Which is the T kernel?
Hardcore's K12T kernel.
Heard multiple things about installation.
Please confirm whether to install this WITH the lagfix on (ext4/voodoo) or start fresh
Also : Wipe/No wipe.
Should be helpful for everyone.
I installed it from a older version of ultimate with lagfix off and it worked for me.
it did not wipe but i usually do a wipe after a new rom.

Is it better than GingerborgMod 9.1.4? Any issues with what is called death charges with this kernel? I read about wifi problems on this kernel...
no no sofar
any issue applying the themes from webstar1's [ROM] Ultimate - v7.2 XWJS3, Truly ULTIMATE page one?
been waiting for call record to work and downloading now to flash.
Do the following work?
- Navigation.
- Notification of calls during navigation.
- Exchange & Gmail calendars sync.
- Full list of notification sounds.
Thanks.
nav yes for me.
notifi of call yes
exchange and gmail cal read the org post
full list if notfi sounds no
My dialer still has Video Call in it (although that may be from the Gingermix theme I added from the Ultimate thread). This ROM and tweak are nice. Call Recording is sweet. Themes from the Ultimate thread work.
GPS works. Even in my car when not under the windshield.
WiFi speeds are significantly faster.
Only issue I seem to have is the JPY Browser issues (No GIF, checkerboard, etc)
No Home haptic feedback either but that does not bother me as much as the browser issue.

Your theme most likely is the culprit of the home haptic and video call reference in the dialer. they are both switched when you apply a theme.

Downloading a i9000 w/ haptic fb theme that borguesian has posted now. Will update after it's applied.
**EDIT** The Ginger Mix V4 from the link above does add haptic feedback. Dialer still has video call, but I can live with that. But I just realized that the dialer does not have the Record Call button. D'oH!! Any links on how to add that back or modify the dialer? Want to remove the video call button and have the Record Call button.
**EDIT 2** applying the update-call recording-non ascending tone.zip http://db.tt/q0sfueP from the [DEV] Call recording on I-9000 thread re-adds the recording button to the applied them. Will report back if I have any weird issues applying random updates, lol.
I did get the GIF working in the browser by applying the di11i's browser fix near the bottom of the first post of his ROM thread.
I'm on launcherpro and my wallpaper wont change. I restored all data and apps using TiBu and now I can only change my wallpaper to a live one. That means I can either have a boring night time background, or a battery eating background. Any solutions?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
After changing the wallpaper, try restarting LP. I've had that happen to me, and restarting resolved it.
Thanks, that works but each time I want to change my wallpaper I have to restart it. Launcherpro is they only launcher I have so I don't want to uninstall it. Solution?

do a full wipe in recovery mode.
I had problems when I first flashed the org ultimate 7.2 from ultimate 5.
I wiped, and as soon as I restored via TiBu and the problem came right back. Is there another launcher I can use?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
EDIT: I rebooted into just cwm and rebooted WITHOUT doing anything, and it fixed the problem
funny,
wipe then restore fixed it for me.
Does your Ti backup have any systems files or settings backuped?
Mine doesn't I only backup apk's
try that only restore user data and apk's
as far as another launcher try adw but i dont think its the launcher.
I only have apk and user data backuped as far as I know, but right now it's working so I'm gunna leave it. Thanks though.

Well, neldar and morfic of xda have done it, there is now a working back light notification for the Nexus s! morfic has included it in his latest kernels, Honity12 and Honity14. but, you do need the BLN control market app to make it work. there is a free version and a pro version in the market, i recommend the pro version. it has much more options, including controlling the speed of the blink. heres a video demo of BLN on my nexus s--> http://goo.gl/tUcD6
also, heres morfics Honity thread, download links for the kernels are in the op--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973125

Cool it works. So pretty much we have to buy the pro version if we want it to be useful at all? Right now when I get a notification it turns on the button LEDs for like 2 seconds then turns off, and that's it, doesn't keep pulsing...
wait for this since i bought this phone now its perfect!!

yea, you do need the pro app to get the full features. on the free app, itll blink again(like every minute or so), just not right away.
thanks for the heads up! I guess it's time to change kernels for the first time for my nexus s. Didn't see the need to in the past, as I don't really need more speed.
backing up CM7_RC2 right now, and getting ready to flash the kernel and buy the BLN app
edit: sorry to go off topic, but does anyone know of anyway I can make notification sounds repeat like they did on NoLED?
can you control what icon will be shown
WOW sounds great
Question
Can i control it to the level that -
SMS will light the HOME botton
Mail will light the SEARCH botton
MISSED CALL will light both BACK & HOME bottons
??
Well, I'm using this kernel and it seems to be causing issues where the capacitive buttons are unresponsive on screen unlock. I think morfic is trying to fix this. I seem to have stumbled across a work around that I can't post on the developer thread(being "new" and all). Don't know whether anyone else has mentioned it.
If I leave the BLN test notification in my notification bar alone. Then the issue doesn't crop up any more and my buttons and BLN feature work fine.
Sorry, scratch that. That was a bit premature. The issue is back when I leave a notification unattended and lock my screen. My bad.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
sadly not for all nexus s user
I've found a bug with the kernel where if on keylock you touch the shortcut buttons. Once you do that they light up and it doesn't fade away, only happens when I take it out my pocket. Also sometimes the buttons when unlock done illuminate and aren't clickable resulting in a restart.
Has anyone else seen this? If not it might be down to my set up.
Same problems here. You might want to try morfics s10 BLN v3 test kernel.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
BLN is very buggy. when charging the phone and getting a notification it will cause the phone to freeze or reboot. Also when getting a notification and unlocking the phone the cap buttons will not always light. Locking and unlocking the phone will fix this problem but not always.
Even after uninstalling BLN, the cap button weirdeness persists. Only way to fix it is to restore from a backup or install a new ROM. I'm using CM7 11 w/ honity12 at stock speeds.
When BLN works its awesome. Hopefully they can fix these problems before I install it again.

Actually, what you need to do is use another kernel (which coincidentally happens when you restore a backup or install another ROM).
So does the backlight notification work if I just purchase the pro app from the market or do I need to install the kernel? I plan to install Og's kernel with voodoo features so I was wondering.. can multiple kernel be installed? No right?

You can only have one kernel at a time.
It's a pity it only works with some ROMs, I like to cook my own ones making them as tiny as possible, removing unused apps and changing ringtones and notification sound for my own ones
As long as you're basing your cooked ROM on a ROM that has a BLN-enabled kernel, you can use that kernel.
For example, if your ROM is basically a CM7 with some modifications, you can use any CM7-compatible kernel and it should work.

For now - this problems really deep inside. Video system in android 4 changed mostlly.
Wow, I knew that you wouldn't abandon us.
Edit: Just loaded it up. Really fast. Obviously, a lot of problems but nevertheless, really good start.

No wifi?
And an error kept popping up, in part english, part Korean, at every new screen, stating it will eliminate something.
So glad to have you back

It's awesome & sweet, man!
I was tried with CM9 but no luck and have not much time to play around with it. Now you are back with it, that great!
Thumb up & keep great working.
I will try it soon
Tried, and this is my experiences:
Good things:
- Speed is incredible fast with many apps I installed on last CM7.X
- Wifi, 3G works
- Home button not work (cannot go home by pressing Home button) EDITED: Home button is go with different behavior compared with GingerBread, so press & hold it to see list of recent & running app, this way it work for me
and many things work as expected.
and Bad things:
- Screen rotation is not work well: look it start to work but mostly forced in landscape mode (in launcher, app) some time it go portrait for dialing screen, error message ... I was unchecked auto rotation options but not help.
- Call not work for me, it go end nearly immediate after I press call.
- SMS not work, EDITED: work after reboot, may it has blocked by some overload operations.
- Net monitor through some exceptions due: /proc/net/xt_qtaguid/stats not exist, we need kernel module for this stuff.
- Cam not work (of course )
I don't see where to customize Cyanogen such as fast switch widget on notification bar, look like we are missing Cyanogen Settings
I have problem with IO schedule in CM7 and was remove dalvik-cache from list of app2ext startup script and it solved 50% of mine. I used `lsof` to see what's going to use /sdcard & /sd-ext and see that almost operations come from background apps like launcher, theme. I think we should avoid to use bind mount to SD's ext partition to get better speed. Also use `vmstat` command will see sometime 1-3 applications block IO process and it will cause IO wait almost full (about > 90).
Anyone face problem like me? and what's solution you guys was used to solve it?
Will try to tweak it and fix some buggy if possible, keep the good work guys!
I see some have offered to help with cm9 but I'm dispointed in these forms .
The first thing thats needs to be fixed are sensors.
The camera will be the hardest to fix.
I believe the defry has the same sensors as our xt can someone do a port for are xt.
The worked good for me but their seems to be battery drain.
I would like to see some team work on this cm9.
Thanks J.Y.Daddy for your help.

Anyone know the way to let android force display in portrait mode?
Currently sensors not work correctly then it always go landscape mode, it is weir.
I tried some prop in but no luck.
About sensors I tried one from CM-7.1 but no luck, look like ICS using different stuff for use sensors then fix in framework may help but I don't have time to check it out.

Un-check the box for: Settings --> Display --> Auto-Rotate Screen
Unless....of course....that is being overwritten by something in CM9.
I tried it already, unchecked auto rotate option in display setting & Trebuchet but no luck.

we can always use a 3rd party Camera App, if we can not fix the camera, right?
or are you referring to the kernel knowing there's a camera attached to the phone?

ICS changed the camera API significantly. I don't think anyone's figured out how to use the older libraries yet. Non-functioning camera is pretty common at the moment.
We really to find a fix for the sensors first then fix other things.

For camera, AFAIK we need to write a new kernel module for it as ICS is using HAL then we must have:
- /system/lib/modules/camera.ko
- /system/lib/hw/camera.sholes.so
EDITED: I've just tried with hw/camera.goldfish.so & camera.ko from MS2 then Camera app just loaded with colored box pinging, at least it not show "Cannot connect to Camera" message

I have stock, up-to-date Android 4.2.2.
I am trying to figure out why use CM10.1 or any other custom ROM over up-to-date stock Android Rom.
Well, for me I use stock and faux kernel @1.9ghz and I'm fine with it
Custom Roms add more features thou, I used to run aokp on my n7 but I prefer stock

Mainly for the customization, and certain features not found in stock roms.
It's an user preference really.

Like the idea of faux kernel with Stock rom.
Also for some more optimization, and little fixes of things that Google f**ked up in their stock Android

Here are the main features that are interesting to me:
- Built-in notification light control
- SMS bonus features (quick reply, original timestamps, etc)
- Volume rocker wake
- Navring (2 other shortcuts besides google now)
- Their cLock widget is nice
- Editable toggles / quick settings + quick pulldown (pulldown from right goes directly into toggles) LOVE IT
- Torch built in..
Downsides:
- The slide up animation of google now is not as smooth and sexy
- Old calendar app (WHY U NO REMOVE IT, it's on the play store!!) though it's practically the same

The source for the Play version isn't open though, so they build from the source that is available (i.e. the current CM calendar) and I their ultimate goal is to include what you need to operate a smart phone without absolutely requiring the addition of Gapps; although 99.999% of people ultimately do.

Yea probably the same reason why there is the "stock/modded" ICS browser (I know some people prefer it). They don't want preinstalled store apps in the rom, and such things as browser and calendar are basic features expected cooked in a ROM. PA does that though and it works well I think with no legal issue.
After trying several roms,I can say the top feature of nexus is the stock android and being uptodate instantaneous ,
So why you install a custom rom ? Sure it will not be stable as stock.
Customization can be dne through apk,I use
Exdialer.
Nova launcher
Sliding messages.
Tasker
Active screen lock , sometimes
Proximity screen off
Power toggle
I am using the latest version of Android, with the June 2017 security patch (my device is G4 Plus XT1640) rooted with magisk and xposed (just the module of the gravity box, and in magisk the viper4android module).
But something happens that bothers a lot, and this happens in the android since the early versions of its existence, which is the problem of interrupting the notifications after a time in standby (something that iOS never seen happen)
In my case, I wanted notifications of specific apps not to be interrupted (like WhatsApp, Instagram, Google+, etc.) but that's not the case, I know in version 7.0 Nougat, it has the battery optimization feature, where it manages to suspend application activities while it is in standby (or deep sleep), however, I deactivated battery optimization in applications that I wish not to be suspended, but it continues to suspend.
It may be until the system is not suspending the application, but the connectivity (in the case Wi-Fi) however in the Wi-Fi network settings I enabled it to not be suspended for inactivity, but even so I do not get notifications applications. I got to perform a test by sending a message on whatsapp to me after 20 minutes on standby, and it shows only one check instead of two check, when I unlock the screen, and open the application, the notifications appears all at once.
Is there a way (without requiring root resources or xposed modules) to resolve this problem? (Or is the solution only with root and xposed features?)
@AzuosDX I would recommend to uninstall Gravity Box and make sure you don't run applications like greenify or other doze apps like amplify. Please test again.

Well, the problem is that I can not go without using the features of the Gravity Box, because in it I use the resources of:
(Note: I did the test without the Gravity Box, and the delay stays the same)
* Modify the status bar (center the clock)
* Enable the download and upload consumption counter
* Customize navigation bar buttons (example: open WhatsApp with two touch, open the application drawer by holding the button, and etc.)
the Gravity Box I only use these features, and they do not directly affect the applications installed on the system, and I do not use any hibernation application, and even then I would not have them interfere if I enable specific apps to not be hibernated (just like I mentioned in the battery optimization part)
I think it's a problem in Kernel optimization apps, because I installed HEBF (an app that "promises" improved battery consumption, stability, smoothness in the system, etc.). And another app that is L-Speed, when I was using HEBF, I actually did some tests and I noticed that it does not interfere with the delay of notifications, but L-Speed is another story because after analyzing the application thoroughly, it can delay writes on the system, modify parts of the kernel responsible in standby (Kernel Sleepers) among other things.
The question is whether anyone else could use this same application to know if it really is the problem, because if other devices do not, then my device might be a combination of factors that lead to delay in notifications ( for example: Root + Xposed + L-Speed or Magisk + Xposed + L-Speed or HEBF + L-Speed and etc.)
I think I will reinstall the System Stock again, do everything like this now, but without using the L-Speed and HEBF customizations, and analyze if they really are the problem.
But is there any application that keeps other specific applications awake within the system? without hibernating them, or suspending them?
.
