Hello,
recently the signal of my Nexus 7 has dropped dramatically; before I could walk to other rooms and I could have a decent wifi signal, however now if I leave too nearby room the signal decreases to only one bar or it could even be 0.
I am very worried because I don't know this could be a physical damage because the behavior of the wifi signal has change it significantly.
I am running 4.2.2 32gb version, rooted.
Thanks!
Is it only at home that this happens, or with any wifi? Mine occasionally does the same, and a router reboot usually gets it back to normal. Sometimes, just disconnecting and reconnecting fixes it. Annoying, but a quick and easy fix, if it works for you.

If it's not the router than try openning the back cover and attaching it again. It contains the WiFi antenna.

I've noticed that the phone is getting half the wifi signal that my iPhone 4 gets, has anyone else noticed this issue as well? I did a battery pull but that has not corrected the problem.
Same here it seems like I'm literally one wall away from my router but still getting one bar of wifi

Yeah. I am getting only two bars even though I am standing right next to my router.
Run a speed test, it could just be a signal display issue.
I'm wondering if someone might know how to fix my battery drain issue. I'm running a desire HD with unofficial CM JB. My problem is that I live in an area with no cell signal and use my phone on WiFi at home. The phone seems to turn up the power to the cell radio and constantly search for a signal, causing 60% or more battery usage. If I switch to airplane mode every time I get home from work and then turn on WiFi the issue goes away and battery life is amazing, but this is a pain and I often forget to turn the cell radio back on... I did not have this problem with ICS ROMs. They seemed fine chilling with no network until I got to town.
Any ideas?

Been poking around a bit trying to figure this out. In the last couple weeks my otherwise perfect phone has been randomly switching from 4g to 3g in normally strong 4g areas. My work iPhone 5 stays connected during these times. If I reboot or put it in airplane mode, it goes back to 4g with no issues. Strong signal too.
Got a new SIM on Saturday. No change. Did a factory reset on Saturday night. Still does it after that too.
The fact that it goes straight to 4g and stays after the reboot or airplane mode toggle makes me believe it isn't the phone. Even more so after the reset.
Then I found this- http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...to-3G-in-NYC-Verizon-owns-most-total-spectrum
Is anybody else having this issue? Is there a fix? I really don't want to send this otherwise perfect phone back for a warranty replacement refurb that will only give me the same issue. I also have a glass screen protector on there that I don't want to move or pay to replace.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all.
Have you tried to disable Fast Dormancy to test? It should be doing this by design to save power when the radio has not been used after an X amount of seconds. Be warned that disabling Fast Dormancy may lead to battery drain if the cell tower's setting does not match that of the phone

I will try that now and report back. Thank you.
I got a weird one for you guys. I had LTE on my nexus 4, but after tethering for awhile, my LED started flashing red and the phone got hot. So I turned off tethering, but my LTE became intermittent, and over the course of the next day, I lost LTE connectivity altogether, even if I set it to LTE only, I wouldn't get any signal. This is what I've tried, changing different hybrid radios, changing ROMs, factory restore to original ROM. The other symptom, and the one I care more about, is that my battery now drains pretty quickly, whereas it would last 3 hours of screen time on before this incident, now it lasts less then an hour. And it seems to drain while the phone screen is off. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Did I burn out my LTE modem?
I think you need a new battery.

I have a feeling it has something to do with the modem. Day 2 with the damaged phone reveals that my signal will go in and out, sometimes it will be on 3g, sometimes on edge (even in 3g areas). If that's the case, a new battery won't necessarily help.
Now 3g is gone completely. I can only use 2g. Anyone else run into this problem?
I had this problem a few years back. It was the wireless provider who was adjusting my internet speeds. After one simple call they stropped doing this and my phone was always connecting at 3G (I don't have the LTE hack installed)
Hey Guys,
My wife's 6p loses connection when signal gets weak, but then never connects to a tower when back in range. The only solution is a reboot or switching airplane mode on / off.
Anyone else seeing this?
My Nexus 6 stays connected and switches towers very well, but the 6p gets disconnected and never reconnects.

Turning off Wi-Fi Assistant helped me a bunch.

What carrier are you on? I have a 6P and my school is on a mountain so I don't have service near the back of my school but it always reconnects as soon as I go to the buildings closer to the main street. This happens several times a day, so if my phone had that problem I would have seen it by now.
Another possibility is that you have a faulty device. If it's still in warranty (and even if it isn't), you may be in better shape getting a replacement from Google.
