As in pertaining to accessing the LTE network, no. LTE and WiMAX are totally different network architectures, our phone would need a hardware fix if it were to access LTE.

There will never be a hardware fix. It requires an entirely different chipset with a new antenna. There is abolsutely no chance of gaining LTE on current phones.
Sprint shoulda went LTE.... WIMAX WTF LOL

According to a couple of articles I read a while ago stated Sprint could update their network to LTE with a software change and all the phones needed was a firmware update to be compatible with LTE but I'm not an expert in those fields, so I really can't comment if that's true or not

Woops! Sorry, I was thinking you were talking about the other MHz.
Anyone m know of any way to check this
Sent from my Nexus 4
I tried searching it for you but it's a dead end.
Since the Nexus 4 can detect the 1900mhz band, then I can conclude if that frequency is available then the phone will switch to that frequency.
Haven't tried this but came across it recently:

* Fix FC when forcing Nexus 4 to specific radio band via *#*#4636#*#* dialer code.
At the least you could force it to PCS1900 if you wanted to do testing.
Don't have a link to the original thread where dude got it working.

You need a ROM that has the fix for band selection merged. I'm pretty sure PA has the fix. Try that.

CM10.1 hasn't included the fix yet. PA is Paranoid Android Rom. You can try this one as suggested above, it's CM with only a few minor changes.

The newest rom had that mod. Antigen by venum its sweet no problems so far
If you change last three letters of your you built props line ro.product.name.jfltespr to att for the icon im using which is att. Or tmo for tmobile. Vzw for verizon lte sybols all these are built in the phone reboot and enjoy. Works on stock and everything else
Rom toolbox is what I use to change built props its very easy to use.

Yes you are correct. These build prop edits do what you say. But as I understood the op he wanted the 4g icon to say ONLY LTE. Those edits will not do that... maybe I misundertood what he was asking. In any event, in my rom I edited the actual icons to say only "LTE" while on 4G without needing to change the build.prop which the average user doesnt really know how to do (although it is in fact, easy). Either way he has his answer...:good:
I would like for it to say 4G LTE but LTE alone is fine if no 4G LTE is available.

What @Joe0113 posted the link should help you get that icon. But just watch out when downloading something that reads build.prop because it might think you have that variant but you actually have a sprint variant.
