Will foreign MEA flash change CSC? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After reading several threads on firmware updates, it is still not clear to me whether I can use a foreign MEA version or not. I have a Dutch unbranded 9505, CSC is PHN. Can I flash for instance the German DBT version without consequences and without the risk of changing the CSC? Is it exactly the same version as the Dutch, not yet available version will be? And can I suffice with a dirty flash?
Oops, wrong thread, sorry. Can a mod move this to Q&A? Thanks!

Still no 4.1 for The Netherlands.

Hi,
I have a wifi note 10.1 and while everyone has gotten 4.1, here in the Netherlands still no update.
I still find it strange how they can update so many countries and leave others in the dark.
Who has yet to receive the update and which country?

left in the dark?
find the light
and install german/wwe 4.12 and multiwindow app and
never wait for samsung again!
i was tired of waitin' and fixed it myself.:silly:
Its weird that the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Camera didnt get an Jelly Bean update here in the Netherlands. I wonder why Samsung is so slow rolling out the JB update for the Note 10.1.......
But like dutchxxl said, just flash the German JB update.
Nothing here in Australia - n8010 wifi, but i am rooted and flashed 4.1.2 so stuff Samsung Australia.
I have also nl note 10 i chang the rom to DBT germany now i have 3 update 4.1.1 than 4.1.2 today new 4.1.2
also with note n7000 i have germany DBT 4.0.4 ics with latste s3 TW rom
my friend has nl note n7000 is still on 4.0.3

Can i change a Dutch galaxy note 10.1 wifi to german rom. Or do i get a bricked galaxy note just by changing the original area code
Kind regards
Have a Dutch Note 10.1 wifi myself, with ICS 4.0.4 (initial LG4, July 2012 release!!!!!!) and still not had a single update. Was tired seeing a lot of countries with multiple updates and not a single one for my device. Flashed the German 4.1.2 release using Odin. No problem. Only flashed the rom and didn't change any other setting or code. After booting was finished right after flashing I did a hard reset and started from scratch. I didn't restore any backup (only Google)

Just flash the latest German N8010 firmware via Odin, you'll be fine. Ive already tried the one from Korea, Chille and Germany and I've flashed a lot of firmwares via Odin with my Galaxy S2 and S3 and never bricked my device.
No Australia love +1
You are not the only country.
I still dont get why its not available.
1.its been tested and seems to work. Some countries are even getting newer updates, like Germany.
2.its been downloaded by many already, so the pressure on the update servers are down. So thats not a reason either.
To my understanding all note 10.1 wifi are about the same, so I dont see any reason why this is taking so long.

Another month without a Dutch 4.1.x release. If I hadn't flashed a German rom my 10.1 wifi still would run the factory 4.0.4 rom of july 2012 without a single update.
I was just checking...still no updates. Whats taking so long?

I know some of you guys are nervous about loading s/w on your device not received directly from Samsung. But there are EU ROM's that seem to be coming out monthly and all are multi-CSC (customer sales code) and have all the EU CSC's in them making them fully compatible with any EU-sourced Note 10.1. After using Odin to update your device it will still be "official" should you ever need Samsung to service it. So I can understand your apprehension but it's a shame some of you are stuck on a seven-month old ICS ROM when you needn't be.
Here's a link to the latest (February) UK N8010 ROM which has all the EU CSC's in it. It’ll take you no more than 15 minutes from start-to-finish to apply it and it won’t erase or change any of your apps, settings, or data.

Help ALB CSC

I have galaxy s4 i9505 and after region changing my csc is ALB, i can't get updates. What can i do? It is multi-csc... Region SEB, but CSC ALB.
So I will not get updates?
Hi
I had the same problem, I don't know why it happens.
I also have GT-I9505 and at first I had mismatch of PDA and CSC, my PDA was ME2 and CSC was BTU so Kies told me it doesn't support my firmware and thus I couldn't get updates. That was on android 4.2.2.
Then I installed the DBT (android 4.3) stock rom of Germany but when I entered Kies the CSC was still BTU and didn't change even after a factory reset so again I couldn't get updates, not via Kies nor OTA. Afterwards, I installed at last the BTU stock rom and everything was OK.
The Kies no longer told me that my firmware is unsupported and I received the MK8 update a week ago and gonna receive the new update which was released yesterday in a few days. Moreover, I forgot to mention that the Knox flag wasn't tripped after installing the BTU rom.
My suggestion is you install the rom which matches the CSC of your device because the CSC doesn't change after installing a stock rom so you have to adapt yourself to the CSC.

You can try flashing (via Odin) the new update which was released two days ago (MKE).
It was released for Germany and France for now but soon will be rolling to everyone.
I'm almost sure it won't trip the Knox flag if you do everything right.

Yeah that's an option also.
Also, did you try factory reset after the installation? If not, do it. It sometimes helps, in my case it didn't help to change the CSC to DBT when I installed the German rom.
I hope Kitkat will arrive soon to our devices. I can't wait to see the improvements and how did they change the TW.

[Q] Orange (FTM) ML3 4.3 to (DBT) MB7 4.4.2

Hi ive got a couple of questions. Currently im on Orange France ML3 4.3 FTM csc full stock and i want to flash 4.4.2 NB7 DBT but i would like the csc to change to DBT so i can continue receive OTA updates and be recognised by Kies, so here are my questions:
1) Will Odin give me SUCCESS or FAIL ?
2) Do i have to flash it with .pit file?
3) Will the CSC change to DBT after i wipe/factory reset?
Thanks in advance

There is no changelog as you guys know.
Probably security and bug fixes, i don't expect any huge changes.
I be back with kernel build info later today.
Just saw this update.
I have an Italian N7100 and flashed over the France kit kat firmware (N7100XXUFND3) via odin, when it was first released.
Now, the new f/w is not available when checking for updates from my phone (not rooted). It says "latest updates already installed".
Shouldn't I get an update (N7100XXUFNE1) taken into consideration that my phone currently has the previous XEF f/w ?

Not if the CSC doesn't match the country your FW is for.
I am in a similar situation, I live in Italy and I have a Note II from Germany (DBT), Kies would always automatically alert me of new firmwares and download them for me (even though my Note is rooted), now that I have flashed a French FW Kies doesn't do that anymore (it would if I changed the CSC to France but that would wipe the Note so I am obviously not doing that).
The onboard FOTA SW (for you that are not rooted) works exactly like Kies, the CSC must match the FW or it wouldn't see new updates.
No big deal really...
Simply download the French update and flash it via Odin (which is what I am doing right now), it's a Kies FW so it will not wipe the Note.

Nope, that's just the FW, the Country Sale Code of your Italian Note II is ITV (unless you bought it from a carrier, then it would have a different CSC for each one of them, and each of them would receive only its own updates).
You used to be able to check and change it by inputting *#272*Phone’s IMEI Here# in the dialer but I don't think that works anymore. there are now apps that do that (remember that changing it will wipe the smartphone).
Try *#1234# instead and see what it shows.

That's still just the FW. Apps like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo should show your smartphone's (not the FW's) Country Sale Code (and allow to change it, and you need root too).

Ye MobilOdin cant reboot on some devices with custom rom.
You can still flash a revovery via MobilOdin and manuell reebot the phone.
Then flash a different rom via recovery (like a stock deodexed one)
Then use MobilOdin to flash N7100XXUFNE1.

changing csc without rooting

I just bought a note 3 for my dad but it came with UAE csc (United arab emirates) and nd2 software build. Is there anyway to change the csc to btu or dbt safely, without rooting? It's not necessarily a must since he is not an avid technology user and probably wouldn't notice anything different anyway, it's mostly for my own peace of mind.

No Its not possible without rooting just cf auto root easiest root for note 3
sure you can. you just need to load the BTU firmware via odin. no root is needed.
and if you want to root, just you towelroot. it will not trip your knox.

Depends on your firmware.
I teach people to upgrade their 4.3 N900W8 to 4.4.2 and the procedure includes getting the CSC changed.
