its not upgrading to a new version, his dalvik keeps getting wiped on boot. thats what happens when it rebuilds before boot. and, depending upon how many apps you have, can get long and annoying if its at every boot.
@Overdose1986 are you using a sound mod of any kind?

As the title states I am experiencing extreme lag even after installing a new ROM. I dont have much applications installed either.
When I install any rom the phone functions fine for a couple of days but once I start to get my applications installed the phone starts experiencing extreme lag on nearly every application.
can this be a hardware issue ?

Yes extreme lags but only starts after a day or two of me installing a new rom.
Status bar disappeared and I get a message saying android UI has stopped working. I did a factory restart but still no difference.

Might be time to change ROMs, did that ROM used to work and only now doing it?

lol, yeah I suppose it did.
I think I inferred that this was at the inception of the flash, and not something that just started happening.
He did factory reset and it is still doing it, which tells me it must just be the ROM.
Re: Status bar disappeared
Didn't do anything. I think i just tried to open an app and it suddenly closed and I got this error message, then status bar went.

Yeah dirty flash the same ROM, that should fix any system stuff that got corrupted while leaving your apps / data intact.

Flash the same rom again from recovery without wiping anything.
Edit: I was too late.
I wouldn't want to flash a rom because in the past I nearly ended up bricking my phone. I got Android on this phone through someone else. Isn't there another way around this, something more simple

Nope.
Since the problem originated without apparent reason, we don't know what caused it; we can't really tell you how to fix it without a re-flash.
And by the way, you can never brick your phone through CWM. So just re-flash the ROM. Besides, that "someone" had already done the hard part. He installed everything for you, now you just need to put the zip on your sdcard, boot into recovery and "install zip from sdcard".
So can i install any rom or just the same one and is there any thread on this.

You can flash any ROM and you will not brick your phone. You literally cannot brick an HD2 with anything android related, ONLY with radio stuff and WM6.5, so just read up on how to flash one and flash another ROM.

if something has been installed into the system partition, then it will still be there after a hard reset. Example, if you install a data2ext script, then do a hard reset, it will still be there when the phone restarts.

Yeah, that's why I told him to dirty flash the same ROM, but he has no clue which ROM he flashed, so at this point I think he should just find a ROM he thinks he'll like and clean flash it.
As long as he's messing with Android he can't do any actual harm.

What I meant is, you can install your previous ROM without having to do anything to your device aside of putting the previous ROM on the sd and flashing.
However, that DOES NOT mean you can install any other ROM without modifying the partitions.
And yes, there's a thread for this, it's called search.
P.S: Pay attention to the italicized keywords.
Do this as the easiest thing,
go to settings > about phone, and scroll all the way till you see the kernel version and build version.
Take a screenshot of that and upload it if you can.
This will tell us what ROM you have and you can dirty flash it.
If I restore a Nandroid backup of the stock ROM, will I be able to get OTA updates by Google? If not, will it be possible when I just flash the stock recovery?

We'll have the flashable zip of the ota within hours after it hits, no need to wait for it..
But I think you're right, you'll have to go back to the stock recovery.

Yep. Someone will release it within hours, you'll do a full wipe and install it. That simple! (Not from Google! Done good dev will release it after the Google event. I'd say 4-5 hrs at the most)
Questions are fine when asked at the right place. I remember telling you off at the PA thread a couple of days ago. You'd turn it to your personal thread..

All right very nice! so no need to flash a factory image! I am happy again, cause my PC died last week and maybe I wont have one myself for quite a time, I can use one of my parents but I am not likely to download a lot of things on their computer that they dont need

Hey guys I have recently rooted my Nexus 4 and left the stock rom on it. Now a few days later I am experiencing issues mainly with apps that change settings, like juicedefender or a cpu speed app.
I have done some research and according to juicedefender error log it shows I need to have busybox or I should have CyanogenMod.
Ok i hav 3 questions
1. Will installing busy box cause me to lose any data?
2. I know installing CyanogenMod ROM will clear all my data is there a way for me to backup need for speed and bad piggies?
3. Is there a way for me to keep my stock rom and fix these problems?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Since you're rooted all you need to do for backups is download Titanium Backup and use that to keep all of your data.

You will probably want to start with a stable release before jumping into a nightly. Nightly build aren't really known for stability.

To update cm all you need to do is download new rom, boot to recovery, flash rom and gapps, wipe cache, reboot. Of course this only applies if the rom base hasn't changed, which is infrequent.

If you are going to flash cm for the first time a wipe is required. Usually wipes aren't required when flashing a newer version of a Rom.
But will it wipe data automatically? No. Wiping data is an option you have to confirm in recovery.
Is that what you are asking?

Dude, stop using expletives in your titles. You have a thread open already so either change the title of that or continue with it. You don't have to swear to get help...
