Okay... Backstory... I have 2 issues with my N4. the first is that the headphone jack has decided that headphones are always plugged in, and I have to use Soundabout app to use my phone without headphones. Cant RMA, so ordered a replacement headphone jack that should be here in about a week.
Main issue... Slimport. I finally got my Slimport adapter a few days ago, and I loved it. I was running the 6/10 build of PA, and audio and video mirroring to my Pioneer appradio was awesome. For 2 days... No rom change or kernel change, and all of a sudden no more audio. Video still works over Slimpport, but audio does not. I tried reflashing same rom, clean install, new builds, old builds, cm 10.1, sabermod, aokp, and the logcats all look about the same, so I am assuming the slimport adapter has failed somehow. Can it fail on just audio and the video still work? I tried the adapter to a couple of tvs with same results. The logcats show "failed to set hw/sw params" "pcm stream closed" I will post the logcat later today, as I left the N4 at home this morning. (Having to use a bloody iPhone 4S as a backup. , but at least ios 7 is fun to play with.)
I am wondering if somehow the headphone jack has degraded further, and is causing this issue, or if my slimport adapter is broken, or if my N4 is failing... setting in soundabout, including the aux hdmi setting, to no avail.
edit: I forgot to mention that when the slimport was working for audio, I did have soundabout installed too, and leaving media audio on 'let app decide' and headset detection ignored still allowed the slimport to function properly. Since it has stopped working I have tried every
Any thoughts?
Maybe the jack has degraded further and the phone thinks a headphone is connected and routing audio through the jack instead of Slimport.
Try plugging in a headphone and see if you get sound through the headphones and video via Slimport.

If I plug in headphones, I can indeed get audio through the headphones. Without headphones, and with soundabout set to ignore headphones, audio is routed through the phone speaker. Without soundabout installed, audio goes only to headphone jack.
When slimport audio was working, I had soundabout set to ignore headset as well.
I solved my issue with Slimport! Headphone jack is still messed up, but slimport audio works now. I had been on. 54 radio. I reflashed the bootloader and radio (44?. 48? Icr) and now slimport works for audio

Ive been using the mogul as an mp3 player for my car. I have an adaptor to plug into the usb connector to which i connect a 2.5 to 3.5 mm jack to my car's aux in jack.
Since the rom update (dcd clean rom, gps, reva) I can't get music to play thru the aux out! I tried making a phone call with the phone connected, and it worked fine. I could hear the person I was calling thru the car stereo speakers. But when I load up an audio app, media player or audio manager, there will be no audio when somthing is playing. as soon as I unplug the usb connector, the music will play from the phone speaker, and will go quiet when I plug it back in. volume is turned up and audio is turned on.
everything else on the phone works fine with the update (gps, reva, tethering, etc...)
Any ideas?
Sorry guys, didnt realize there was a thread already on this. See here:

I've noticed a loud thumping sound, same loudness as whatever I'm listening to, while using headphones or plugged into the auxiliary input in my car. It happens whenever I do an action like exit or open an app, or when an audio track ends or starts, example being whenever tracks change in Play Music.
Verizon is sending me a replacement phone, so I'll post if I notice it on the next one or not.
Same on T-Mobile version
It happens on my car aux input. Every time I hit play on a song, there is an audible thump before the music starts
This happens to me as well on my VZW G2. Mainly when its plugged into my car and I change tracks.
It happens to me too

New phone is still doing it, but not as bad. Most pronounced in Play Music.
No problem here with headphones or usb aux in Pioneer head. VZW Variant.

I know its not the car's aux input (via headphone jack) as 2 other phones work fine in the same car.
No clue. The two and only things relating to audio I have modded is increasing gain to 65 and removing the headphone notification. Doubt the latter makes a dif. I have used the tone 730 bts, 4 dif sets of plug headphones (one had separate jack for Mic), two dif USB wires for aux through mpt on Pioneer head unit, and one headphone to headphone aux input on Pioneer unit. I get crisp clean audio, no thump.
I've noticed mine does it in the car but when I connect to a Bluetooth speaker or use headphones it doesn't

ok, I've narrowed it down to only happening to me on Google Play Music on the current phone. I have someone from google working on the issue with me now. Did try a different aux/headphone cable, no difference.

Discovered another app that does it, Stitcher. Same behavior, whenever a podcast is started/stopped. Google punted the issue saying its hardware. I opened a case with LG support and they said they are already aware of the problem and are working on a solution to be included in a future update.
Mine does it even on bluetooth. Tested with a jbl charge and a jambox mini.

I have had my Mad Catz M.O.J.O for about 4 months now and It is rooted. I have everything set up where I have 2 computer speakers connected to my tv while the M.O.J.O. is connected via Hdmi. However, I have been having problems with the sound not coming out of the tv. It has of course worked at some point before. I have tried to search it, but I haven't found anyone else with the same issue for the M.O.J.O. The sound is enabled and turned up in the settings.
Hi!
Just for clarification have you tried playing sound on your TV via HDMI from another device than the Mojo? And does the Mojo play sound when plugging the speakers directly to it's audio jack?

Yes I have. Before I used the M.O.J.O, I used my laptop to connect to the tv for games, movies, etc. The sound worked fine.
The M.O.J.O does connect with the speakers if you plug them in directly to the audio jack, but it doesn't use 100% of the speakers. It will have some sound in one speaker and in the other there will be no sound.
I recently bought a Griffin Aux Audio Cable to try. I connected one end to the M.O.J.O and the other end to my tv's audio jack. While using the cable, the sound doesn't instantly work, but after some minutes it appears to in a sense reconnect the M.O.J.O sound to the tv. After the sound reconnects, I can then connect my speakers and then everything works perfect.
I'm not exactly sure why, but the problem is solved for now.

Did you figure out why it works or not?
I recently swapped my ouya for mojo and I dont get sound on HDMI at all no matter what cable/port combination I use, the sound is present on speaker output.

If I were you I would try to return it if I can or try to use the warranty if it still has one.
The problem from mine progressed and worsened to where I just sent it off to Mad Catz. I had got another one (latest model) and it works much better. If you didn't buy it and just swapped out, I am currently selling mine. It's practically new with no problems. If not, I hope I was somewhat helpful.

The headphone port on my unit looks installed improperly - I do get sound via headphones, but its possible its short circuited somewhere and the unit is cutting off HDMI audio thinking the phones are plugged in, I will return it and see if they can fix it, but I expect its something silly like this.

Ok, Mad Catz is very helpful when helping fix issues for their customers. They should be able to help you with the problem. Call them and or file a ticket to send it in.
Fixed,
The issue was that my unit was a refub and the headphone jack was soldered incorrectly, we unsoldered the jack and short circuited all the right pins and now i have working sound
I have been using a pair of Sony Gold wireless USB headphones on my shield for viewing at night when my family is asleep. Was working great until after the update. When I tried them last night I am only getting audio from the left side. I tried changing the USB audio settings in the menu from 5.1 to stereo to HQ stereo and back, nothing works. This is happening in all apps and in the menu. Tested them w/ my PC and PS4 and work fine there. Any ideas?
i generaly use soundabout when i use usb stuff for sound but it is a new android version so i dont know here sorry.
For me it's the other way around, I was using turtle beach USB DAC for toslink connection to my amplifier, and was only getting stereo sound. Now digital sound, DTS, AC3 is working in kodi and other apps. I have it set to 5.1, and volume control is off. Don't think this helps you in any way, but they did change things related to USB audio, thats for sure.
Did you reboot the shield when changing the sound settings? You must reboot for the changes to take effect.
This is a general appeal for ideas, but mostly directed at Havoc [Havoc-OS v2.8 2019-09-09] users - I need your help. I've searched high and low for a solution and at this point I need someone else using Havoc to confirm something for me. The issue is phone call audio routing when headphones or 3.5mm audio cable is plugged in. On my old S2 for many years when I was driving I'd connect an audio cable to the 3.5mm jack and it would send audio (music, audiobooks, podcasts etc) to my car stereo. Then if I made or received a phone call, the audio from the other party would also come through the car stereo and the phone mic would easily pick up my voice a metre or so away, just like it would on speakerphone mode for a regular call.
Now I have an issue with the Note 4 where all regular audio out, music etc, will go to the car stereo but for some reason it isn't routing phone call audio to the car stereo OR the phone's external speaker. They can hear me fine from the Note 4 mic but I hear nothing. In addition, the call recording reveals that their voice IS being recorded along with mine....but there's no way for me to hear them.
I have tested this at home as well with regular wired headphones (not the handsfree type designed for phones with a mic on the cable), just plain old headphones I use to listen to stuff at the PC. The same thing happens: music and other normal audio goes to headphones but I cannot hear any audio in a call.
This is weird and I can't figure it out. My old S2 did this effortlessly for many years through multiple different ROMs and still does it now running Nougat. In my searches I came across what appears to be a solution, one of the only apps of it's kind for many years called SoundAbout, but it crashes straight away on my phone, and I read the same complaint from several users on Oreo onwards. The app seems to have been abandoned by it's dev years ago.
I've looked everywhere in Havoc settings and I can't find anything obvious that addresses the issue so I'm turning it over to you smart people. Any ideas? Before you say something like "just use a bluetooth headset in the car" - No. I'm not looking to change anything, I just want this (very simple) thing to work as it has for years, since Gingerbread! Btw, I only discovered this today for the first time as I'd never tried it before so I have no idea if it would have worked on earlier versions of Havoc or any of the Oreo ROMs I ran.
Thanks guys.
TLDR - [Havoc-OS v2.8 2019-09-09] phone call audio not routing to car stereo via 3.5mm jack, all other audio goes out just fine.
