[Q] Whatsapp Backups - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

hey guys...
i Have a question. I recently changed my rom and so, i have a whatsapp bap of my chats. however, i had to go on vacation, and so, my backup was at home on my computer( i had re partitioned my SD card so my backup was on my comp). now,i have another set of messages on my phone as well.
Is there any way to MERGE these two backups into one so that i can have all my messages on my phone??
Any help would be appriciated!

Contact list backup.

I have no idea how to get Active Sync to backup my contact list. Im trying to find a program where I can just copy and paste them to my computer and then back once im done updating to the newest cingular rom.
Active Sync gives me an error about outlook having a diffrent user name or something and for the love of god i cant figure it out. Anyone can help out? I just want to backup my phone numbers, nothing else.
here's the solution
on your root of device; you'll find pim.vol file; copy it on ur sd card (i tried to copy it on my computer but it didnt let me) so copy it on sd card ; reflash your fone; and copy it back to original location (overwrite new pim.vol when u flash it)
easy>>huh?

Root of device: is the root directory of your device; with built in file explorer or via active sync explorer, you'll see your highest level of directory structure (few directories you'll see are APplication data, Conn Mgr, documents & settings, windows etc; along these directories; you'll see few files like pim.vol and few other files with *.vol extension
I dont know what else to define for root directory structure; may b you pick some windows for dummies book and get idea from it

Reflash means update rom - thats what the first poster was about to do. So if you ever update your rom or hard reset your device (i.e. return your device to factory condition) you have a backup of your pim.
Also you need to rename the new pim.vol to pim.vo before you can restore the backed up version as it wont overwrite that file using total commander file explorer etc...

[Q] ringtones issues on hd2

Sorry, maybe i found media.zip...
I try copy into device than i back here.
Sorry!
Nicola
Not full understanding what your saying, but on most builds that were missing the media folder, simply create one on your sd card and your all set.

You must extract the zip. There will be a folder media.zip, copy this to your android folder. Start android and the folder will load

[Q] Couldn't create new folder for SMS after update

Hi guyz, recently I updated my rom version to 2.53.707.4... Before that I backup all my SMS and other stuffs using PPCPimBackupV2.8.. I had a folder called saved SMS in the previous version, so when I backup I saved all the massages in that folder too..
So after flashing I restore everything but when I got to massages through start and in the drop down menu I couldn't see the saved folder.. Previously we can juz go to all massages and view all the folders and even create a new folder but with the new rom I couldnt do so..
So is there any fix for it? Thanks in advance..

Try an application like RingDroid.
thanks guys it really worked!!..
You just need to create a folder on your sd card called "media". The create a folder inside this called "ringtones".
Then put your custom ringtones in there and reboot. Now they will show in the ringtones list...no need to install any other app or copy the files each time you flash a new ROM.
Same thing for notifications, just add a "notifications" folder inside the media folder.

i hope this helped you out

That's strange, because I use Gingerbread, and mine are inside the media folder...I've used this method for a long time, even when I was using MDJ's early builds...
Oh wee, as long as it's working for you now

Hi.
I have not done any googlings, but just created three folders, ringtones, notifications and alarms in media folder and this is perfectly working. Each ringtone in every folder corresponds ringtones lists in settings. I did not even rebooted my phone.
I tried a while ago to get my custom rigtones and notifications to show up and play, to no avail, until I saw "The_Scotsman" post, I used an app called Rings Extended. It worked well but as of yesterday I have uninstalled it. I am running Gingerbread, CM7, ver. 2.3.7. Thanks goes out to the community and a special thanks to "The Scotsman"

In my root folder copied directly from the phone I have an 'android' folder that has a data folder in it with the com.google.android directories and I also have a 'data' folder at root. however that folder has nothing in it.

what u used to make a backup? if u got just from copying and pasting from mtp, no way to get those things back then.(at least, if your phone had 4.4,but probably would be the same for 4.3 or 4,.2)
Be a whole lot quicker to ask your phone Co to send you the information. They will for a small fee
