Help me find ROM, forgot the name - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello.
I've been using this certain ROM for quite a while now, and today I decided to try other roms for my HD2, while not making backup of this one that I had used. Not being satisfied with any of the roms I tried, I decided to go back to the old one, just to realize I have no backup of it, nor I know the name. So I need help finding it. I've tried a lot and this one was the most responsive/fastest/most stable one for me, so help is greatly appreciated.
Now, to the things I remember about it, hopefully someone will recognize which rom I'm talking about. It was pretty minimalistic, it was nothing fancy like most of the popular roms now. Came with a greyish stone wall like home wallpaper, there was no google search widget at the top of the screen by default (most roms have that, as far as I noticed), had 5 icons (shortcuts) in the very bottom of the screen, all grayish/whitish. There was 3 home screens you could scroll around with by default, and also the same way you could've scrolled those 5 shortcuts. When nothing was assigned to the shortcut, like when you first scrolled to the next screen, there was a plus sign (+) of the same color as all other. I'm not sure but I think the internet browser shortcut had something like a detective's head silhouette (like a side shot). Could've been a globe, too, looked like a head to me.
The battery levels showed in percentages in the upper right of the screen (without the % sign), with white dots around the white number (percentage) matching the percentage showed. The messaging was set up so it was divided in threads, and each thread looked the simplest it actually could. It said "Me: <my message>" for my sms and had the same format for the other person in thread (in new row, of course), all went left to right, no fancy iphone ballons showing me on the right side, them on left. And it had time stamps underneat the messages. By default only time for today, and date (without timestamp) for any other day.
If I can provide any more information, please let me know. Thanks for reading, hopefully someone knows what rom this is about. I'm not sure how I got to that rom, but I'm guessing it was popular at some time (maybe still is) since it worked flawlessly. Even if it reminds you of some rom that isn't this one for sure, let me know.
Edit: Remembered something, it's big I think. On boot, that animated screen containted while we wait to boot looked like a cube, rotating and disappearing, as if it was made of water, like spilling in the air, or sprinkling. Also not sure, I think it had a letter H on each side of the cube. Also, I'm willing to bet it was gingerbread build.

How I made my phone sexy...

I hated my phone. I think that MS doesn’t know how to make a phone feel like a phone. That's my opinion and you know what they say about opinions... Anyway, thanks to the work of some fantastic programmers, I have gotten my phone to where it feels a little nicer. On to what I did.
I wanted to tackle making the phone prettier to use. I don’t like how the today screen background doesn't act as the background of the phone app. I think that's stupid. For fixing this, I downloaded a few dialer skins from Zombienexus. (http://www.zombienexus.net/portal/GH_ShowArticle.asp?HID=35&CATID=1|2|3|4|5|6|7|8|9|10|11|12) I'm not sure who this person is, but his dialer replacement is fantastic. I chose the "Springwood_BlackBars" theme. It's a dim picture taken of a rain forest. Looks really nice. Nice and professional. This took care of my today screen and my phone dialer. Now, both have a good (great) background.
Next up. I hate my contacts. I can't mash a letter corresponding to my contact's last name with my finger. My fingers are too fat. I don't like using the stylus for doing this because phones don’t' require stylus.... enter Contact Manager v0.10 (http://www.pocketcm.com). The guy that created this is freaking awesome. It's a contact app that pulls from your list of contacts and puts them into a list that makes them easy to select with a finger. If you drag your finger down, the list will spring down and continue scrolling with this elastic effect. If you drag your finger down one side of the screen or the other, a little tab will pop up following your finger from top to bottom with each letter of the alphabet in it starting with "a" at the top and "Z" at the bottom. Where you stop is where the list scrolls to, nice animation and all.
Now, this contacts manager is kind of plain looking off the bat. But, the creator gives you an ini file to customize. After thoroughly tweaking the ini, I now have my today screen background (the springwood) as the background behind my contacts. Though, in words this may not sound like much, but in practice, the phone is freaking sweet now. the only other thing I did, was use a softkey tweak (http://www.pocketpctweaks.com/pocketpc_tweaks/change_softkey_buttons.html) so that my contacts softkey invokes the new contactmanager app.
I wish I had screen shots of what my phone looks like. Showing it to friends has convinced them that wm5 phones CAN look like ... phones.
I'd love to see somebody "can" all three of these things together. I think a program that allows you to set the background for all three places would be very nice... What's best, all of the pieces I used are free (but, be sure and donate, these guys really out did themselves with this stuff).

NOTE: Contacts manager is a little funky when in landscape mode. It works, but display is a bit "off" and "tabs" no longer work. (but, who uses their phone in Landscape mode?)

After installing the update from TMO, The little bar that flips between mail, home, internet, images, music, etc. "shrinks" into a little black tab in the middle of my screen at the bottom.
This is super super annoying because it takes an extra effort to click on the damn thing and then slide my finger to scroll. This also requires a second tap on the screen when i go to browser because the first one simply 'collapses' the little thing and the second one will actually respond to the internet icon you're tapping on.
Tell me there's a way to turn off the collapse of this stupid thing. I tried looking on here but I don't know what keywords to use to search this out. Something like 'htc sense update hd2 registry change' yields nothing.

It sounds to me like you have cookies home tab enabled?! That is strange are you sure you didn't flash to a custom rom?! I have that one my phone and I have the update but the only way I was able to get that was with CHT. I have attached examples.
Yep! I do have cookies home tab installed! Dang..so is the setting in that to change it? :bangs head:

I also have Cookies, and didn't know about that.
Now I have just enabled that feature. Why? I don't find that "ribbon" at the bottom very useful, as it is not very customizable. Nice to have the settings button there at the right, but one can also do that with a Quick Link. I like the music app, but one can also do a quick link for that. Withouth that ribbon, there is room for another row of quick links. (I find it unfortunate that that "ribbon" is so uncustomizable. You cannot choose what is in it, but only what to remove (other than settings and home). (I don't really need that home icon either, because there is a hardware button for home.) I don't like how that "People" tab goes to "HTC People". I'd rather go straight to the regular contacts list. But it can't be changed (AFAIK), only removed.
So by retracting it, I remove the whole thing (can slide it back if I want), but can put the links I like in that ribbon into quick links, for which there is now more room.

New home screen manager

Someone needs to develop a new home screen manager. One that instead of just moving left to right moves up and down as well. This way screens are always just one flick away instead of 2 or more depending on where you are at. It would be like a cube where the main homescreen is in the middle and the other 4 screens would each be in a direction (up, down, left, right). Moving from one of those screens in a direction (up, down, left, right) would result like moving from the home screen. So more than just a cube. A little more complex. I'll develop it if someone can help me along. Just an idea i had when looking at the linear movement of the ui.
Unfortunately I don't have any of the required skills or time to match even 1% of the ability of the Android development community but I'd definitely second this request. A very unique idea and I really like it.
BTW, a big thanks to the devel community. Without you guys fulfilling my gadget whore needs, I'd be buying a new device every week!
This is cool..maybe even an option in the notification bar to switch screens while in an app? Like the Linux desktop cube?

Rather than write something from scratch, maybe you could try to contribute this as an option in ADW.Launcher?
This has already been done before on a certain rom. I remember it being ported to the vogue android. I cant remember the phone it was ported from though. Blur or something.

Actually there were a few Windows CE based home mangers that had this feature. I also would love to have this. I asked a while back and got no response as to if there is anthing out there that did this.
wouldnt it be kinda hard to keep track of which screen is in which direction? like it seems orientation would feel very complex. but maybe not, i dunno

I could see something like dots on the edge of the screen kinda like how launcher pro does it.

Wait'll you see the home screen replacer I'm building based on a tesseract.

Who doesn't want 24 home screens?
For a 4 or 5 way slide/cube desktop, look at Dx Top. It has not been updated for a while but is stable and can use themes built for many of the other desktop replacements.
I have been running it over many ROMs and it works on all so far. Was a little funny with the app drawer on SkyRaider, it kept rebuilding the icons for some reason, that might have been due to installing too many icon packs.
Thanks for the support on this guys and the answers. i'm going to do some research and see what can be done/ported or if needed then created. Just trying to do like most people and think outside the box. Its what makes android 1000x better than the iphone/ipod scene. They are so restricted. i mean come on. 1 button. But keeping on topic, i really appreciate no flaming on the topic.

2 Annoyances, looking for solutions

I apologize if this has already been covered. If it has, I wasn't able to find it.
1)
After a call, when I pull the phone away, the notification bar gets stuck "slightly" pulled down and touches to the screen are unresponsive. I have to pull the notification bar down all the way, then put it back up to make it go away. Otherwise, the bar just stays at about a half inch (or less) from the top of the screen. I'm using the SuperDark rom, but I don't think it's an issue with that since I remember the same thing happening with one of the first calls I made on the phone. It seems to happen about 1 out of 4 calls I make. I'm pretty used to it now and I usually just end the call using the notification bar when it happens, but I wanted to know if anyone is experiencing this and how it can be avoided/fixed.
2)
Animated GIFs. I saw the post of annoyances saying how the browser doesn't support them. But I couldn't find anything about the Gallery app not supporting them, either. I can deal with the browser, but I use Chandroid for 4chan and such, and it would be nice to view the animated GIFs I save from Chandroid in the Gallery. Is there a fix for this? Or possibly an alternate Gallery app I can use?

Brand New Android Status Bar

Hello everyone, many of you probably have seen me post around here since mid July of this year. I've tried probably every ROM released so far, and I'd like to thank every Dev that has put work into all of these ROMs for us. You're all excellent in your own rights. But I've had an idea that I'd like to present to the community, and maybe it seems silly, but I'm just curious. First let me say I know nothing about the programming language in which Android is programmed. I've tried my hand at HTML and Flash as well as a bit of C++ and different things but really I'm a dabbler, never done any concrete work. So forgive me for sounding uninformed, and I am in no way saying I COULD do this. So here's my question: Why is the Android operating system status bar stuck at the top of the screen? Now yes, you can move it to the bottom in CM7 for example, under the tablet settings. But let me ask: Why could it not be a moveable object? For instance. If you held your finger on the status bar for lets say 5 seconds, why couldn't it be made to be interactively moved around the screen do different positions, lets say the left hand side of the screen, and then be a vertical bar? Or be dragged to the bottom left hand side, and be resized to a widget size which could be opened upon clicking? Just a thought, I know nothing about the work it would take to do such a thing or why it hasn't been implemented. If it's not possible, I understand. Just an idea for the advancement of the community, and if it's already been covered thoroughly, then I apologize.
