but i got otg cable from my old not (guess mainboard is damaged(((() when i plug it to my s4 it syasy usb connector connected but when i plug USB flahs into it nothing happens and flash dont light up!
should i try powered usb hub is this safe;?

I've bought used Magic few days ago, and last night I wanted to root it, but when I try to connect it with computer - nothing! No USB icon on Magic, no new device on PC, just charging. I have original 1.6 android on it. Tried 4-5 different USB cables.
What can I do? Is there any way to fix it? Can I do rooting and flashin new rom from SD card, without usb?
turn on usb debugging in settings/applications/development

could be a problem with your usb port on computer, try another port or try the phone on another computer and see what happens. also did you try the usb headphones ? are they working fine?

mi micro USB is not working propperly right now, for some reason it doesn´t charges correctly, it seems a little... "loose"... im currentl running CM 9 2012/05/26
and when it plugg it in the computer and manage it to start charging, it wont allow me to acces it as a mass storage device, in fact the computer wouldn´t recognize it at all!, any help!?
try another cable, or connecting it to other port after rebooting (usb musnt be connected)

bacause mine does charges when appropietly connected... its just that sometimes it wont nad it will not allow me to get to the mass storage...
If your phone just charge but can't access to masive storage, look in the device manager , if you have a MTP device, your micro ubs port is fine, just try to install some stock rom.
it´s just that some times it doesn´t charges and I need to slowly start trying to adjust the micro USB port so it can charge... that´s why I say that it seems to be a little loose...
As well it will only charge when plugged into my XboX 360 or the computer (and some other devices) but not when plugged into the Stock charger... :S

USB not working for flash
Hi everyone, I came with a similar issue.
The massive storage USB connection is not working for me, plus I can't flash a stock rom,
Currently I'm in MIUI for defy (and it's the only option I am able to install), I tried to wipe data cache to install cyanogenmod 7 from recovery but it's not working, it get stuck in the boot logo. I want to install cyanogenmod because it is fast than MIUI jelly bean.
My idea is to flash the device, but with the usb not working Im stuck,
any ideas to solve this? or should i go to have the usb repaired?

If after a boot in bootloader (power+vol-up) and connecting to PC via usb cable nothing appear onto PC display 3 possibilities exist.
1. Usb cable is broken.
2. Pc have no usb driver foryour device (but even in this case a error message appear)
3. Usb connector or circuitry fron Defy is broken.

Yes, is OK your method but is a little dangerous if you not cover the cleaned pins with some resin. More safe is to use a toothbrush soaked in isopropyl alcohol or 98% ethylalcohol to clean the soldered pins.

Flashed the KitKat like everyone did and now my computer does not detect my phone... And phone shows that it's being charged even after i plug out my usb cable... :'(
I have reflashed the firmware multiple times...

I did flashed the 4.4 bootloader ... My phone did not boot without flashing the boot loader... I'm now certain that something is wrong with my firmware... Because odin detects my phone pretty well...
- I have few problems now my phone does not detect when i plug it in the usb wall plug , means doesn't show that it is charging
- Or it shows that the device is charging even when the usb is not connected...
- PC does not recognize it

Hi, I'have root my i9506 and all is fine
but after the rooting procedure my phone charge slowly so slowly and if I connect it to the pc nothing happens the pc don't find it!!

Sounds like problem lies in cable. Try another cable and check that it isnt loose.

It is possible the root procedure or the cwm installation alter something in usb driver or usb management??
Not 100% sure but sound exactly like problem i had with cable. Clean phones usb jack and check its not wiggling. You might want to ask from s4 help section

Could you tell me what the problem is? if it is wrong flashed as I flash it back if I can not connect it to the pc? or is it the micro usb port and do I have to change it?

No rom affects turbo charging in any way. Check the temperature of your phone and the connection/cable. Reflashing may be an option to.
@megasjuan turbo charging is hardware feature and has nothing effect even of wrong flash (many one did wrong flashing and lost one imei of slot-2 and with model number, in your case it seems to be fine, right? )
You said you cleaned usb port, it may be damaged that while, or may be not.
Turn your phone off and plug it to charging, then see what that charging screen says.
For computer connection, try updating driver / remove and install again / change usb cable or different usb slot of computer.
Then you can conclude what's wrong.
