy new year!
Peter Alfonso Stock Rom + Latest Eugene kernel is the best combo Good luck

Over 1000 hr uptime on JB

This is pretty cool. I've yet to break the 100+ hour threshold on my NS4g because I'm always flashing or letting my phone die

Nice. some more info about rom, kernel and usage would be nice. Thanks!

Yes some info about ROM and other stuffs , though am pretty sure I will end up formatting and trying a new ROM in a month but with my ZTE Blade I found my stable ROM a long time back so this kind of uptime was normal in that still not so on Nexus.
i use stock rom and kernel on 2g and auto brigteness. (screen shot update on first post)

Stock rom's are actually stable. I'm sorry to tell you guys, but that's nothing impressive. Two of my coworkers have their running since they got updated to JB, and they're i9020a. Admittedly they are used as work phones but the point still stands. What is impressive is finding a custom ROM or a ROM with tweaks that can do this.
Many times custom roms are unstable, but there also stable roms..
Perhaps people who uses custom roms, like to flash and try new roms, change kernels and so on. So it's obvious that uptimes are lower than a user that doesn't change anything for 41 days (1000 hours)...

Group text threading

Just curious, does group threading work on 4.2? The development was getting real close to being merged in CM10 when 4.2 dropped.
I'll admit I didn't search in this forum first to see if this had been asked..sorry in advance of it has...
Ok sorry I see another post were there is a problem on the T-Mobile phones... how is the at&t version working?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but what ROM were you using? I can't seem to get this to work..
this should also work on stock or custom n4 rom that are running 4.2.. it's part of 4.2. Check your settings in Messaging app and make sure that Group Messaging is checked under MMS settings

No joke - here's a screenshot of my options
This is on the latest version of Paranoid Android.
I just pushed the MMS.apk from the latest nightly, and still no luck. Anyone have any ideas? If I strings the file, I can see it referenced:
Code:
Group messaging
Use MMS to send a single message when there are multiple recipients
Anyone have any ideas?
Is your hack for DPI messing with things or maybe it's a paranoid thing? It shows up just fine on CM10.1 for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34714506&postcount=8
This appears to be related to my issue. It's not just the APK...
