[Q] S4 32gb - will it work in UK on T-Mobile? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hi
I'm looking for a 32gb version of the S4 and can see Verizon and AT&T have one. I've been searching for a few days now and can't seem to find any definitive answer to my question. Will either of these carrier's phone work in the UK on T-Mobile, along with the 4G technology? I'm due to arrive in the US in August so would love to get my hands on one then! Alternatively, maybe there is an offline version unlocked to all networks, including the UK T-Mobile one.
I hope someone can help or point me to a link that will help.
Thanks
Shy

Question about Unlocked Vodafone in U.S.

Hey everyone quick question. If a T-mobile customer in the U.S. were to order an unlocked magic branded with the Vodafone logo, could they still update the phone and such when the U.S. version hits in July. Say that U.S. T-mobile has sent out an update for their phone, could the person who has the Vodafone version update as well? I am debating about ordering an unlocked magic from Timtechs.com to use here in the U.S. and was wondering what were the possible drawbacks, besides 3G, that I may face.
For the same price (or less actually) as the vodaphone imports you can get one of the Google ION phones off of ebay if you're looking for something a little more interesting.
It supports the american 3G bands as well. I paid 589 for mine.
I have debated on ordering one, but am afraid of possibly receiving just a box lol. Actually the area of texas i live at doesn't have 3G yet, I am always running the E - EDGE network so it really doesn't bother me.

Got one for $400 practically new. Camera is decent but no AF and flash suck ball.
or get the one of the ones Rogers is releasing tomorrow in Canada..
Well, would it be the same version that the U.S. should be getting? if i could find a good canadian website that would ship to the U.S. I may be looking into this lol.
I just received a Vodaphone HTC Magic version and I got the phone to work nicely on AT&T with the APN info. But, 3G does not work. It only shows EDGE. Does anyone know how to get the 3G to work? Or, is there a ROM that I can flash to?
Let me know -

No since it has different 3G radio.
Rogers version will work since it has the same 3G bands as AT&T (850 and 1900).
Hey, wait....so since it has the same bands as AT&T...would that be the same as T-Mobile? Any one know a good canadian retailer who ships to the U.S.?

T-Mobile Service - US vs UK

Hello,
Thank you upfront to anyone who can answer my questions. Bleeding edge is vague and a lot of hearsay at times; it's nice to have simple, straight-forward, and accurate answers on this site.
I have T-Mobile in the USA; I'd prefer not to change. I see reports the Streak will only work with 3G from ATT and be limited to EDGE on T-Mobile. Is this true? Ack!
If so, I have some questions I wonder if people know the answer to:
1.) Likelihood 3G support will be added (via radio firmware or something) for T-Mobile? Will they have a different model I'll have to buy?
2.) I see screen shots of some power users on this forum running T-Mobile 3G. Is this because it is the UK version on the UK network?
3.) If I get the UK version, will it work on T-Mobile's 3G here in the USA? Any danger in using the UK model in the USA?
Cheers!
Kyle
Yes it is t mobile UK and the specs have not been fully released yet for the US so its only speculation as what is on it and only some one from the US can answer the US questions about if it will work on t mobile US as i am from across the pond, but what i will say is the t mobile UK ones are either working with an unlocked streak or a rebel Sim so don't know if that will help you
Some of the posts I have seen for TMOUS running Rebel sim, is NO it does not work yet. I am sure it will work soon.

[Q] Which US carrier tab to be used in Canada

HI there, first, thanks everyone for sharing such great info about the galaxy tab.
I got some quick questions here, did search before posting but did not find so sorry if it's been asked already.
I'm looking to get a US tab and was wondering which US carrier tab is most suited to be used on Bell's network?
Also, I've seen a lot of tabs with bad ESN going for great price on eBay... if I get one from US and try to use it here in Canada on Bell's network...will they work fine?
Cheers!

ATT is the ONLY US provider compatible with Bell 3G, don't buy a Tab from anyone except ATT, Bell or Rogers. The Bell Tab is 550$ right now off contract, pretty sweet deal.

This man speaks the truth. ATT is the only carrier that's completely compatible with Canadian carriers (with some minor 900/850 MHZ band bickering) Tmobile uses AWS (Of which the Canadian equivalent is Wind Mobile) and Sprint/Verizon are both using the archaic CDMA system.
Oddly enough both Telus & Bell were on CDMA (and *technically* still support it, but that's a serious grey area) up until a year ago. Rogers has been GSM for a good while now.

[Q] Prospective buyer, ?'s on the variant options

Hi everyone -
Have been on here quite frequently for my SGSIIE4GT, but it's been a while since I've posted. I'm in the market for a new phone, and I think I will be going with the Note 3. However, boy am I confused on which model is the right fit for me. I could really use some help and a little insight, as the reps at AT&T, TMO, VZN, and Samsung Live Chat haven't been able to answer my questions.
I'm currently with Sprint, and looking to leave. I would be using the Note 3 near San Francisco 90-95% of the time, but I do travel 6-7x/yr to Asia, Canada, UK, and South America. I'm pretty sure I will buy the phone on no contract and use with TMO, AT&T, Straight Talk, or AIO. I've been reading some issues with "region locks" though that scare me a bit, not sure if this is still an issue with the models sold in the US.
From what I can see, ATT, TMO, VZN, and Sprint all have their own "versions" of the phone. ATT and TMO obviously use the same cell tech (GSM), so I don't understand why they have different versions. The VZN and Sprint versions would run on CDMA, which as I understand, won't do me any good if I travel overseas due to no CDMA elsewhere. Then there's the int'l unlocked versions, and the Developer edition. But then I heard just yesterday that the VZN Note 3 works on GSM (somehow, haven't figured that out though).....is there a SIM card slot in that version? After all that, I guess what I'm looking for is this which I could use some insight on:
Want to use the phone:
-with LTE using ATT/TMO/ST/AIO/VZN here in the U.S.
-want to buy off contract
-do not want bloatware...so do I need to buy unlocked?
-need to have it functional still if I go out of the country and purchase a local SIM card (some people ask me exactly which service I use overseas, and I don't have an answer b/c I haven't done this yet, my Sprint phone didn't even give me the option)
Which model is appropriate for that type of use? I read on Amazon that TMO's version is the best one out there b/c the ATT model doesn't work on TMO, but TMO's works on TMO and ATT.....
Thanks so much for your time. Samsung has really confused me with this phone, and could really just use some suggestions. Thanks again!

I would think international n9005 would be the one for you i know it will cover all Europe and i know it works on u.s t mobile, so have a look into that one
Hope that helps a bit
The 9005 will work in all other countries pretty much.
In the US it might work on tmobile as stated above but I'm not sure about the others.

Thanks guys. I have seen the N9005 tossed around a few times as well. I think the constant question I keep having is I see this phone made with the SD800 or the Exynos chip....but not which models have which chipset. I found the 9005 on Negiri in 32gb and the SD800....but if it works on tmobile why wouldn't it work on ATT? I thought they run the exact same tech.....no?

Awesome news, thanks.
Do you know if the Note 3 Developer Edition for Verizon, which works on their LTE network, comes with a SIM card slot that I can utilize if I go overseas? Boy, that would be ideal. I checked out the manual (http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...ual_MI9_F5.pdf) and it shows a SIM slot for the phone, no?
I was told by one of the writers at Droid Life that the Verizon N3 can be used on GSM. I thought that was impossible.
I seriously apologize if these are elementary questions, I truly do appreciate any insight. Just don't want to make a huge financial mistake.

Thanks for the input guys/gals. Really appreciate it. I went to Best Buy after work last night and talked with the Samsung tech rep. Turns out, the VZN Note 3 comes factory unlocked (per FCC law), and it has a sim card slot so I can use it on GSM if I travel overseas. One and done. I already put my name on the backorder list for the developer edition from Samsung so I can be sure to have functionality to remove bloatware. Wouldn't it be cool if the Note 3 could just come with 4.3 and Samsung's additions, but not any of Verizon's garbage??? I know, pipe dream.

Whoa, so it's a good thing I didn't buy the DE Note 3 yet and just on backorder. Just read - Verizon doesn't allow 4G phones to go prepaid? That makes no sense, because then the DE Note 3 would then be nothing but a paperweight since it must be purchased at full price (meaning, you could only then use it prepaid, no?). I do value Verizon's network, but their prices are just absurd compared to competitors.
Is there any difference whatsoever between the TMO and AT&T variants of the Note 3? I can't seem to spot a single difference.

Help - if I buy the LG V20 to use in the UK (unlocked) how do I update and 4G?

I posted this in the general section, but then I found this specific V20 area and hopefully you guys will be far more knowledgeable than I am.
I'm on an EE contract in England. the LG V20 is the phone I want to buy but it's not released here in the UK (ebay seems the only option and the closest).
It's got Nougat but it will eventually have updates. the LG V20 does not seem to be scheduled for release in the UK. How, if possible, can I update the phone's Android since my network does not stock that phone?
And it will work on 4G in the UK too?
Thank you for the help, I'm a novice Android user.
Cause you can update as and when available by the manufacturer if it's unlocked.

I just took the plunge and bought on eBay should be delivered next few days. I went for H990DS version which is apparently compatible with all 4g networks in the uk.
I would venture you can update manually with whatever lg uses to flash stock firmware or it will find an update over wifi.

I have an F800 Korean version using it on Vodafone. All 4G bands are supported. The only one missing is the 900MHz HSDPA band. Video calling works just fine. The downside is that you get the operator bloatware and is not easy to get rid of it.
P.S. Check the 4G(LTE) bands of your operator before buying. For example the Korean version you won't get 4G on O2.

I ordered mine too, so hopefully get it around the 7th/8th. I got the Taiwan version because of more 4G support in U.K. It will be used on EE and 3. In the past I have achieved speeds of 100mb with the Note, so would like to see how this would do as well. Such a shame we have to import... lg should be taking advantage of Samsung's catastrophic failure with the note 7. Oh by the way does anyone know if they share sim and sd card or the sd has its own dedicated slot?

I have the F800S. Is the SK Telecom model with some bloatware but the phone itself is great. Quality build and the audio and camera are superb. I wish I could somehow remove the Korean dialer. Even if you select English it still shows the Korean characters.
AUSSIES interested in the H990DS dual sim with 4g/3g capability, its available for $984 local stock, local shipping, genuine AU 12 month warranty from me. Only sold in 1 retailer outright/unlocked, JB HIFI from 8/11 with a price of $1099.

Hi all. Bit late to this chat but I've just bought an LG V20 online and am a little worried as LG themselves are telling me that I won't be able to connect to the 4G network at all as the frequencies are different. However the frequencies available on the specifications of the phone DO match the frequencies used by EE for 4G in the UK; are the LG operatives confused? Do your V20s work okay on the UK's 4G ? Thanks in advance
I'm also in the UK and I've had my H990ds Taiwan variant for 4 days.
I'm on Tesco Mobile (which uses o2) and 4G LTE is working just fine.
