Now that the Note is coming to AT$T in a couple weeks, I've been doing some pretty serious window shopping. But, there's also the desire in the back of my head for the ever illusive S3. From those that have had the opportunity to use the Note, would you recommend the upgraded Note being released on the 19th or hold out S3 (with it's specs still in the rumor mill)?
My biggest draw to the Note is the fact that you can easily take notes right on it which is a plus for the office. One of my only worries is portability. Summers coming soon and the thought of carrying around a paperback novel (granted its only 40 pages thick) makes me nervous.
Please help sell me one way or another.

Ok first of all let me tell you that the phone is not an issue carrying around unless you are a fashion concious person. The phone will fit into major pockets except skinny jeans or any tight fitting clothing but if you carry a bag out then it won't be an issue. Any ways I think you should wait to buy the phone unless your in need of a new one quick. If not wait till the s3 comes out and see if you like it then great get that or else get the note and since you waited the note probably dropped in price
As for my opinions on the note, first I think the specs are fabulous, its pretty good enough for a phone in the year 2012 and I think it's gonna rock the boat when ics comes out. Before I bought the phone I did a specs comparison to the iPad 2 ( you know since this phone is targeted as a tablet phone and best tablet is iPad in my opinion) and the note turns out is more superior to the iPad 2 and at that moment I decided the note is my phone. Overall its a more than decent phone only thing is you might need to buy a memory card if your thinking like videos and music and games, I just bought a 16 gig card off Amazon for like I think less than 20 bucks (its original) and while I couldn't transfer my apps to the sd card I did move all my videos photos and music to the sd card freeing a few gigs.
Any ways it comes down to the owner's needs, I wanted a tablet and phone and then I saw someone showing of his phone at the subway taking pictures and stuff then I asked him and found out about the note, let me say this is not a replacement of a tablet, its an alternative so there is a difference

The at&t Galaxy Note isnt a Galaxy Note. Its just a big skyrocket spec wise. Expect heavy choppiness and lag due to the weak snapdragon SoC.
I got my Intl Note about 3 months ago back when there was no news of the S3. I recommend waiting for the S3.
The S3 is most likely gonna feature the new 1.5ghz Exynos or a quad core Exynos.
Once the quad core phones come out you're gonna regret buying a dual core phone.

I don't get this obsession with people wanting faster and faster processor, I mean I remeber a time when I was about 10 years old people would buy phones based on their looks or price and now every one just wants specs even if the phones are ugly. I'm not implying the phones now a days are ugly but I'm just saying what's up with wanting a faster processor I mean its just 0.1 more than the note how much faster is it gonna be. I think the current speed on the note is fabulous and I think this phone is perfect if I had one complain it would be the lack of space and the keyboard SUCKS. Other than that its an awesome phone

The shift from single-core to dual-core is probably much larger than from dual-core to quad-core. This is because Android in general isn't even properly optimized for dual-core let alone quad-core. You'd probably need to wait for "Jellybean" again to get proper optimized changes that takes advantage of a quad-core SoC. What happens then? You're paying a premium price for the first "quad-core" phone that isn't even properly utilized until the next ANdroid update comes.
Never buy into bleeding tech, always get it around the 50 ~ 70% cycle mark. That's where you get the best longevity, utility, and price to performance ratio. =)
If you really like the idea of note taking, there's really no reason not to get a note.. Make a prototype out of cardboard if you want to check portability. It's bout twice a thick as cardboard.
Big screen, stylus - that's what you want. What would you trade that for, in the s3?

Something you cannot see, 2 additional cpu-cores.
I'm going to guess that the S3 is going to have a 4.65" display as well or at most 4.7". They're not going to cannibalize the Note for no apparent reason. On that grounds alone if screen size matters, it's pointless to wait for the S3. If anything, wait for the Note 2 in October.

As i think people and correct me if i am wrong, but the quadcores will not be quadcores but 2x dualcores on different speeds so you will have max battery from it with a improved speed. Lets say 2x500 and 2x1500(2000) the 2 high end cores will fire if they needed.

All of the things a smart phone is used for is improved by a larger screen except portability, so the largest screen that is comfortably mobile is best. The Note is narrow enough to fit almost any pocket but is uncomfortable in trousers/jeans pockets and an alternative such as a deep shirt pocket or jacket pockets is needed. If you can live with that then get the Note for it will give you the best experience.

I think it's silly to suggest waiting nine months for the purpose of buying something with longevity. That's nearly half of a phone's lifecycle assuming you get a new phone every two years. This phone isn't even out in the US yet!
My advice: go buy your Note and enjoy it. There's no sense in waiting for a product that hasn't been announced, and something better is always around the corner. The best we can do is try to get something that's future-proof and enjoy it, and since the Note is one of the highest-end phones available today and Samsung has announced ICS for the it by the end of Q1, I think it's a smart choice.
Quick question, will the unlocked version of the gnote work on att's lte network?

I787. Sorry to burst some bubbles, but a 1.5 dual core snapdragon is not going to be noticeably inferior to the exynos. Plus, the snapdragons are compatible with the LTE network unlike the exynos chipset which gives the major advantage to the I787 in network speed.

If you watch/use flash content you absolutely need the power. My Note SMOKES my Transformer tablet with flash. The Note is silky smooth with no freezing while flash on the Transformer is a jerky freezing mess.
No way would I give up the Notes Exynos processor. It flies.

I really urge you to reconsider. You're basically buying a big Skyrocket if you get that. Even if the speed difference is negligible to you, dev support will be way lower for a Snapdragon chip.

Go read reviews from people who traded their OG SGSII's for Skyrockets.
I personally went to go check out the skyrocket on release day and there was so much lag compared to the OG SGSII model.
But, the snapdragon barely keeps the skyrocket running, the note is a lot bigger, so it requires more processor power, something that the snapdragon can't give

I agree partially with this statement. I have both the Note and Skyrocket now and had the SGS2 as well.
In terms of day to day speed SGS2 > Skyrocket > Note
The Note isn't slow, but imagine the difference in pixels it's pushing. I can't imagine the ATT Note on that snapdragon (which in all reality is not that bad, just not an exynos)
I actually was lucky enough to be in the right spot at he right time today and place the AT&T Note in my hands. Was at my local company store today dropping off a freshly rooted and cleaned SGS2 to an aquatintance there and joking asked if he has a store unit yet. To my surprise he said "Yup" and walked over to a corporate guy who was there on business who happened to be carrying one.
Contrary to speculations...even in it's stock and bloated form, it was VERY responsive. I noticed next to no lag and can only imagine what the thing can do when overclocked. Every web page I went to, opened pretty much at desktop speeds and jumping from app to app was fluid and seemless.
Now am I gonna be listening to Pandora, watching Netflix, tethering 4 devices and setting up a Webex? Probably not. I actually have to work while at work and my daughter gets my home time. PDF's, business uses, and making calls.... that about sums it up these days.

1.Impressive screen,nearly everyone says that its the best screen ever on a mobile device,is this really true?
2.looks stunning
3.best performance with tegra 3
galaxy s3:-(as per expected)
1.will be a supreb rgb stripe samoled plus screen
2.will have best hardware
3.rest is unknown
For me,my 1st requirement is a samoled screen.So its obious for me to go with note or s3 but what i have heared the slcd 2 on the onex beats the note's samoled?
Honestly my heart is completely sold for the note's bigger screen,but if the screen on the onex is really better than i can look for that.

For me, the screen size of Note is a reason enough not to look at any other phone. Before I got Note, I was really looking forward to One X and SG3 but now I have no interest in them and the only thing that I'm waiting for is Note 2
I believe in the States The One will have Snapdragon and no Tegra because of LTE issues. Same with the SG3. It's not really fair throwing the Note in the competition since it is last year's specs. It is essentially an SG2.
I will say the One is very tempting.

Well its a nice question? My answer would be that it totally depends upon your need. About me I am a surgical resident and I was desperate to replace my laptop and tablet, for my presentation work, data collection and my books. Since I got my note gt n7000 life on floor and in OR has become easy. I have my book on it, which I can read easily because of its big screen. I use my references in rounds and its amazing camera which helps me in capturing all the clinical findings and procedures. It has fulfilled the needs beyond expectations. No need for another primary device. All ur intrnet , entertainment and study and work on a single device. Don't know abt one x and s3 is yet to come

What i want to know is how is the contrst of note while compared with one x?Does the one x looks like washed when compared with note like all other ips?how is the colour saturation on both,does the note's colours pop out when compared to one x?

wait for s3, if you wont be satisfied, take galaxy note. htc one x has these big disadvantages in my view:
4.7" lcd screen (consumes a lot of energy)
no micro sd card support
no removable battery
tegra 3 cpu uses 40nm technology which also consumes a lot of energy and isnt so fast as others thinks
and in the end only 1800mah battery ;D
atm i have galaxy note and it is enough. Dual core 1.4ghz cpu is more than enough (you can overclock to 1.7ghz), common it is just phone, whats the point having quad core atm? it has 2500 mah batter, superamoled screen (low consumption energy) and micro sd support, also nice feature "on the go" and a lot of more features, also remember about ics update + premium suite which will be kick ass ;D
Wait for s3. My dad has the one x and is not happy with the not so big screen or battery life. Since u want a big screen go for the note but check out the s3 before u make a decision.

s3 i guess not many know mutch about, but i got the HoX and the Note and it is for sure always is the Note that follows me around.
HoX is still like other new phones fun to try and play around with but then you go back to the Note, not say HoX is bad tho..realy sweet phone.
Problem when you have use a Note is you get use to the Screen and most other feel small and also battery is Ace compare to many off my other devices.

There are rumors that there will be two versions of SG3. The first one is for 3G modem using Exynos 4412 4 cores. The second one is LTE version that uses Samsung's own modem chip and possibly Exynos 5250 2 cores. I would say that Note is not essentially S2.

I'd only switch for an a15 based dual core chip. Those things have great benches and good battery drain. I'm hoping that the note2 has that as I don't care about quad core.

i tried both note and one x, i preferred the note for it's bigger and more touch responsive screen, the battery is better on the note, so i ends up with selling the one x after one week of using it and came back to my lovely note.

I had seen some where in xda forum that the screen of onex looks better than the note,even better than all other phones.
My preference is not colour accuracy,what i want is the awesome contrast and the poping colours of amoled.
As i havent got addicted with the screen size of note yet,i think i can manage with the hox but the screen must have to be high on contrast and poping like note ! !

After looking at those pic i am totaly confused that which screen look beter?All other screens look like washed out compared to samoled but i think the hox doesnt,isnt it?
I would still prefer Note among the rest as the screen is such killer. I don't think I am able to change into anything else smaller given the same spec. XD
ive had my note for 5 months or so now, and i've just tried a one X.
sooo, lets just remove all the fanboy-ism and analyse things with minimal bias.
contrary to popular belief, the difference in screen size isnt that big. its mainly that our display is a tad bit wider (our displays are 800x1280 vs the one x's 720x1280), not a big loss.
One X has a smoother UI and is much more responsive from what little time i've had with it, mainly in that its quick to load apps and quick to recover from dumping an app that used a lot of ram. so im guessing most of the people here who diss the one x probably either havent given it a fair go, havent set it up properly, or havent had much time to play with it.
and as for battery life, all i see is people complaining about paper stats saying that the one x will have worse battery life simply because its using an IPS LCD panel and has a smaller battery. thats just stats, but it doesnt mean it has worse battery life.
battery life will depend on how you use it. if you compare battery life with the way both phones are running now (not hacked, no custom ROMs), the one x surpasses our notes in browser battery life and in any app that uses bright colours. this is because we have amoled, and amoled uses more than twice as much power compared to LCD when it comes to rendering white, so our notes pretty much suck in this regard unless we browse pages that have black backgrounds, or at least until we get ICS browser, where we can invert the bg colour to black. the only advantage our notes have for battery life are in phone call (screen is off so this stops our amoled from being our disadvantage), standby times (screen is off here too), and only if we use dark backgrounds and apps with darker colours (amoled consumes no power when rendering black simply because the led/pixel is off).
IPS panels simply display colours closer to how they really are. i've been using a 37inch IPS panel as the display for my PC for 2 years now, and im quite happy with the colours. its not over-saturated like my note's amoled, and it doesnt have banding issues.
personally, i'd be happy if they made a fully backlit IPS panel with local dimming, then we'd have a display that can render colours accurately and display true black as well as have decent battery life in all conditions, but i doubt we'd see this anytime soon.
plus, those who are arguing that the one x's 40nm manufacturing process is a downside... last time i checked, our exynos 4210 chips in our notes were made on the inferior 45nm process which means that our temperatures and power consumption are higher if you analyse things on a per core basis. tegra3 can switch off cores when it doesnt need it, and also has a companion core to run mediocre tasks, so if you use an app that only uses one core on both phones (ignoring the whole amoled vs lcd) our CPU's technically consume more power.
the only things that peeve me about the htc one x are no microSD and microSIM. the microSD is easy enough to fix though, just get a usb on the go plug and hook up a usb thumb drive or a microSD card reader and problem is ghetto solved there.
the only thing holding me back from buying a htc one X is that i want to see the quad core competitors - meizu are releasing an MX with a larger screen and with a samsung quad core, LG and Fujitsu are releasing quad core phones soon as well. lets not forget the soon to be officially announced S3 as well. i'll see how all competitors perform before forking out the money for a new phone.

Having used both before buying the note I've got a good perspective. The one X screen is sharper, there's no doubt about that. However more important for me is that black looks black so the note wins for me. Stock vs stock the one X whoops the note, the software from Samsung is crap compared to stunner and other custom roms.
The main reasons I went for the note were the removable battery (one X is notorious for poor battery life, I'm talking a few hours on screen at best, anyone arguing this go to the one X section and see for yourself) and that I was bored of HTC. Give it a month or two and there will probably be some custom roms that really make the best of the battery and performance and then our notes will be left in the dust to some extent.

My friend with a HTC OneX is getting 6Hours battery life. I mean come on non removable battery .... why do an APPLE in the Droid world.
A Smartphone using all the features it has should ideally pass through a day of usage, only phone as of now being able to do this is the Gnote.

So as we all now know, the galaxy s III is coming to sprint by the 21st, and many of us are considering moving to the SIII for our upgrade. I personally hope to get one on the first when my upgrade hits. How bout u guys? Would u switch? Have u already decided? Why or why not? What r u most excited for? What will u miss from the NS4G? Totally getting one through my work but I'm upset its not going to be the quad core version. North America got screwed out of that in favour of LTE speeds. Anyone know how the dual core will benchmark compared to the quad exoynos?

I pre ordered the gs3 within 5 minutes of sprint putting up the pre order page. So yes, I am getting excited about this phone. This is kind of unusual for me because I don't normally get excited over release dates.
I am looking forward to pretty much the same things as you. The big screen, more speed, 2gb ram and I miss the memory card slot I lost when coming to the ns4g.
There is really only one concern I have and that's with having to use Odin. I have many bad experiences with odin and even the thought of using it again gives me a little apprehension.
I can only hope I like the gs3 as much as I have the ns4g.

I ordered mine about 2 min after Skunk ape. I've never had an issue with Odin myself and consider it an advantage of the Galaxy phones.
Yea I hear ya, personally I've had great experience with Odin so I'm not too concerned about that...I haven't pre ordered the phone only cause my upgrade isn't till the first . The dev community should be great since it seems to be getting supercharged with some of the best of the xda community going to it . I'm going for pebble blue myself, the white seems too glossy and not elegant, I love the way the finish on the blue looks, but of course gotta see it first

Benchmarks are so close you won't notice a difference. The dual core used has wider cores to allow more information to be passed through. The quad core doesn't have that technology yet so we're actually better off. Plus better battery life

Yeah - I will also change my phone in a month or so.Nexus S is good but i think it is very slow and sluggish now due to ICS.I'll switch to GNex and save money for next nexus phone.

same here. my upgrade is not until aug & with the news that there will be 5 nexus phones... i think waiting to see the competition for a fresh jelly bean phone will be my best bet
My thoughts are touchjizz sucks and since sammy is sooo amazingly fast with updates and always releases their kernel source.

Galaxy S III!!!
I love my nexus s 4g ever since cyanogenmod 9 has a stable version my phone has not messed up too much. i experienced 2 random reboots in the last 3 weeks. battery life is good. I was gonna go with the galaxy note because of the 5.3' screen but since i seen the galaxy S III even though the screen is only 4.8' it's better than my 4' screen. another thing that snagged me was not that it's not gonna be dual core it's the fact that it's gonna be the first phone with 2gb of RAM it might be a little sacrifice from the quad core it was supposed to be released with. to me i think the galaxy S III will be a great phone. yes they have bugs but everyone knows the verry first set of phones will have issues. thank god my contract ends this november so this way i can save up get the $250 32gb version and only pay $50 with my $150 discount and also i will be able to get some accessories for it like the wireless charger because that is set to come out 3 months from now. since my contract ends in november i will be able to get it. another thing that got my attention to galaxy S III is that they use gorilla glass 2 on it so it can protect against cracks. And when i get the phone they might have better accessories released by then like cases skins and maybe the otter box. i used to own the htc evo 4g but i went through 3 of them cause i had the white one so sprint said at the corp. store do u want to wait until another evo 4 comes in or do you want to take the nexus s 4g so i took it and ever since i did i like samsung smartphones now the camera runs better and smoother than that crappy htc ones they suck. well this is my reason to switch to Galaxy S III i hope u liked it.

Tho I must warn you that actually with an upgrade it is 200 dollars, so unless ur getting 150 from selling ur nexus, don't expect ur upgrade to get it lower, since 199 is the price after applying upgrade numbers; outside upgrade it is higher than 500 dollars.
To respond to the one who asked about quadrant and speed in quad v dual, I've read many many reports on the issue and it seems that the snapdragon s4 coming to the U.S. actually tends to outperform the quad in most areas, proving that more isn't always better. Also the s4 is based on a newer chip architecture than the quad as another person mentioned earlier. This means not only do we get an edge in the whole technology and in speed, performance, etc, but we also get a nice battery boost vs the international version because 2 cores takes less to operate than 4, S4 is also more power efficient, and finally, we have a really nice battery not to mention 2gbs of ram, so I personally expect highly impressive battery results, even with it being an lte phone, since at launch lte will be off anyway, giving us the performance boost and battery boost of the dual core, newer s4, more ram, all on a highly loaded battery built to handle a quad or a dual with lte on.
Does that make sense? U see how its practically a win win for us?

I'm probably gonna hold off until the next Nexus device. I'm really curious as to what the next Nexus device will look like. Hopefully by then the prices will drop for the three year term (yes...I'm in Canada -_-).
I waited on the Nexus S and it ended up being a single core device with specs identical to the Galaxy S released about one month before the first dual core phones.
So I waited until MWC 2011 to see what the SGS 2 would look like, as I was excited for that. I wasn't let down, aside from the lack of resolution update. But no AWS for a long time and when the T-Mo version came out it wasn't even the same device anymore.
I got a cheap Nexus S and so I waited on Nexus Prime / Galaxy Nexus. It looked amazing externally, but internally the specs were anemic. Most of the performance gains were software based, and basic things like camera were a downgrade.
So I waited on SGS 3, thinking THIS WOULD BE IT. Nope.
It's literally an SGS2 HD with two extra cores and overclocked gpu. It also looks far inferior to the Galaxy Nexus and even the SGS 2 - not that I care about aesthetics much but glossy plastic? Really?? One X has it beat on display quality and aesthetics, but unfortunately lacks microsd, removeable battery and has inferior camera.
Software is something that both OEMs pimped, and would be the first thing I would remove.

Honestly all the specs we could've expected came in the s3 aside from things like flexible display, which were really not ready for production anyway. As for plastic design? See the blue, and hold it before you say it feels cheap. And it is far from an HD sgsii. Granted its not as far of a boost but we shouldn't have expected another amazing jump, nonetheless this is quite an uograde, and as u showed, the siii wins out because of things like removabale battery, tho build quality is generally better on htc, Samsung has an impressive galaxy track record not to mention the development aspects of being able to use odin vs struggling aginst s off

I thought a lot of jumping in the Galaxy S3 but my Nexus S4G still great so I'm just going to hold out for the next Nexus this late fall or winter & if sprint doesn't improve with this network vision I'm off to T-Mobile faster speeds with there Hspa+ I've been with Sprint for 10 years!! Back on subject the Galaxy S3 is going to be a great phone with tons of Roms remember this time all of the carriers Galaxies will be identical except a few things like radios & apps so it be great to develop & port things all have same name no more E4GT or S2 skyrocket just Galaxy S3 pick a color & carrier they will also have sane CPU, gpu 2gb ram identical

First i was quite happy with the new exciting features but soon been dispaointed with a lot of manufacturing processes issues.
Overheating, black spots on screen, feeling in hand so-so because of the rounded corners and we can easily drop it on the floor, call quality problems and some lack of real developpement on our North America Device because of the International version who takes the lead ...
I kept my Galaxy S2 ( international one that almost everyone have fortunately. Not LTE but it is ok ) that i have for 8 months and when i returned to it I felt very comfortable and sell the GS3 at the same time.
I do not want to start a troll or something it is just a personnal opinion that I want to share with the community and I would like to know if other people feels scammed with the SGS3 or if I make a big mistake.
At first the phone is cool. But after a few weeks the magic really disapears ..
I have the same opinion too... I have a black i777 ATT and a white international... I prefer them to the S3. They have reasonable screen size and way better design. The S3 is too big for my taste and I cant stand the design that made for woman ( with a big hands of course). Even though the S3 comes with new features but the ATT S3 still uses dual core so its not really a big improvement.

The S3 is blazing fast though. Maybe my comparisons of CM9 versus stock SGS3 are unfair but my gf's SGS3 feels so fast. Just laucnhing the app launcher hers beats mine. You'd think a simple task like that shouldn't matter much. It's like playing Doom 2 on a Core i7 versus a Intel Pentium 4. The load times are like 1 seconds versus 0.9 seconds or something. But maybe it's because of TouchWiz.
I realize that the Sgs3 is uglier and stuff, but honestly get it. Things like BLN matter for me and unless they get BLNWW I don't think I'll be 100% satisfied with my phone. Plus the screen is gorgeous on the SGS3.
As for development, the Exynos SOC is well developed for. you can credit hte SGs2 for being the guinea pig because remember CM7? we had issues even AFTER CM7.1 release with market crashing left and right and outstanding issues. It was never fully working til post CM7.1. Heck I think we had issues into December/January.
But as a result of our struggles on the SGS2 and other devices like the Note, I think SGS3 benefitted greatly. Look at where we were in CM7 at this point last year. Meanwhile the SGS3 has ICS running beautifully. The progress in CM10 is about the same as that on the SGS2.
Yeah it's not the most beautiful device, and there's still probably more SGS2 than SGS3 users, but look at 6 months down the road, The SGS3 will shine more. Our SGS2s only have room to fall more and more behind as newer devices come out. I'm itching to buy but at the same time I'm telling myself just to wait for the next Nexus....
At first I think I will change my S2 to S3. But I think when I don't feel S2 fast or few during use than why sould I change? Maybe next year, and maybe Note 2

You can check the benchmark reviews for an idea of the differences.And you could have visited a phone shop and see how it fitted in your hand etc before you bought one.

Ya seriously instead of wasting money on just to try it u could hav done that,,, I prefer S2 still because of two reasons, one is financial my salary is only half of the price of S3 second one is S3 s far too big too handle(Not tooooo much ) like I m rider I keep checking mails for professional purpose even some times stopping on side of roads if phone slips gone .. I started saving for s2 from one year I m happy with this Beast.. Also Sammy confirmed JB for s2.. Atleast can draw upto 1 1.5 years more
Don't get me wrong, I agree that in terms of specification, the S3 is superb device, in terms of speed, screen resolution etc. It offers a greater degree of future proofing than the S2 but would I spend money to upgrade at this stage? No, it's just not enough of a step up to make me consider it. And I have had a good play around with a couple of them.
I will wait for the S4 or possibly a future Nexus before moving by which time my S2 will be very well used. And I still think the S3 is just too feminine in design for my personal taste. Kind of like how the original VW Beetle morphed from a car that transcended class and gender barriers into the recreated one that doesn't.
That said, if I owned an S3, I would just stick it in a decent case and be as happy as Larry.
heres my rant, I've been thinking about this since it came out, I can't justify the upgrade, mostly for the 720p screen and dpi so I got a tablet for browsing
I don't mind the quad core as dual is more than enough power, one thing I was not sure about is the quality control on amoled screen and design, I wouldn't want to root it and risk warranty.
been looking at my local listing site and I see many s3 with broken screens from being dropped and knowing how many times I dropped my s2 I know the s3 design wont be any better
and last, the size and shape, other than it being feminine, it will be too big to use it with one hand, its not designed for most humans I find the s2 hard as it is reaching the other side with my thumb

Sgs3 or note2 are only for them, those hands are larger to fits in hands comfortably....plus you have to maintain them properly and you have big pockets to fit in.

You could sell it as is on eBay.You could get around £160 for it.A screen can cost around £100 but it could be tricky to replace.

I like my s2 very much :fingers-crossed: especially with aluminium bumper + 2000mah battery :good: and also siyah kernel + miui v4
I have a GS2 running CM9 stable.
While GS3 is blazing fast, for everyday activities GS2 is more than sufficient.
Also, GS2 being 800 x 480 resolution has a comparable or even better frame rates than GS3 running at 720P when running games.
So, I will stick with GS2 for another year and may be look at GS4 or if something more awesome comes in.
Ok folks.....so i just got my Note 2 yesterday. Last night i'm messing around with it and i then have this thought. Where the hell does Samsung go from here? I mean i am so pleased with this phone....but then in the back of my mind i think "Wait a sec....they are gonna come out with ANOTHER one of these next year!" And me being the tech nerd that i am i will likely get it. But seriously....WHAT else can they do? lol I bought my first Note at the beginning of the year.....so that's 2 $700+ smartphones in one year. A little ridiculous to some i'm sure.....but next year when this time rolls around Samsung is going to have to do something TRULY revolutionary to get me to switch! So what do you guys think? I LOVE this phone....just can't see it getting much better. Discuss......:good:

There are places for lot more improvements. Better battery (maybe using different technology), flexible display, stylus with built-in mic/speaker like the BT s-pen but smaller and included with in it, which charges when it's inside the Note (whoa!), wireless charging.. hmm

Sharp started to product 5-inch 1080p screens...
If the Note 3 got this kind of screen, i'll buy it for sure.
I do agree that the note 2 is so snappy that a faster cpu is of questionable bang/buck. Android needs to get better with multi threading.
Bigger screen is possible with less bezel. You'd have to lose that Samsung logo.

This device may look fantastic today and i'm sure it is which is why i'm also planning on getting one as soon as possible.
However, as i upgrade every two years and not every year due to contracts new better devices released inbetween is not really a issue. There will always be better devices released, you just have to accept that fact. I'm sure Samsung has many cards up it's sleeve with new things they plan on implement in future versions of this and their other devices. Things like user experience, interface, artificial intelligence, better camera, software, input, raw power and interaction with external products. The whole experience can evolve so much more than compared to what it looks like today but these things needs time to grow slowly into what they will become.

Well they probably gonna come out eith a better processor ( exynos 5250 I believe its called based on the new A15 architecture), I know the note 2 is the fastest thing out right now but when that new exynos comes out next year, itll make this note feel like turtle speed. Samsung is gonna kill it. But I agree, yhis phone is so perfect that Im not sure what else we really need. Higher res screen and stuff like that probably. Note 2 is AWESOME!

For 1 I'd like to see the Snapdragon S4 Pro (quad-core) only because it's actually a fusion of A9 and A15 architecture (and smaller transistor size = less power leak = less heat and power use) which means better performance. Also, I'd like a much better GPU... what don't these manufacturers understand? Phones are beginning to be like PCs the bottleneck is ALWAYS the GPU nowadays... sure we have quad-core CPUs in Android phones, but all the iDevices have GPUs with almost double the performance, c'mon!

Yeah, I was hoping for the Toshiba 1080p 5" displays announced back in March I believe to start showing up (Toshiba did say they were going to show up in devices Q4 2012). I mean Oppo did release a 5" 1080p phone (at least announced it), I'd consider it, but I need my wifi-calling on T-Mobile (good for international calls as long as you got wifi and for places where tmo reception goes kaput).
Although I want to see some 5.3" 1920x1200 screens please

A15? That's like asking what's going to be better than some intel/amd quad procie when these companies are coming out with more faster processors

Cores alone do not a processor make.
The Exynos 5 Dual-core might turn out to be faster than the Exynos 4 Quad.
It has all to do with the architecture, design layout and fabrication process.
Two no-brainer upgrades for next year's model:
[1] 1080p screen
[2] Power-efficient CPU & SOC (low-power).
Screen size of 5.5" is good, no need to go bigger. CPU can be dual or quad core, as long as it has a newer architecture with low-power consumption.
I cant do more than 5.5 inch screen honestly. Anything bigger will be in the realm of tablets.

They can do much better
I had a look at the GN2 and I really like it for me it is the best phone on the market right now. But I will not buy it yet because I do not feel that it is so much better than my GN1.
Think that they could go even bigger and maybe get rid of more Bazel I also think that they can do so much more around multi tasking - I mean the real deal like windows. They should also marry a bigger screen to a higher Res. It would make it awesome to look at.
I also think putting in something like Pureview would not hurt.

They can fit a 6" screen into the current 5'5 Galaxy note size right now. It would have to be glass to glass touchscreen with no bezel (maybe some at the bottom for the buttons)
So the people complaining that the 6" phone would be too big, look at the galaxy note 1 vs galaxy 2..the screen got bigger but the overall size got slimmer

And that will be the extent of it.
Because you can make the device taller, but you can't make it wider. Even if you need two hands to use the device properly, the width has to be small enough to be held in one hand.
That is where the Note II shines.
It is the biggest phone out there right now, but people can still hold it in one hand.
I don't like screens where they use a chunk of it for on-screen buttons and use that portion as part of the screen measurement.
