[Q] ROM - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
I am new to the Nexus 4
And I did some thing wrong while I was flashing some apps now my nexus 4 keep lagging and Now I want to format it all
So I was wondring Should I FLASH the stock ROM or get a custom ROM?
And If I should get a custom ROM which one should I install ?
I want a ROM that have no problems and can deep sleep and a smoth one can I find such a ROM?
Please hellp me chose some thing good :silly:
Thanks

Custom roms do not have anything to do with deep sleep. Use whatever you like. Test out each rom and see for yourself.

I second this. It sounds like you have an alarm/partial wakelock causing this. The Better Battery Stats will help you determine whats wrong.

Thanks for the Replay but can you tell me what is the best room with less problems?

Read, read and then read some more... Try some ROMs and evaluate for yourself.
There is no "best" ROM... there are only ROMs that suit you best.
For all the other ROMs, there are only opinions... and everyone has one of them.

[Q] Can you install a custom kernel and a custom rom on a Nexus 7?

I wanted to get Elite kernel and Paranoid Android rom on my Nexus 7. Is that possible? If so, how could I do that?
First you have to ask yourself why? Do you even know what a ROM and Kernel is? Do you know how to control both? Seeing you are a really new member i would ride the stock train for a while. Maybe learn how to flash a custom recovery and root manually Then you can move on to ROM flashing. Once you get the hang of that move on to choosing a kernel you deem appropriate. Also i wouldnt just flash whatever one else flashes and says is the "best." Thats not always the right way for yourself.
If you have to ask, then you probably shouldn't be treading where there be dragons, to borrow a phrase.
The short and sweet answer to your query is that pairing a 4.1.1 kernel with a 4.1.2 rom is going to result in a boot loop-

There are not 2 sub-forums that talk about nothing but development for the Nexus 7.
There are no how-to guides anywhere.
So no; it is impossible to put a custom rom or kernel on the Nexus 7.

Look in the thread of Elite kernel to see what roms it supports. If it doesn't mention your ROM, [ParanoidAndroid--which btw is a good rom, I use it] you could reply to the thread and ask if it's compatible with the latest paranoidandroid [2.5].
Also worth mentioning the stock kernel is not bad.. especially for android newbies. [I use stock PA kernel--now--but I'm not a n00b though!]

Mate such questions are purely subjective so please refrain from asking em !
no one can suggest you the best rom or kernel you should try out each of then on your own to know what best fits you

Try different things, best is different for everyone.

ROM: i recommend u to flash CM10 or AOKP as the first choice. if u want fully customizable one, try ParanoidAndroid.
Kernel: if u don't need overclocking, i recommend Franco. but of course its your choice
Open box, remove tablet, turn on, setup, play, win. No ROM/Kernel required. Google got one right.

Thank you all!

Best ROM & Kernel?

Hey guys , was wondering what's the best rom and kernel for the Nexus 4? Something that increases my battery life but retains the original jellybean style interface etc. I'd prefer to keep all my original jellybean features!
Thanks

best rom/kernel threads arent allowed on xda
theres no such thing as a best rom or kernel, there is only the best rom/kernel that suits your needs and the best rom/kernel that your device likes. you have to try out different rom/kernel combinations to find what you and your phone like best, only this way will you ever find the best rom/kernel for you.

[Q] Suggestion on which ROM to use.

Hi guys.
I'm in a great dilemma right now.
I like TW but almost all custom kernels are giving me reboots every now and then. :/
Right now I'm using Adam Kernel which doesn't reboot on me, but I need more, like voltage control etc.
So I'm considering either using an AOSP or Google Edition ROM.
Because there are TONS of ROM's out there I'll need your help.
I'm looking for a ROM which:
A) Is completely stable and has little to no bugs.
B) Is not lagging on games, because I game a lot on my S4.
If I'm gonna use a custom kernel I'll definitely need another ROM.
Also I don't care if it's 4.2.2 or 4.3, as long as it's stable and get the job done right.
Anyway, can you suggest some ROM's based on my needs?
Thanks!
Anyone?
Come on, just post the name of the ROM if you're bored!

Best Kernel/Rom threads are forbidden on XDA , this will get closed soon.
And if you can't handle any kernel without reboots except for Adam Kernel (which is pretty much stock) then that tells me your cpu cant handle undervolting mate
Omega if you want a stable TW experience with some customization, MIUI if you want a completly new and awesome experience but can tolerate some issues popping up.
I run MIUI atm

First of all, this isn't a "best rom" thread, this is a thread for suggesting a good rom based on my needs.
Also I've had reboots without undervolting so your argument is a bit invalid I'm afraid.
Anyway, If you're not going to help I'd suggest you stop spamming the thread because I'm aware of the xda rules.
Thanks.
Echoe or WanamLite.
Have tried a quite a few roms atm using echo rom and ausdim v11 kernal. Stable fast and great battery life. GE roms are great. I recommend reading through the threads and choosing the first thing that grabs your eye. Enjoy

Guys, thanks for the help but I'm on Omega and don't want to switch to another TW rom.
I'm looking only for AOSP/AOKP/GE ROM's.
Thanks!

A "pick the best rom for me" thread is still a best rom thread. IBTL

My opinion about the custom roms are:-you will lose warranty, if the rom is not developed for your device you will
brick your phone.. But if you succed you will enjoy the custom roms.. Also check for bugs for that rom.. if you don't want ti have headache.. sorry for my english

You start by identifying your phone model and start reading and learning the basics. There are countless guides. There are a lot of Q&A threads.
Asking for the best rom is not allowed, because there is no best rom, try it out for yourself.

I used a app to root it but when i try to udate SuperSU it fails so i don't know if there is some type of feature on the phone thats blocking it or not....
U can see, read and learn here its help full, www.galaxys4root.com if it will help, get bak to once.. Thnks ?
