I can't seem to send an SMS. Message sending failed pops up each time i try to send a message. This has been happening on every ROM. I always wipe dalvik, cache, data and system before flashing a ROM. Tried wiping from stock recovery as well. Any solutions other than flashing an sbf?
Thanks
Operator issue, or wrong baseband. One of these must be the cause

hmm i'm using the right baseband. Never had this problem until about a week ago. And the SMSC number is also fine. Checked with the operator.
EDIT: Working now. Tried with another sim of the same operator, which worked. Switched back to mine and it was back to normal. Not sure what was wrong exactly.

Need help with annoying on going problem with"Preparing Network Notification" in status bar on any TW Rom I flash for, It's been gping on for about a month now (MF9 or MJA) Always clean install/flash.
symptoms are:
NO Data on CDMA/LTE mode. Data will turn on in CDMA mode only.
Cannot "Update Profile" from Settings in any network mode, when I try to update profile I get a pop up that reads"session already in progress, please try again later"
Things I have tried to fix problem with no solution are:
wipe cahe/dalvik cahe after Rom boots up.
Fix permissions in recovery.
I used Odin to reset to stock MF9 -[ROM][ODIN]SPH-L720 MF9 (MF9 Modem/Kernel/Bootloader/ROM-Rooted) from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486134
Called Sprint they did Dialer Code ##72786# to reset, it rebooted the phone, then it should have performed hands free activation***Hands free activation never came up.
So I'm stuck with 3G only, anytime I flash a new TW ROM.
The Funny thing is, If I restore my TW ROM Back-Up from Recovery or Flash PacMan(AOSP) everything works fine.
I appreciate the help.
I had the same problem last week. Ended up getting a replacement phone under warranty as Sprint said it's a phone problem. My MSID kept changing on its own.

I recently had some issues with my GPS so I used Odin to go back to stock firmware, everything was still ok after this and my GPS was back to working order. Then I used CF auto root to root my device again/use TWRP recovery. Then I flashed the latest PAC nightly and gapps with seemingly no problems. The phone worked fine for 2-3 days until one day when it was in my pocket I got a warning saying something along the likes of "SIM card has been removed. Reboot required." Rebooting would make the sim come back online momentarily until it would randomly come back up. There didn't seem to be any correlation with any new apps I had installed or things I did on my phone to cause this error. I thought perhaps it was the ROM so I tried reflashing (complete with factory wipe) and the problem still happened. I also tried wiping factory->system->cache&dalvik before reflashing..again it worked but only briefly. I tried going back to stock but it still happens. Right now I'm running task650s aokp and it still comes up..the sim works in other phones no problem. Any ideas on what might be going on/how to fix this issue?

Ugh, I've been flashing since the HTC Touch Elf but I'm finally stuck.
I was using Bobcat, but it wasn't keeping the 3g when the screen turned off, post v13. So I flashed Phoenix which had a troubleshoot for that - which I followed and it worked. Flash the new modem zip using Odin. Thing is, without realising I didn't allow it to finish. I booted up and 3g remained connected fine, so "obviously" it worked, though I never tried to call in or out last night.
I got a voice mail this morning and found I couldn't hear anything during a call - which took forever to connect. Figuring a slow rom, I downloaded and flashed Foxhound - still no calls. So I try the modems again, letting it sit for a few extra minutes until Odor says Pass. But it still doesn't work... It's also quite slow, as Phoenix was.
Any help?
Flash the stock rom again via odin.
Get the stock rom from sammobile

Not what I'd like to do, but I'll give it a try. Downloading now.
I've done it and it still doesn't work. And the camera also doesn't work... Although the camera thing only started after I flashed the I9505XXUFNC9_GSM_LTE_Modems. Not sure that would be the reason for it to work or not, but that's what happened.
I've tried the above modems and I9505XXUFNB9_GSM_LTE_Modems, flashing other firmware in recovery and reflashing the original firmware using Odin.
Have I completely naffed my phone?
Oh, and also the wifi doesn't work since returning it to EE's latest firmware...
Nobody have any ideas?
I had a similair problem. I assume you are still on the old bootloader?
This is what I did:
1. Full wipe in cwm
2. Advanced wipe > wipe /system (this will wipe everything, so it also wipes your sd card).
3. Flash the phoenix rom
4. Flash the modem (I use MJ5)
5. Make sure the modem actually flashed. Check it in settings > general > phone information.
That did the trick for me. Make sure you have proper backups and also a good backup of your efs.
As I didn't have Wifi I had to install Clockworkmod Recovery via Odin. So I wiped everything, but the option was to wipe Cache, wipe System and wipe data. There was also wipe data and data/ (SD card), but I didn't do that one as I don't think the problem was down to the memory card. I flashed Foxhound, as that's what was on my memory card already, put the XXUFNC9 modem on using Odin and booted up. It now connects to 3G and wifi.
However, I tried to call my house and it took about 30 seconds to connect, then when my wife picked up neither of us could hear each other. So it still doesn't work...
When going into download mode, it doesn't say anything about Knox, so yes I'm on the old bootloader still. I don't have a backup of my efs, but I have a complete backup of everything from using Titanium Backup before I tried flashing away from Bobcat.
I noticed something very strange. When I go to About and Phone Information, the phone number shown isn't my number. The number that showed up on the house phone was my correct phone number. Is this related?

I had the same problem as you had. The procedure that I descriped fixed them for me. My guess is there are some files on your sd card that somehow interfere.
I will try doing the same again, but with a different formatted memory card.
Flashed the new bootloader, problem solved.
Up until now I had a Galaxy S4 running omega ROM with a custom kernel (can't remeber which) and every so often I experianced a SIM card remove and needed to reboot - the other day, my mom decided to switch cellular compeny, and I recieved a new SIM - It all worked fine, until the next day I got an invalid SIM error and the phone was not usable - So I decided I would return to stock incase it would help or atleast it will return the warranty and allow me to let someone else fix it.
I followed a certain guide in this forum in order to return it to stock, and when the phone booted up - I got a "process.android.acore has stopped working error" - constantly flashing - making the phone unusable.
I wiped the cache and dalvik cache and did a factory reset, and formated every mount on my galaxy - and reflahed the stock firmware - and it fixed it - but now I have a "Samsung keyboard has stopped working" error - making me unable to text ever (tried clearing the app cache and data -didn't work) - and it also shows up when I don't use the samsung keyboard.... and there is the invalid SIM thing... I am stuck and have no Idea how to fix this thing... so... any suggestions?

Hi,
I would recommend you to make a factory reset, flash another stock rom as your current one and then wipe again. Maybe your rom was damaged when you downloaded it.

Ok, I managed to download another keyboard and it fixed it... I still think it needs a better fix... I managed to get it to recognise the SIM, but it is not stable and stable - and goes away until I play with it - turning device on and off, wiping cache.
As the title states.
I do not believe this issue happened while on stock, though I have had the phone for just two days. I have tried returning to stock but the issue persists.
I installed Paranoid Android 4.6, and while I was able to get LTE upon starting up, as soon as I restarted the phone I was getting no signal. The issue also occurs during the installation of the "Mahdi" rom. I am using the VS980 roms, not a Tmobile rom.
While looking at the "signal" page, the carrier changes from "T-Mobile" to unkown every few seconds, until stopping on "T-Mobile" after a very very long time. I believe I have the correct APN settings because it does eventually connect to T Mobile LTE.
I have tried different modems also. I tried the 24a modem which did not work on anything, and the 11a and 12b modems. My process of installation was wiping dalvik, system, cache, and data. Installed the new modem, installed rom, installed gapps.
Would flashing everything back to stock resolve this issue?
