Was trying out with the new Sony SBH20 NFC A2DP that i just buy and there seems to be a issue with the connection whenever i turn off the screen while listening to songs. The songs will have constant breakoff but when i turn on the screen, it will be find. Anyone have this problem while connecting to any bluetooth device?
When you press the power button to put the tablet to sleep, I don't think it's possible to keep the music playing. Which explains why it will start working again as soon as you press the button to get it out of sleep.

Does anyone know if it is possible to somehow turn off the screen while playing an mp3?
The power off button also powers off the sound and is therefore not an option.
Just listening to a song I find it a but stupid to drain the battery due to the screen not turning off.
Maybe another player is an option?
In the media player options, u can assign the display poweroff to a hardware button, take a look :wink:
Hi, guys, I am using my XDA Neo as a mp3 player all the time. Here I have one question, to save the battery, I would like to turn off the screen, but keep the phone and other program (like media player) still running, what should I do? Is there any 3rd party software can do this?
If I press the power button, the XDA will go to sleep, but the phone is still on. If I press and hold the power button for like 5 seconds, it will ask if I want to turn of the device completely, and I tried it, the XDA was completely off including the phone function. So, what button can turn off the screen display but not anything else?

In media player under Options/buttons you can assign any a key to turn off the screen, without the music is stopping..

There is a program called MortSaver that not only turns off the light, but actually turns off the screen. It locks all of the buttons and it takes a 2 button combination to unlock the buttons. However you can press any button and activate the screen just to see a special display with the time, battery and phone status...very cool. I use it strictly for playing mp3s (ogg in my case) when the phone is in my pocket or backpack.

...which also works when the device is on standby? The standard media player still plays music on standby, but the buttons don't work anymore! But i need a good player so that i can use my ppc as a mp3 player in my pockets.

Depends on the rom you use. For my Prophet, most of the roms work this way: you press the power button and the screen goes blank, music keeps playing and all other buttons don't respond (except power button). Some of the roms stop playback when you suspend.

If I press the power button while music is playing, WMP keeps playing with the screen off. I thought this was normal.
I also have my bluetooth Stereo headset going when I do this.
Weird.
I'm running a Schaps 4.3 ROM if that matters.

The Sprint Touch stops playback when you hit the power button using WMP.
The muzic stop if i press the power button on my hima so i set S2U2 to turn of llight after 30 seconds and after that it lock the screen so no key press
My ouya is doing it all the time. I switch it off from the menu it goes alive after some time. When I switch it off with a button the situation is the same. Has anyone got the same problem?
Mine doesn't since the update. Before the last update it did after I touched the controller.
Keep in mind you can turn the ouya off now by pressing the Y button in the main menue (since update). Then it stays off.
Or you can HOLD the Ouya button and then select "off" in the popup.
Pressing the Ouya button just enables stand-by.

I have the same issue after the update. I use the "Y" button at the main screen to turn it off and select OUYA. The console will be on when I come back to the tv.
When you "turn off" the OUYA via the Y button at home screen, its essentially putting it to sleep, then when you leave and switch back to the input that your OUYA is attached to, your TV will send a "wake up" signal, which effectively turns the OUYA back on...
Yep, Using the Y button from the menu doesn't shut the Ouya off and neither does just pressing the button. Both will put it into sleep mode and it's VERY easy to wake from sleep. With earlier controllers just pressing a controller button will wake the controller and then the Ouya (the later rev controllers I got after they replaced my originals don't wake up unless you press the center OU button so they're less susceptible to this.) And the Ouya will wake if it senses activity on the HDMI port. With my TV I don't even have to change to the input the Ouya's on, just turning on the TV apparently causes enough activity on the ports that it wakes the Ouya up each time I turn the TV on if the Ouya is just sleeping.
I was really excited that they finally added the ability to put it into sleep mode from the controller. But it's so ridiculously easy to wake up that it's kind of senseless and I'm still stuck getting up and either pressing the button for 2-3 seconds and then using the controller to confirm the power off, or more commonly just holding the button for 8 seconds until it shuts down.
I really hope they do something better with the whole power thing before commercial release but there's not much time left for them to fix it.

I'm having the same problem as well. Keeps turning on even though I don't even touch it. This sucks double cuz the ouya doesn't have any cpu governing so it's always running at full speed.
this is a FEATURE of the OUYA! It is NOT running in the background all the time! It turns back on when you activate the input. Someone has also stated that it is part of the official "features" list of the OUYA.

After messing around with this for a while I messed up my controller to where it was stuck on no matter what I did. Luckily it was temporary and a hard restart fixed it but it did help in determining exactly what triggers the OUYA to turn on!
This is something built into Android, every phone/tablet has it. It's bringing it out of sleep. Some phones only allow it to happen by the power button, others it's any physical button, but as far as I know all of them turn their screen on when plugged in to charge, and that's what's going on here.
The OUYA turns on whenever I activate the input it's in. If I switch to it, the OUYA turns on, if I turn on the TV when it's already on that input, the OUYA turns on.
When my controller was stuck on, I would use the Y button to "turn off the ouya" and then any button press or movement of the controller would turn it back on, just as physical buttons do with phones.
So yes, it is actually a feature, but it's built into Android and not just the OUYA. It is most likely that it does have to do with CEC, since the HDMI is looking for anything active on that input, so the OUYA sees it as being plugged in.
With that said I think it's pretty cool that it does that! I mean I know it doesn't save any time or anything like that, as you still have to turn on the controller, but it is just cool to put it onto the input or turn on the TV and the system is already ready to go.

Ah, so there's a sleep feature and a power off feature. I see.
The sleep feature is not working well. Comes out of sleep by it self it seems. While on sleep, is it turning off the 4 main cores and only running on the 5th low process Tegra core?
I believe it is a WOL (wake on lan) from the router but I could be wrong.
So out of curiousity, how does the controller decide when to sleep/wake up? It seems like every few minutes of inactivity (say I'm watching a movie and I want to turn down the volume) I need to long press the button in the middle to get the controller to turn on/pair, which all takes about 5-6s, which isn't always convenient (or say pause the movie if someone calls).
Is there a way to increase the timeout or turn it off completely via some software trick? I'm fine with running the batteries down, I will just recharge them when necessary.

You know, I was having the same issues until I figured something out. I don't believe the controller goes to sleep immediately even after 5 min of non-use. If I turn it on for the first time today, I have to long press like you described. But lets say I set it down and watch a show on netflix or listen to a song. Whether I set the controller down for 5 min, or 30 min, the next time I need to wake it up, all I have to do is press the home button once. Not a long press, a regular press - which in turn wakes it up. Now, If I don't use the controller again till the next day, it will need a long press...hope this helps.

The CTRLR timeout is after about 2min of inactivity. If its gone to sleep, you can usually wake it up with single tap of Home button. If it doesn't wake up, you can do the press and hold Home button for 5 seconds to turn on.
Bonus tip: Press and hold Home button for 1 sec brings up the Recent Apps screen.

:good: It's a great feature, I use it a lot, even in gamesmart mode it works!
Shame you have to switch to mouse mode to select an app.. is there any chance of better navigating the android UI in gamesmart mode in the new Android 4.4?

I was doing long press every time I wanted to use the controller. Was getting frustrated with this and started to wonder if there was a way to disable sleep mode on the controller. The short press seems to work
It would still be nice if there was a way to customize how long you need to wait until the controller goes to sleep.

The controller switches itself into standby when not in use to save power, when the power / home button will glow red (it's normally blue). Switching the controller out of standby seems to be something of a black art, it doesn't 'wake up' as quick as I'd like, but after a few weeks of use i've got used to it.

I keep the thumbscrew on my at all times, for fear of losing it to.
I agree about the mode switch being difficult at times.
For comparison purposes, a Nvidia Shield is currently £279.99, also on Amazon UK and shares pretty much the same internals but adds a screen. You'd probably want a HDMI cable to play it on your TV.

They are similar experience, but how you get there is night and day.
Ie, Yeah, the shield has HDMI out, I have a hacked PSP with tv out, but I could never be bothered setting it up (A/V and power).
And the same with my tablet with HDMI out, did it a few times mostly for movies.
IMO, the mojo is convenient for TV topset box, desktop gaming and moga style gaming, all ready to go out of a single box (with exceptions lol).
Actually, I wrote on my blog about all the 2013 micro-consoles, and none were perfect out of the box experiences either.

I noticed it disables the controller for a while.
I was doing scorpions fatality on Mortal Kombat 1 on md.emu, block up, where block is start and the home light started flashing.

Holding the Start button for 5 seconds will have the Home button flash purple, clearing pairing for the CTRLR. It will then flash the usual red and blue, putting the CTRLR in Discovery Mode until it connects to a host. If the USB dongle is plugged in, it will usually immediately connect to that.
Otherwise, you can have it connect wirelessly to Bluetooth 4.0 PCs with Windows 8 (including the Microsoft Surface Pro) and Bluetooth 4.0 Android devices that have KitKat (like the Nexus 5 and 7). Just go into the device's Bluetooth settings and make sure the USB dongle is not plugged into anything.
For emus, I've been playing around with setting R3 as Start. Still trying to get used to it. :x Hope that helps!

R3 = Right analog click in, Interesting.. never thought of using those!
I'll leave it as start tho, as it plays just like the original pads :laugh:
Played around with L3 as Select and R3 as Start since Back button was usually the emu menu.... Unfortunately, didn't work out for me as I kept pressing L3 by accident whenever I was doing quick movements with the Left Analog. T_T
I've revised my control scheme to R3 as Select, and Start as the regular Start button now.
FWIW I usually just assign the Back button to the Select function - if I ever need to bring up the emulator menu I switch to mouse mode and click the back button in the soft menu bar.
