Has anyone had an issue where Chrome stops rendering pages on the tabs? It looks like it loading and it loads blank pages. The only way I have been able to get it to work again is to force stop chrome and clear the cache, seems to be some issue loading pages after its been used for a little bit.
I use Task650 AOKP with Ktoonsez Kernel.. I havent quite been able to isolate what the issue is.

Which is better? and for what reasons
Skyfire has flash
Opera is faster
Opera is way better for everything other than porn. I have both installed on my HD2 but Opera gets used for just about everything, then IE for the odd site which comes up with the mobile version on Opera.....and Skyfire around 1% of the time.
I found skyfire a bit annoying couldnt change my hope page on it, also wouldnt play any sound whilst in youtube
I use sky fire for flash content and to watch youtube videos without having to open up the separate application. opera for everything else and for everyday browsing. opera has ben optimized on this phone while I find sky fire still has a lot of bugs that need to be ironed out such as slow pixilated scrolling and some pages not opening at all. if speed is your main concern, sky fire is faster if the page you're looking for opens. altogether, I really have no complaints about opera on this phone besides its lack of flash capability while at times sky fire has me frustrated and resorting back to opera when its pages fail to load. I have both saved to my quick links as I find I use both very often.
Opera is faster indeed. But for me, Opera freezes alot.
I got the fixoperaflash update, so maybe thats causing the problems.
It happens alot when zoomed in and panning around sites, with some java or flash stuff on screen.
Anyone else got this problem?
Hey folks ... first post, and I did try to search for this but came up with nothing.
Wondering if there's a fix or workaround for this. Some pages, when I load them, are not resized correctly for the browser. I would post a link, but ... you can google search for "best of the web today" and the first match is a page that does this wrong-resize behavior.
While it's loading, it is sized correctly. But once it completes loading, it resizes and it's too wide, so I have to scroll horizontally to read it.
This is just one example, but there are many pages that do this.
If I stop the page load before it's 100%, then it stays sized correctly for the browser (well, the block indents still run off the right side, but this seems to be true for every single thing that has block indents). So something that happens when it completes the loading is the problem. FWIW stopping it at like 95% doesn't seem to affect the content.
Any of you seen this, or know how to get around it? It's becoming quite annoying.
have you tried an alternate browser?
no ... is there an alternate browser that 1. doesn't embed ads and 2. supports flash?
tried it in skyfire, same problem.
flash isn't supported with android except the new 2.2 froyo build. even then, most official froyo builds haven't been released. there is a froyo build for the aria built from cyanogen mod source, but flash hasn't been figured out yet.
a lot of people like dolphin browser. opera mini is pretty popular as well.
@mattbollenbach, I think the OP may have meant "FlashLITE support", one of the nicer HTC features, if you ask me. I don't know if there are other browsers that support HTC's FlashLITE, but it shouldn't take too much to test that out.
Personally, the only thing that annoys me about the browser is when I load it, google is my homepage and it never displays correctly... haha, always way to big for the screen. Obviously, this is nothing more than the tiniest of gripes.
Hard to explain in the title with a few words, but both stock browser and dolphin are not saving in memory. Just upgraded to 11.0 CyanogenMod last night from 10.2.
Example: So if navigate to a webpage and it loads, then I hit the home button and go to my email, then come back to the browser, the webpage I was previously on is gone and the browser basically reloads and goes to my home page. My old version of CM kept the webpage in memory so I could always pick up where I left off. Same basic thing with Dolphin browser, except it remembers the last page but still has to reload it. Both browsers have default settings.
Other apps, like Google Maps and Gallery, remember where I was last time I exited the app. I can click on them and they come back up from where I left off before. This leads me to believe its related to the browsers only, which doesn't make sense to me.
One other side note... if I close an app, there is a half second refresh of my home screen as if its reloading it again and not saving it in memory. Kinda weird and maybe its related? My older version didn't have these issues. Any ideas I can try?
Update.
Flashed paranoid Android and everything working perfectly. No idea what happened with cm but something wasn't installed right on the system level. Mods can close this thread as solved.
Has anyone noticed a painfully slow lag when using Chrome to browse on the s7 Edge. I I've deleted cache and data, to no avail. Flashfox works fine.
My chrome is terrible, i've done all you have done too and it is still terrible. I can use the stock browser with no problems.
Stock browser is most smooth yes. Chrome is kind of choppy on this phone from time to time.
I rooted it and installed adaway.
Installed chrome beta, now its alot better
Stock takes 2-3 seconds to load a big page, chrome would take 6-7 seconds, that is not worth even using to me.
Chrome drains my battery a lot (continue active in background), I just uninstalled it.
Also had really bad performance on Chrome. It runs a lot better on my iPhone 6s Plus than on my edge
Ah Polly if you have a lot of tabs open for sure but I would just use a better browser. Unless you use chrome to sync between your computer and your phone. I use UC browser. Pretty good speed and video downloading and etc..
I'm using RSBrowser, which is basically chrome but optimized for an SD820. Some of us (Verizon) don't have the stock browser.
use stock browser with ad-block fast..it`s seriously faster then my desktop pc browser! chrome is really bad IMO.
Just wanted to chime in and say Chrome on the S7 is terrible. I mean absolutely abysmal. A page with an embedded video basically locked up the whole browser. And scrolling is so choppy it makes you want to throw your phone away. Stock browser is awesome and smooth, but it lacks crucial plugin support.
I don't use Chrome since quite a few months ago. It has become one of the slowest mobile browsers around. But even FireFox is slow, not sure why. The stock browser is blazing fast though, and that is enough for me (it also supports ad blockers since recently).

I was having the same issue with Chrome on my S7 Edge (mainly the device taking 7-8 seconds to load up any page), but I finally found the culprit!
I disabled 'Safe Browsing' ('Settings' > 'Privacy') and it's flying. Pages load instantly now.
Give it a try and let me know if it helps!

Hmm...this seems to have helped a bit.

This made a huge difference, but still thinking of switching to Firefox. Chrome is starting to get bloated and crashing on all my devices.
Asked this in the Android help forum but reposting here in case its a GS5-specific issue somehow.
I have a Galaxy S5 (G900F) running official Samsung Marshmallow ROM, rooted with CF-Autoroot.
A short while back I found that on certain website (https://www.animenewsnetwork.com) Chrome would lock up for about 30 seconds with constant CPU usage by the sandboxed process every time when visiting the site or trying to change article list view type on the site. Clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome did not solve the problem. I am not sure if other websites were less smooth than they could have been otherwise but the problem was only especially apparent when trying to access the main page of this site.
Oddly the same problem would occur with any other browser that used Webview such as Lightning or Relay for Reddit's internal browser, but did not occur with Samsung's browser, and did not occur with Firefox. It also occurred with Chrome Beta and Chrome Dev. Disabling hosts file based ad blocking did not solve the problem either.
Eventually, after a full factory reset, the problem is no longer present, and Chrome is fully responsive when accessing this site again. My question is what could possibly have caused the problem in the first place, that causes Chrome and webviews to lock up when trying to render or re-render this page that isn't solved by reinstalling Chrome, so that I can avoid the problem in the future?
