What is your opinions about those new phones?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
why did they change the processor ?!?!!
aren't they slapping early adopters in the face with that move ?
or is it the same processor just overclocked to 1.5 ...
the phone came out about 4 months ago why bump the specs SO early....
anyways great phones, Samsung is really aiming high with these
look at the weight... galaxy s2 is still the lightest of them

I'm guessing their going with Qualcomm because atm, their chip is the only one that supports LTE (at least in the US). Samsung might be working on an Exynos chip that can handle LTE but that hasn't been announced yet.
The Note is sporting a 1.4Ghz Exynos processor. Sexy beast w/ the Super Amoled HD screen! 5.3in. Screen, gorgeous!

I did read somewhere Note comes with Exynos chip clocked at 1.4 ghz and surely has LTE
http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/note/spec.html
I mind says choose S II LTE while the heart says its got to be Note.
All three are the best in class smartphones. May be I could keep all three
I hope it will be a Galaxy S III

Hmm, i don't feel like hitting the like button. My GS2 running at [email protected] with the official Samsung extended battery feels no envy at all
The soc is still the same afaik, this sounds like a cheap screen size buff to me. Anyway i'm pretty sure this will sell well in the US: it seems like people don't mind carrying a desktop pc in their pockets there
My galaxy s2 probably still in my pocket.
If Galaxy Note has stereo mic with noise reduction and can be installed voodoo control and it's super amoled hd plus i can sell my gs2 and buy it.
But i don't think it has all of them.. maybe none.
Hope for Nexus Prime...
The Samsung Note has me won over by the 2500 mah battery.
I'll keep my s2, not only because its new but more into my needs of the device.
Its a different things with an improvement from the 7 to 7'7gtab
Its an art of technology development

As you undoubtedly know, samsung has said Note will not be released in the US
Sgs2 screen is big enough and I cant see development being anywhere near as big for the others. Android runs smooth as butter with the sgs2 anyways. Cant see any reason in the near future for an upgrade
How about having a Wolfson audio chip inside Galaxy Note !!! with 5.3 inch screen it looks gorgeous. Well my biggest question is SUPER AMOLED PLUS vs SUPER AMOLED HD. I am sure letters are more readable with 285 ppi on the HD screen but what about the colors are they as bright as PLUS on HD screen. I hope so.
With a Wolfson audio chip and Super saturated HD screen i would go for the Galaxy Note. I love big screen's.

Be aware that there'se an official 2000mah battery for the GS2: it's doesn't even add bulk, it just makes the phone all thick as it already is at its bottom. I got it today and it rocks. Too bad the phone doesn't fit anymore in the case now...
GSG2 LTE sounds good. I can't wait til its released. I hoping it works on ATT. Didn't get SGS2 but kind of glad now. We have LTE launched in Houston but i don't know how good it is. Anyways still going to try it out once released.

Im looking forward to NOTE, if i like it (and its size) when i take it in my hands, its very likely that ill give my SGS2 to my girl and take NOTE for me
dont forget the note has a higher resoloution and bigger screen to power and its also overclocked to 1.4ghz with probably quite high voltages
i would say you may get equal battery life out of the sgs2 with 2000mah battery and overclocking and undervolting
of course that only matters if you want the note for the battery i can see the appeal of the device it would make so many things even better like media viewing , web browsing , sat nav etc but at the same time it may be just to big for my pockets i would have to hold it before making that judgement though saying that i am happy with my sgs2 and dont see the point in upgrading , its just a sideways step there will be much better coming real soon and they will be forwards steps like quad core etc
i dont think with that screen the battery will be much different to the 2000mah genuine one that you can buy for the sgs2 this device will rock for people who want an even bigger sgs2 though good too see samsung covering all aspects of the market
Hey guys i am in a big trouble of buying a new smartphone.
Among all the smartphones i narrowed down my choices to these three.
Here is what i like about each:-
galaxy note:-
1.biggest screen ever!I just fall in love with its 5.3 inch samoled screen.
2.very good battery life.
3.good performance
4.stylus
htc onex:-
1.Impressive screen, nearly everyone says that its the best screen ever on a mobile device,is this really true?
2.looks stunning
3.best performance with tegra 3
galaxy s3:-(as per expected)
1.will be a supreb rgb stripe samoled plus screen
2.will have best hardware
3.rest is unknown
For me,my 1st requirement is a samoled screen. So its obious for me to go with note or s3 but what i have heared the slcd 2 on the onex beats the note's samoled?
Honestly my heart is completely sold for the note's bigger screen, but if the screen on the onex is really better than i can look for that.
thankx in advance to all.......
For me, the screen size of Note is a reason enough not to look at any other phone. Before I got Note, I was really looking forward to One X and SG3 but now I have no interest in them and the only thing that I'm waiting for is Note 2
I believe in the States The One will have Snapdragon and no Tegra because of LTE issues. Same with the SG3. It's not really fair throwing the Note in the competition since it is last year's specs. It is essentially an SG2.
I will say the One is very tempting.
obviously galaxy note for me
Well its a nice question? My answer would be that it totally depends upon your need. About me I am a surgical resident and I was desperate to replace my laptop and tablet, for my presentation work, data collection and my books. Since I got my note gt n7000 life on floor and in OR has become easy. I have my book on it, which I can read easily because of its big screen. I use my references in rounds and its amazing camera which helps me in capturing all the clinical findings and procedures. It has fulfilled the needs beyond expectations. No need for another primary device. All ur intrnet , entertainment and study and work on a single device. Don't know abt one x and s3 is yet to come
yes i know that, but as per i have told my main requirement is the DISPLAY.
What i want to know is how is the contrst of note while compared with one x?Does the one x looks like washed when compared with note like all other ips?how is the colour saturation on both, does the note's colours pop out when compared to one x?

wait for s3, if you wont be satisfied, take galaxy note. htc one x has these big disadvantages in my view:
4.7" lcd screen (consumes a lot of energy)
no micro sd card support
no removable battery
tegra 3 cpu uses 40nm technology which also consumes a lot of energy and isnt so fast as others thinks
and in the end only 1800mah battery ;D
atm i have galaxy note and it is enough. Dual core 1.4ghz cpu is more than enough (you can overclock to 1.7ghz), common it is just phone, whats the point having quad core atm? it has 2500 mah batter, superamoled screen (low consumption energy) and micro sd support, also nice feature "on the go" and a lot of more features, also remember about ics update + premium suite which will be kick ass ;D
Wait for s3. My dad has the one x and is not happy with the not so big screen or battery life. Since u want a big screen go for the note but check out the s3 before u make a decision.

s3 i guess not many know mutch about, but i got the HoX and the Note and it is for sure always is the Note that follows me around.
HoX is still like other new phones fun to try and play around with but then you go back to the Note, not say HoX is bad tho..realy sweet phone.
Problem when you have use a Note is you get use to the Screen and most other feel small and also battery is Ace compare to many off my other devices.

There are rumors that there will be two versions of SG3. The first one is for 3G modem using Exynos 4412 4 cores. The second one is LTE version that uses Samsung's own modem chip and possibly Exynos 5250 2 cores. I would say that Note is not essentially S2.

I'd only switch for an a15 based dual core chip. Those things have great benches and good battery drain. I'm hoping that the note2 has that as I don't care about quad core.

i tried both note and one x, i preferred the note for it's bigger and more touch responsive screen, the battery is better on the note, so i ends up with selling the one x after one week of using it and came back to my lovely note.

I had seen some where in xda forum that the screen of onex looks better than the note, even better than all other phones.
My preference is not colour accuracy, what i want is the awesome contrast and the poping colours of amoled.
As i havent got addicted with the screen size of note yet,i think i can manage with the hox but the screen must have to be high on contrast and poping like note ! !
so does the hox's screen behave as my per my requirement?
heres the link bellow:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606636
After looking at those pic i am totaly confused that which screen look beter? All other screens look like washed out compared to samoled but i think the hox doesnt, isnt it?
I would still prefer Note among the rest as the screen is such killer. I don't think I am able to change into anything else smaller given the same spec. XD
ive had my note for 5 months or so now, and i've just tried a one X.
sooo, lets just remove all the fanboy-ism and analyse things with minimal bias.
contrary to popular belief, the difference in screen size isnt that big. its mainly that our display is a tad bit wider (our displays are 800x1280 vs the one x's 720x1280), not a big loss.
One X has a smoother UI and is much more responsive from what little time i've had with it, mainly in that its quick to load apps and quick to recover from dumping an app that used a lot of ram. so im guessing most of the people here who diss the one x probably either havent given it a fair go, havent set it up properly, or havent had much time to play with it.
and as for battery life, all i see is people complaining about paper stats saying that the one x will have worse battery life simply because its using an IPS LCD panel and has a smaller battery. thats just stats, but it doesnt mean it has worse battery life.
battery life will depend on how you use it. if you compare battery life with the way both phones are running now (not hacked, no custom ROMs), the one x surpasses our notes in browser battery life and in any app that uses bright colours. this is because we have amoled, and amoled uses more than twice as much power compared to LCD when it comes to rendering white, so our notes pretty much suck in this regard unless we browse pages that have black backgrounds, or at least until we get ICS browser, where we can invert the bg colour to black. the only advantage our notes have for battery life are in phone call (screen is off so this stops our amoled from being our disadvantage), standby times (screen is off here too), and only if we use dark backgrounds and apps with darker colours (amoled consumes no power when rendering black simply because the led/pixel is off).
IPS panels simply display colours closer to how they really are. i've been using a 37inch IPS panel as the display for my PC for 2 years now, and im quite happy with the colours. its not over-saturated like my note's amoled, and it doesnt have banding issues.
personally, i'd be happy if they made a fully backlit IPS panel with local dimming, then we'd have a display that can render colours accurately and display true black as well as have decent battery life in all conditions, but i doubt we'd see this anytime soon.
plus, those who are arguing that the one x's 40nm manufacturing process is a downside... last time i checked, our exynos 4210 chips in our notes were made on the inferior 45nm process which means that our temperatures and power consumption are higher if you analyse things on a per core basis. tegra3 can switch off cores when it doesnt need it, and also has a companion core to run mediocre tasks, so if you use an app that only uses one core on both phones (ignoring the whole amoled vs lcd) our CPU's technically consume more power.
the only things that peeve me about the htc one x are no microSD and microSIM. the microSD is easy enough to fix though, just get a usb on the go plug and hook up a usb thumb drive or a microSD card reader and problem is ghetto solved there.
the only thing holding me back from buying a htc one X is that i want to see the quad core competitors - meizu are releasing an MX with a larger screen and with a samsung quad core, LG and Fujitsu are releasing quad core phones soon as well. lets not forget the soon to be officially announced S3 as well. i'll see how all competitors perform before forking out the money for a new phone.

Having used both before buying the note I've got a good perspective. The one X screen is sharper, there's no doubt about that. However more important for me is that black looks black so the note wins for me. Stock vs stock the one X whoops the note, the software from Samsung is crap compared to stunner and other custom roms.
The main reasons I went for the note were the removable battery (one X is notorious for poor battery life, I'm talking a few hours on screen at best, anyone arguing this go to the one X section and see for yourself) and that I was bored of HTC. Give it a month or two and there will probably be some custom roms that really make the best of the battery and performance and then our notes will be left in the dust to some extent.

My friend with a HTC OneX is getting 6Hours battery life. I mean come on non removable battery .... why do an APPLE in the Droid world.
A Smartphone using all the features it has should ideally pass through a day of usage, only phone as of now being able to do this is the Gnote.
Hey guys i need your help urgently ! !
I am in a big trouble of buying a smartphone. My 2 choices are galaxy s3 and note.
these are the points that i like about each:-
galaxy s3:-
1.Best performance
2.Lots of added features
3.one of the best camera with burst mode too
4.Great battery life
5.WOLFSON
galaxy note:-
1.bigger better screen imo(its brightness is about 100 cd/m2 more than s3)
I know that s3's ppi is better but that mere 15ppi doesnt mean anything to me
2.Its by far much better looking than s3
3.spen
My main reason for loving the note more than the s3 is its SCREEN.Its sooo bigger and hence better for browsing, gaming, movies etc.
So here my maib questions are:-
1.Is the performance soo much better on s3 than note, specially the gpu?
because i love gaming and the gpu performance is what i need the most ! !
2.I heard and have seen that the ui of s3 so fluent that its now on par with iphone? Then how will be the ui of note?
3.how will be the browser comparision between s3 and note?
I am in hurry for gettibg one because in india we have some offer for note,in which samsung gives sennhieser headphone, flip cover,3000(60usd) games totally for free and this offer experies on 31st may.So what to choose?Even the note 2 will be launched in may be september,so is buying note good idea?
so plzzzzzz help meeeeeeee. . ... ...
thankx to all in advance....
Don't get note for now. I think you should get the best Samsung out there aka s3.
Sent from my HTC One X on Leedroid's ROM v5.1.0.
you should simply go for s3 , it beats note on all aspects except the screen size(if you like the bigger screen).
s3 packs the most powerful gpu for a mobile that are released so far.
Mate go for what you like at the end of the day, You're getting the phone for your needs. Just get the one you think is best suited for you ...
Ya all of you are right.I should be going for s3,but i think that the s3 is a bit narrow on the display front, isnt it? and may be thats why the resolution differ on both i.e 720p vs 800p?
BTW i am currently a s8500 user,i know the s3 will be the right jump for me but is the screen that too smaller than the note?
Personally, I'd go for the newer, better spec'd SIII over the Galaxy Note.

Well it's 0.5 inch smaller than the note. That means around 1.25cm in diagonal range. On a phone it's obvious if you put them next to each other but otherwise I think you will be really happy with S3's screen.
Also just to add to your first post regarding the specs... S3 has C-Pen, it's almost identical to note's S-Pen. Just so you know

I'm sorry but I really hate these types of responses. It doesn't offer the OP any real advice either way. He's asking specific questions about performance and quality and answers like this don't tell him anything.
Edit: OP, get the S3 and don't look back. It'll have much better dev support as well, being a flagship device.
Herp derp Captivate XDA Premium App.
Easy, get the Note now, enjoy that big ass screen. Then get the Note 2 and sell the old one.
I hope the Tmobile SGS Note comes with the S4 processor....
I had the Note and I'm planning to get the SIII. I think if you are a business or artistic kind of guy or use EverNote or have other uses for the wacom pen should be your main reason for getting it.

You can refer to these benchmarks for now, the Note will be slower, but for real world usage it fast enough to perform any mobile tasks, due to the dualcore Exynos at 1.4ghz. It has the same Mali GPU as the S3, you shouldn't miss out much on the gaming side. I'd say inevitably the S3 will perform faster for gaming, but I don't think will big enough of a difference to matter (besides the typical nerds bragging rights).
Games will still look nicer on the Note big screen. Another advantage with its large screen is if you use onscreen gamepads a lot, you have large area to move your thumbs so the controls seems to register better. It's decent enough that I can play a lot of 'classic' games without needing a physical controller. I think the S3 will be on par too though since its a big screen too.

Do not worry about screen brightness for either devices, both Note and S3 will be very bright with these AMOLED screens. The Note at 100% brightness is equivalent to staring at the Sun.

I don't have an SIII yet, so I don't know. As for the Note, if you have lots of stuff installed on a non-rooted Stock rom, there will be some lag in animation with touchwiz interface, but if you custom rom and use a lighter launcher, its smooth. It also have ICS now, so that might improve things.
3.how will be the browser comparision between s3 and note?

I don't know, I don't have the S3 yet, there are new software features and improvements with the S3. But large screen of the Note is a winner here obviously to me, text will be just a bit bigger, sometimes you don't even need to zoom in. It is possible that the S3 can render webpages faster, but I don't know.
Overall, it will be a hard choice, if depends on how much cheaper you can get a Note over the new S3, if you can save at least $200USD by getting the Note over the S3 than its a good deal. If you enjoy large screen estate go for Note, its easier for reading and watching HD movies on it is fantastic. It has excellent camera, great battery life (2500mAh, ICS as well, and better look (imo). If I was someone who already have a Nexus or Note (international), I would not upgrade to the S3, unless I have money to burn. I will get the S3 though since I always want to try the latest stuff and it has some interesting new software features that I don't think Samsung will port to older models because they want you to buy their latest phones.
Same "dilemma" except I have the Note.....I say BUY the Note USED.....try it then decide. You can't lose too much. I have never bought a new International device. Probably won't with the S3 either.
I love the Note's screen. In fact that is the reason I bought one. I still have a back up SGS2 but will sell that when I get the S3 and use the Note as a back up to our phones. The DAC is what tipped the scales for me. I had an iTouch mounted to my bike and had plugged in my earbuds to it when I went for longs rides. (and short ones) The Captiave, SGS2 and Note relagated my iTouch 4 to permant duty on my nightstand alarm where it inevr gets used as my phones also are my alarm clocks.......Be really nice to have some VooDoo Sound again. (Although VooDoo Louder came in handy on my bike.)
I am HOPING I won't miss the screen size of the Note and the trade offs for the many benefits the S3 has to offer in may other areas are worth it. Such as the ease of pocket carrying ( I LIKE the rounded corners LOL) , the many additional features, The Pen is something I do use and will use more since flashing to official ICS as it is virtually no lag anymore.
The SGS2 screen is too small for me anymore. I am not going back there. I think a slightly smaller screen will work better ergonomically.
I have no issue with using the phone with two hands although ICS now has "one hand mode" for the Note" where the keyboard and dialer are rendered smaller and moves to the left in effect giving on the same size as an S2 or iPhone.
Then the Note 2 may or may not come out if those using Note find the S3 covers all the bases well enough.

Guys i tried a lot for convincing myself to go for the s3,but my heart doesnt allow me for that Its still crying for the 5.3 inch hd samoled
So plz tel me how will be the gaming performance on both?
The main reason bothering much is now its the quadcore season so many apps will be made accordingly for the quadcores......So can i still be able to play those highly graphich demanding games at a good fps on note?
Only the processor is the factor that is stopping me from getting galaxy note! !
I will go for GS3. But, I still have a soft corner for Note. I will suggest OP to wait for Note 2.
Here's my reasons -
I suspect (no insider information, purely connecting dots) Note 2 will have Exynos 5 SoC. I think Exynos 5 just went into mass production in Q2, and was never ready for being implemented into SGS3.
We definitely can expect incremental update in Note's screen. So, either it would be HD SAMOLED PLUS or something like a PenTile 1600 x 1000 resolution keeping the aspect ratio same as OG Note.
But the most important factor could be Samsung huge marketing and developer push for S Pen apps.
They now have a $ 4million prize money for Note and Tab apps. Just a month back they had another S Pen app contest.
http://www.smartappchallenge.com/eng/main.do
You could be getting much better Pen apps.
In either case, both phones will have great support and winner in their own respect.
The note has much more of a "tablet-esque" functionalities to it with handwriting recognition and such.
S3 has only standard android handset features plus the newly demoed items which are unrelated to a tablet style larger screen interface.
For me the question you need to be asking is "do i need tablet functionality and screen size more than i need processing/graphics power and the new added features in S3's touchwiz (smartstay, svoice etc)?"

Huh? I think the answer is clear which phone you want.
It would be extremely handy to have som release information on the next Note, now. I am considering getting that instead of the SGS 3. I have the SGS 2 and the only thing I miss is screen real estate. And lots of it
Hi Everyone,
I've got an S4, very please with it, but I just saw this OPPO Find 5 phone, which looks similarly spec'd to the S4 (but significantly cheaper).
What do you guys think??

Phone was announced a while back...i like it, almost considered going for it but changed my mind..to much of a gamble.

1. Older and slower CPU! Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5GHz vs Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz
2. LCD TFT Screen vs. Super AMOLED FulHD Screen
3. OPPO vs.Samsung (this one is actually important when you look for custom ROMs and MODs)
4. Android 4.1 vs. Android 4.2.2 (for now)
5. 2500mAH battery vs 2600mAH battery
You decide....
I love my Oppo Find 5. I love the design, love the complete steel chassis design. No mucking around with plastic or even aluminum. They went straight for steel.
Display is great. Speaker is great. Frankly there is very little negative about the phone.
But it is totally outgunned by S4 at this point. You won't notice much in day to day use now but S4 destroys it in benchmarks.
But Find 5 is special. I am never going to sell this phone just to show people 20 years down the line that someone made phone like this.
It can't compete with S4 or One in pure performance but it puts smile on my face every time I use it. $500 phone with so many things done right.
Totally unfair to put it u up against S4 to be honest.
It is a good phone. Probably better made than One in my book.
From my Galaxy S4, in your face.....
H2H he S4 beats it at everything but looks. On the other hand it's still a very capable phone and at €400 it has an impressive price point in Europe.
Depends how well they have optimised the software on that phone. The S4 Pro on the Nexus 4 literally at the moment offers a much smoother and faster experience than the S4 with an updated CPU.

Yes, #3 is very important - a manufacturer that has been constantly acting in an antagonistic manner towards the development community for the past year and a half, vs. a manufacturer that is trying VERY hard to make developers happy. http://www.oppoforums.com/threads/rom-4-2-2-official-cyanogenmod-10-1.1715/page-21#post-33126 - need I say more?
Thanks guys,
I'm put to ease a little bit now, was feeling a bit down that this phone might be as good lol!

hello guys. i am looking for a new smartphone to replace my galaxy nexus. is a good phone but sometimes it shows his age in some apps.
i live in brazil so i can buy nexus 4 for R$1140 that is 512USD, and galaxy s4 octa is R$1685 that is 755USD. i love pure stock android but the hardware and camera of galaxy s4 is amazing. but the laggy touchwiz and only 9gb of space available makes me a bit worried. so i want to know if the pros of gs4 worth the 243USD more.
thanks
EDIT:i will sell my galaxy nexus for R$800, 359USD.

Can you think of anything the octa core processor can run that the quad core can't? How much is a cell phone camera worth to you? Are you looking to take professional grade photos with a phone? Which device has a better chance of running stock android? I would go with the nexus.

Man I'm from Brazil too, and I did it, sold my gnexus for R$ 750 and by my Nexus 4. Is perfect I recommend!

I would go for the Nexus. The Octa in the S4 can only run 4 cores at a time, so it isn't a true octa core processor, its a BIG.little chip. If you have the chance to get an HTC One, then I would go for that for the build quality

It depends on how much you value the camera and storage of the GS4 but overall I'd say no, the GS4 isn't worth $243 more.
Thank you guys. After read all the answers I noticed that everyone says that s4 do not worth the additional price. I will sell my gnex and buy a nexus 4. When I put all the pros and cons of both phones for my needing n4 is the winner. My opinion for who is in the same dillema:
S4 pros-
Camera
Raw power
Bigger screen
S4 cons-
More expensive
Touchwiz and Samsung bloat.
Bad big.little management (cluster migration)
Only 9gb for the user in 16gb model.
N4 pros-
Cheaper
Stock android
Lots of Roms that I am already used in gnex like PA.
Can run any game that s4 runs.
N4 Cons-
Smaller screen
Touch not so good as gnex
Camera not so good as s4 but better than gnex, so for me is enough.
So the cons on the n4 will not ruin my experience, is like a PC upgrade I will just upgrade the hardware and run the same software that I used to. Thank you guys to help me decide and save some money.

I would advise you to wait for snapdragon800. The nexus 4 for 500$ is expensive.
Wait for the upgraded galaxy S4 or a new nexus that should have the snapdragon800 SoC.
Also, check the rumored sony honami that is said to be announced in a few days, snapdragon800, 20mpx camera with 4k video recording.
So if you could wait a little it will be a big upgrade for you from a galaxy nexus, bigger than to either n4 or s4.

But can you give me a valid real world situation where the Snapdragon 800 would make normal usage better? Why spend extra for the latest and greatest when you can save money and buy something not quite as new and equally great?

There is already a system dump, that's where the info about the camera came from. Also evleaks already leaked detailed photos of the device. It's also going to be water and dustproof (not resistant, proof).

Because snapdragon 800 blows every other snapdragon chip out of the water. If it was a s4 pro -> s600 upgrade i wouldn't have advised him to wait, but the s800 is a totally new generation of SoC.

Still doesn't answer either question. It may well blow every SoC out of the water but that just means it's overkill and the power will never really be used.

s800 SoC supports 3GB of RAM , 4k video recording, 2k displays, and additional ports... oh, and a new stronger adreno 330 gpu.
in no way i find it overkill if you use your hardware for more than calls/sms, especially when implemented in tablets. Furthermore, as ubuntu for android (not ubuntu touch) should be coming out by the end of the year, i'm pretty sure the s800 should provide better performance in that field.

Well I haven't found a single HD game that can lag the N4 yet and I don't see any use whatsoever of having the S800 over the N4. Maybe I'll be proved wrong in the future but right now there's no point to waiting for the S800.

i think sd800 is like buying a i7 3770k and a gtx titan when just an i5 3570k and a 660ti can run any game or app.
i will buy today n4, too bad the black color sold out i will take the white one. thank you guys.

You're comparing a SoC to a phone as a whole?
If you take a wider look, running a 1080p display, a bigger camera sensor, not to mention the low level software tweaking and optimizations like project butter and other under the hood ones, etc.. requires a lot of processing power.
And with your logic, we don't need 1080p displays, or camera hardware similar to that in p&s ones, it's all overkill.
Did you know that the n4 gives a higher fps result when playing games than an s4 ? It just tells you that the s600 is not capable of pushing all those pixels and maintaining the same fluidity as it would on 720p.
Snapdragon800 is in no way an overkill to mobile devices, it's just a result of the evolution of technology. Other hardware parts are also evolving.
And p.s. s800 supports usb 3.0 , but why would anyone want faster data transfer rates, it's all overkill !
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Definitely the N4, even though S4 has a system dump already for the 4.3, Nexus devices will have it eventually.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Actually yes 1080p displays are definitely overkill IMO. I know that the N4 gets better FPS than the GS4 but that's NOT the same as saying the GS4 gets low FPS. Games are more than perfectly playable at the 40-60 FPS that the GS4 manages on ultra high settings on Real Racing 3. As you said though it's not all about the SoC and it's fairly clear that the GS4's software is poorly optimised seeing as it lags even when scrolling through the home screen. If I'm not mistaken the Adreno 320 is supposed to be capable of handling multiple 1080p displays at once.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of mobile technology advancing, but I wouldn't recommend a more expensive device over such a small increase in performance.

ok, i think i get your point now. i respect your opinion, but i don't agree with it (and that's cool).
1080p is actually quite beautiful when you have a big display (5") and no on screen buttons eating up space. watching a youtube video on full HD is really nice, the sharpness and color distribution also (noticeable when comparing both pentile on s3 and s4).
Anyways, all i wanted to say in my first post is that it's July already, and that a new generation of SoC is coming, and it's gonna be a pretty big upgrade. furthermore, we're all expecting a new nexus in Q4 right? i'm pretty sure we're gonna see an s800 in there, and hopefully Google will keep it's pricing strategy. i think a 3 months wait (till Oct/Nov) is worth it, i'm pretty sure OP's galaxy nexus could live that long, it's not that he has a low end device.
just to add one more thought, i'm aware that my nexus 4 will be more than capable to run ubuntu for android for example, but i'm pretty sure a nexus with an s800 would be even more capable. Or maybe i'm the only one getting excited about turning my phone into a dockable remote PC
