3 = Auto sync for "Google+" app.
4 = Auto sync for "Currents" app.
1, 2, 5, 6 = I have an idea, but i don't want to risk.
They backup, for instance, your wallpaper, you latest installed apps from play store ( this one maybe not ), your WiFi AP passwords, your android alarms, some settings.

Hate to reply to an old thread but I was looking for this answer as well.
1. App Data - Same as Settings - Data usage - Auto-sync data but for Google apps only? It's not Wi-Fi passwords because that's in Settings - Backup & reset
2. People details - Google+ contacts details?
5. Auto backup - I have no such option
6. Google photos - This one is the most confusing because I also have an option called "Google+ photos"

@eluspo Here are the functions of each:
1. App Data : It backups data of your Gapps namely Playstore and others which has content that can be synced,
2. People Details: They contain all your contacts Phone numbers and email address which are on your device. Each time you log in to a new android device. Your contacts will be automatically synced to your phone because of this
3. Google + : Syncs you G+ content
4. Currents: Syncs your Google Currents data
5. Auto backup : I don;t have it in my sync menu, Maybe it automatically backups some of your data *which data I dont know*
6. Google Photos: Backups your photos in cloud You can also make a small videos of all your photos . This function corresponds to the Google Photos App
Hope You got the answer you were looking for

What's the difference between Google+ photos and Google photos? Also the difference between people details and contacts?

[Q] 4.2 shared apps?

Is it possible to share apps / games from one account to another.
I created a guest account thinking that they'd be able to play all the games I have installed on my main account.
Perhaps it can and I just can't find the setting?

Go to Play Store, select app and "install" it. Then it appears in guest account
Of course you need to have on both user accounts same google account.

I do not understand your last sentence. My guest account does not have a Google account. I'd like for the guest account to have games though. Can I do this?

You have to actually have a google account on your guest account to have anything from the market in it.
Topic is getting muddied here.
When you add a second user to your Nexus 7, that user has to have a Google account. Can be empty - just make a Google ID.
On the second user, open Google Play. It will show all the apps that user has (none).
In Google Play, click Options, then Add Account.
Add your master Google account - the one that owns your apps. Don't synch anything.
Now your second user can see all of your apps in Google Play.
"Install" all the ones you want your guest to have access to. They don't really download - only a pointer is set up to them.
Now you can delete your account from the second user play store if you like.
As far as your guest user is concerned, it looks like they have their own copy of your apps. They have all their own customization,
high scores, etc. And they can't touch yours.
This is a really good multi-user implementation, regardless of what else you might read on XDA.
Thanks a lot rm200.
Since i upgraded to 4.2 I searched for a way to share my apps with my other account without installing twice and could not find. Even on xda there is a topic where guys comment about having to pay twice for each account. I just wish google would explain better its newest features.

i just start a web server, and download my apks using a browser in guest user.

You will have two copies of the apk that way. Not good.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
This is possible if you are rooted. The steps are as follows:
1. Using a root explorer (in your main profile), navigate to /data/system/users/##/. ## is probably 10. 0 is your main profile. You may have 20 or even 30 if you have more than two profiles.
2. In the ~/##/ folder there is a file called package-restrictions.xml open this in a text editor.
3. With the file open you will see app package names ex. <pkg name="com.quoord.tapatalkpro.activity" inst="false"/>. <- this is obviously tapatalk. If you want this app to display in your second profile simply delete the line in this file.
4. Save, exit, restart, done.
*NOTE if you restored all of your apps via titanium backup (and i suspect any other back up app) when you modify the package-restrictions.xml and restart you will have to sign in again and ALL apps from your main profile will be available to the second user.

Or both?
Did u verify that they didn't sync by going to desktop site to actually see if they didn't actually sync?
Is it all Google accounts, or just certain ones....
contacts, gmail, voice, pictures, books... etc?
Worse case, sign out and resign in to see if helps

From time to time I have problems with contacts not displaying the pictures and/or numbers etc.
I clear the data for the "Contacts Storage" in Apps and then re-sync. Maybe you could try that and see what happens - Just make sure that you can correctly see your contacts in Gmail on your PC or laptop first and they are backed up!

This sync error occurs both for mobile data and Wifi.
And the sync errors only for contacts. Gmail, browser, photos, and calendar successfully synchronized.
I have tried to sign out then sign in again, but not works, still unable to sync for contacts.
Thanks anyway.

maybe your contac database at gmail was corrupted make another gmail account and copy your contacts to the new gmail and try your phone with the new gmail to sync.
I seem to be seeing after looking that I have the same issue. So I did a couple things like signing in and out and that didn't work. I backed up my contacts and deleted my contacts and that didn't work. However I did find something that works.
1. Export your contacts to SD card so you don't lose anything.
2. Go to Settings and find your Google Account and uncheck Contacts to sync.
3. Go to Settings/Apps slide over to all apps.
4. Go down to Contacts. Force stop and clear data.
5. Go to Contact Storage. Force stop and clear data.
6. Go back to your Google Account and recheck Contacts to sync.
At that point you should notice it takes a few seconds longer to sync but when finished showed it completed. If you lose any contacts actually in the Gmail remember you exported your contacts so you still have them.
To export contacts:
Go to Contacts, hit Menu, then click Import/Export and save to SD card.
I recommend exporting contacts on a reasonable basis anyhow uncase anything happens to the phone and/or Gmail so you still have a hard copy on your SD card. You can never be to sure.
I hope this helps and remember to thank me by clicking the thanks.
Edit: I'm also finding if you are running HaxSync that the problem happens more. May be a bug.
Great alternative to HaxSync is Facebook Contact Sync. Link Below:

Another great alternative to HaxSync is Facebook Contact Sync. I will update my above post with the Play Store link.
It happened for me also with Haxsync when I used the upload pics back to Google option. I unselected it, readded the Google account and it was fine again.

I can say without a doubt that HaxSync causes this problem. 3 phones now this has happened with and I can reproduce it.

[Q] New to Android World

Hi ...am about to receive my first android device ..NEXUS 4 (moving from nokia 5233) . Can anyone point me how can i get my gmail account ready so that I will have all the phone numbers and images associated with the contacts on the NEXUS on day one.
I have downloaded all the contacts from my phone. I was wondering if there was some software which will pull down all the information(email, birthday, photo) from the facebook and gmail to my system so that i can review and prepare them for the NEXUS 4.
Any other thing which I can do before it arrives will be great. :silly:
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#contacts
You may add, import/export them there. From that point on, a Android device will sync with Google Contacts and sync them.
Facebook.. download FB app and u can sync it with FB (cant do it off the phone)
Apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992163 good list to work off of to prepare what you want in terms of apps.
Want to root? Check out a sticky on how to do it (please dont use the toolkit method).
I suggest fastboot oem unlock (unlocking bootloader) day one. So if you do decide to root or flash a custom rom, kernel you can keep your settings. Whereas, if you decide not to unlock bootloader and want to flash--you will lose your settings and have to start over.
Recommended app if you want to play with your phone; Titanium Backup Pro (backup and restores apps/data)
First steps...

If you are currently using GMail to manage all of your contacts, you transition will be a snap. Since an Android device is so intimately linked with Google, all of that information will show up natively, assuming you sign into the same GMail account with the new phone.
Otherwise, if all of your contacts are in a different format, such as a CSV file or another contact file format, you will likely want to import them to your Google account using your PC, instead of your phone. Signing into Gmail will allow you to access a Contacts section where you will be able to upload a file to import all of your contact to your Google account. The Contacts section is a bit hidden; it is within a drop down menu, near the top left of the page, just under the GMail logo.
Good luck!

What your asking for like I said before is syncing your contacts with Facebook, it is done through the face book app. It cannot be done without you having access to a Android device

I suggest using haxsync to sync your Facebook contacts. It has way more options and customizations than the normal Facebook app and also supports Facebook calendar syncing.

Contacts getting deleted

Hi,
I have the Nexus 4 from LG, running Android with all the latest updates.
For the last 2 week I have been having the issue that contacts disappear. It started with SMS/Text messages not recognizing the sender from the contacts. Then you realize that the contact has disappeared.
I then went to Gmail and did a restore and got back my contacts.
Today morn I had 1029, now I have 672. You can see images I captured over the day today. Top right shows the number of contacts.
I have already deleted the COntacts from the apps and re-sync etc.
Raj
I'm having a similar problem and although I don't have a complete fix I have been using the Go Contacts EX app to backup contacts to a vcf file and then the contacts can easily be restored from there. Google keeps deleting my contacts even though I have syncing disabled.

Maybe that is what it looks like to you but that is not at all what is happening. I was setting up the phone before I gave it to a family member as a gift. I was the only one besides Google making any changes to it. I have deleted the google account from the phone and will next start using system tuner to disable services until the problem is solved.
try this...
1. Make a full backup of your contacts. To backup ur contacts use any third party app from the playStore. I recommend using [SMS Backup & Restore] by Ritesh Sahu.
2. Make sure you have only one main Google account syncing. If you have any other gmail accounts go to settings > Accounts > click on the other accounts and remove it for now.
3. go to settings > backup and reset > uncheck Backup my data (this will erase all of ur backups on Google servers).
4. Restart your phone and restore you contacts using SMS Backup & Restore.
5. Go to settings again > Accounts > Google > here you should see your gmail account. On top right corner click on the three dots > Sync now. Wait until it finish syncing.
6. You can now re-enable Backup my data. Settings > Backup & Reset > Check Backup my data.
7. Re add your other gmail accounts.
Good luck.

Yes. I disabled all Google Sync services and eventually got it to work (it did take some experimentation though). I tried both System Tuner (i.e., the Startup Manager) and Titanium Backup to disable (hibernate) it. I currently have Ubuntu Touch on that phone so am unable to give you the exact configuration. Good luck!
Badboy's directions worked for me.
Although, I didn't make any backups. I'm putting in my contacts manually. The most crucial part was removing all accounts except one. From that point on, things started working.

[Q] low res contact pictures...

Hi Guys,
I sold my S4 and now I own this powerful device since one week. But there is a problem for which I did not find a solution yet. I have high res contact pics in my google account but the G2 does only sync low res pics which makes me sick. I searched for a solution but did not find any. Does someone also have this problem? On my S4 everything was fine with the pics.
Thanks!
I think the only way is to 're do the pictures

I already tried this... using a new high res pic for a contact (on gmail)... but g2 syncs the pixel variant....
I can't figure this out either. Some contacts it seems to use a higher res than others regardless of the source image. Something wierd going on there.

this has to do with gmails api supporting low res pictures only.
The res was increased somewhere in Android but not in gmail that results in this phenomenon when resyncing.
A workaround is haxsync that can replace the pictures on the phone with another source such as facebook
Android supporting high res but gmail yet to catch up?
Something strange is going on here.. this gotta be raised to Google methinks..
Not really a g2 problem, but general android issue. Google contracts used to only accept low res pics and you probably pushed those to your address book at some point. To get high res pics back, you are either manually have to go through and redo the pics, or you can use something like hacksync. It'll pull the facebook profile pics in high res and has the option to push those to your google address book,
This is a general android issue and it will happen with any non nexus phone. If you set a high res pic as a Google contact's pic,it will sync to all your devices as a low res 96x96 pic. It only syncs the high quality one across nexus devices (as far as i know , coming from a nexus 4 after using many samsung devices and now the g2). Minor or major issue depending on the person. For me i can live with it but i prefer the nexus way
I haven't yet tried it on this device, but HD Contacts was a good workaround for this on the last couple devices I had this issue on: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jgarrison.hdcontacts
I can't recall where I read this, but I think this issue is resolved across the board in 4.3 as well.

It's really weird, all the contacts on my phone that I had starred were all in high quality, I never realized this until you mentioned your fix.
However, when I tried to star contacts and then delete cache/data in the contacts app, it didn't seem to change anything.
EDIT: IT WORKS!
Missed one step...
1) Star Contacts
2) Settings > Sync (this is the step that helped me ensure all contacts will sync with high-res photos).
3) Clear Cache/Data in Contacts App (I also cleared Contacts Data App)
4) Sync all your contacts back in and you got your high quality pictures
EDIT EDIT:
Make sure you clear cache/data in both Contacts App and Contacts Data. When I only cleared Contacts App, half the photos were still low-res.
When I cleared both apps and then synced, all photos were high quality.

Sorry if I was unclear, so if I go into Phone > Contacts > Settings (this is where you click "Sync Now") to make sure everything is synced before deleting all contacts data.
Is there a way to "Star" all contacts in one action?

I have noticed the same problem. Is there a solution other than getting images from Facebook or starring every single contact and clearing cache (that would drive me crazy)?
On my Galaxy Nexus using the standard contacts app all contact images are first low res after a new set up but after opening a contact for the first time the high res image is loaded.
On my G2 only the starred contacts have a high res picture while all others are low res.
Can I somehow install the AOSP contacts app to let it load the pictures or is there another work around?
